"I'm going to live my life and not be paranoid. I'm not talking about this anymore." bolded is part that particularly bother me. If it was endangering just his life that's one thing, but he's not. Yours, your family and anyone else he comes in contact with for that matter, could be in danger. I would let him know that he doesn't get to shut me down by not talking about it, and even more clearly tell him to take his life and live it somewhere else until this is over. No way does he get to put your or your children's well being in jeopardy. He's really behaving badly... and selfishly.

You are right and he is wrong. He needs to sing the I'm wrong song. From at least six feet away... I would be livid. You are totally justified in your anger monicad .

Not only was he stupid for doing that, the other 5 were equally as dumb.
I TOTALLY validate you.
My worry is that now he knows how pissed you are going to get is that he is still going to "live his life" and then not tell you.

You are 100% correct. And you need to show him this thread and tell him the peas never agree 100% on anything so that should tell him something.

Wow. I’m guessing that was not an action approved of by the business either.
Tell him he can live his life - but you also want to continue to LIVE, so he has to be smarter or move to the garage or elsewhere.

He is wrong, but be careful he may agree and not tell you if he does it again! Right? My mind went there immediately, alas... Obviously, 100% validated, monicad. Shitty behaviour, shitty justification.

Absolutely validated. I wonder if the other guys’ wives know or mind? Is he easily swayed? I wonder if one guy said “come on...it’ll be fine...don’t be paranoid...”

Your kids can double up in one bedroom and he can move into the vacated room. That would be the start.

The consensus is that you are right. We had 2 cases in our county. 2 and yesterday one of the 2 died. I am terrified for those I love. I am sorry you are dealing with your DH’s bad decision on top of all this craziness

And this was one day; I don't know if this is going on every day or not, because he got so angry and shut down. I kept talking about it and he said, "I'm going to live my life and not be paranoid. I'm not talking about this anymore." WTF?? I completely validate you. Is there any chance your DH was angry at himself more than you calling him out on his behavior? I've called my DH out on his weekend trips to Home Depot. He didn't get it until I asked him how he explains to DD(22) that she has to stay home while he can hit a store whenever he wants.

Thank you everyone. Not only was it an INCREDIBLY stupid and irresponsible thing to do, I am just so, so disappointed in him. He watches the news constantly and they are saying we haven’t even hit the peak yet. And, god forbid that any of us end up in the hospital, we’ll be alone. I mean, our twenty-something year old kids know better than to this! All these people putting their own lives (and their families’) to protect us and keep things running, and this is what you do??
I think tonight I’ll suggest he move in with one of the co-workers for the next two months. Tough shit.

I validate you! I’m Dubai, you get a fine if you have more than 3 people in a car. Also, only one person goes to the grocery store. My son hasn’t been in the car for 28 days now.

Well, I will be the lone dissenter and say I think you are overreacting. I think what he and his coworkers did was stupid, but I think you are overreacting. I work as a respiratory therapist. Do you think I should move into a hotel and not see my family for the next 2-3 months? You do realize that health care workers take care of patients and go home to their families?
I hope I don’t get completely blasted for this, but health care people are dealing with enough. I hate the thought that everyone thinks we should be locked away when we are not at work. I go to work and I come home. I’m careful not to go around others except for my family. Give your husband a break. He made a mistake.

He made a mistake. there is a picture of a doctor in Orange County, showing his tent setup in the garage, because he doesn’t want to risk infecting his family, so he has decided to physically separated himself. Maybe it’s extreme, but I’m sure his decision is based on his experience where he works.

Often these posts I think people are overreacting - not this one, I validate you 100%. I had to go out with a co-worker the other day for an essential task so we took a larger car and I drove while she sat in the rear passenger side. The car was wiped out on all the touch surfaces before/after.

I’d be upset!
My hubby travels out of state for work. They limit to 2 in a vehicle.
We hen he returns home I greet him at the porch, make him leave all his gear there, and he goes up to shower immediately upon return and his clothes go into the laundry.
We disassemble his gear the next day.
He grins as I’m *making* him do it (he actually does it on his own) but he knows it could be serious.

I respect your comment, but your job (and those of nurses, doctors, etc.) requires close contact - it’s an essential part of your job. Going to lunch together is far from essential and is 100% a voluntary choice that he made and could have avoided. I also have no way of knowing if this is the first time (I doubt it). I do not and will not criticize how medical staff and those that have no choice regarding social distancing on the job handle their situations at home. We are all so grateful for the work you and others are doing, but part of that appreciation means that those of us who can distance ourselves SHOULD. I hope that makes sense.

Thanks, I agree with you that they should not have all gone to pick up lunch. This is a really stressful time right now for everyone and we probably should all extend a little grace to one another. Sorry if my post came across as rude, I didn’t mean it to be. I hope tomorrow is a better day for us all.
