We were out of the Costco white kitchen trash bags and DH could only find these terrible scented bags. WTH- who thought of this? They stink worse than garbage. And we could only find the Scott 1 or half-ply see through TP... terrible.
I kept blaming my DD that she spilled something while making her lip balms and scrubs for the terrible smell.

I have no idea. The smell drives me crazy. I remember when I bought some of them on accident.

I accidentally got scented ones by mistake once. You're right. YuK! It sure as heck doesn't smell any better than garbage.
Hmm... maybe that's the point. Distract from stink with stench.

I kinda like the vanilla ones in the 8 gallon size for my bathroom can (it's a little too big for reusing plastic shopping bags). But I typically only smell it when I put a new bag in or take the full one out.
The ones that smell like laundry product (febreze? gain?) or lavender would drive me crazy, though.

I don't like scented trash bags. The floral ones (lavender) are the worst.

When I had my first baby, DH was sent to the store and he picked up a HUGE package of the scented ones. To this day I can still smell that baby poop/"clean scent" trash bag combo and it makes me sick. That baby is about to turn ten years old! They are gross.

I hate trash bags with any scent. They bother our allergies.

Thanks for the warning ladies. I'll put them on my never list.
By the same token, why is windscreen cleaner scented?? Dh picked up a container on one occasion only to find it was blackberry scented. Driving along the motorway at 70mph and I decide to clean my windscreen, who exactly is going to benefit from the scent?

It’s something about the way plastic and those artificial scents combine. It’s really heinous.

Exactly! It seems that 90% of them are scented with something- a lot with Febreze. I have accidentally bought the scented ones a few times and can't stand them.
Same thing with deodorant--why does Secret have 20 gazillion scents when all I want is unscented? And I've accidentally picked up the scented ones also--those containers are sitting in my closet and I'll only use them if the pandemic creates a shortage on deodorant. I hate smelling the fruity/flowery stuff all day.

The Kirkland brand bags has something in them that when you put coffe grounds in the resulting smell is close to sour vomit. I wonder if itvsome to do with recycled plastic?

I would take anything with a vanilla scent over those nasty floral scented ones any day of the week. And lavender is the WORST. It makes me want to puke.

I buy UNSCENTED everything.......soap, detergent, fabric softeners, etc.
I always wondered--if you use soap with xx scent, deodorant with another smell, then put on fabric scented clothing and top it off with perfume---aren't you making yourself a huge scent bomb?

I bought some scented ones for dog poop (i was out of the grocery store bags)... our dog's poop smells SO bad so I am always trying to find ways to cover that smell but still be able to put the poo in the trash can.. The scent is gross and it didn't do to much for the poop smell either.... for a bit I had vanilla scented poop. Don't ask.

It's so hard to find unscented bags. I get the Costco Kirkland brand which is unscented, but ours was out of bags for a few months last summer. So I got some Home Depot bags that worked. I don't like the scented bags at all!

YES, yes you are! And for people who have sensitivities to certain fragrances being in close proximity to people like that is nauseating. I get a headache just watching the commercials for stuff like Downy Unstoppables or Febreze.

DH likes the scented bags, but I don’t. There are times I use bags to store items and don’t need everything in them to end up scented.
