What's the deal with Gracepoint, the new show on Fox? It's the exact same show, even the dialog is the same. (And of course, David Tennent is in it, too. And sounds so strange with an American accent.)
I know there are shows here that are based on British shows all the time, but to even copy the same script and storyline? I really see nothing different other than it's in California instead of the UK. Will anyone be watching?

I haven't watched either, but I'm interested in catching it because David Tennant is my imaginary boyfriend.

I thought Broadchurch was excellent. I've heard there will be some changes in the Gracepoint version but from what I've seen, I don't see it. I'll probably at least watch the first couple because of David Tennant and go from there.

I loved Broadchurch, but I don't think I will be watching the Fox version, especially since it looks to be exactly the same thing.

I loved Broadchurch too. I wasn't going to watch Fox version but will probably give it a shot for David Tennant.

I thought Broadchurch was one of the best shows I have seen in a long, long while. I will probably still watch the re-make when it comes out on Fox this fall, but I am not optimistic it will be better than the original.

I'll probably at least watch the first couple because of David Tennant and go from there. Yeah. Something like this. I had hard time following the dialogue in the BBC version, so maybe Gracepoint will be easier, but I've heard many people be critical of Tennant's American accent (and to be honest, after seeing the "we will find you" commerical, I think they should have let him keep his native accent). But what REALLY bugged me about the UK version were all of the various missteps the cops were doing that a good US defense attorney totally would seize on once the case gets to trial (and no, I don't remember any off the top of my head, I just remember cringing when I realized what was going on and saying to myself "that would NEVER fly over here"). Maybe I will watch to see if any of those legal issues are fixed.

I really loved the first half of Broadchurch but didn't love how the show wrapped up. I haven't watched the Fox show because it does look like the exact same thing.
What I am waiting for is The Killing. Come back!

I've read in a couple of different places that the killer isn't the same, so I'd imagine it starts out the same but then goes off on it's own. I didn't realize it was on already, guess I'll have to go look for it.

I really liked Broadchurch, and I will watch Gracepoint. I do agree that David Tennanf sounds strange with an American accent! The only thing I've heard they are changing is the ending, there is going to be a different killer. Which I'm find with, I didn't really like who the killer ended up being in Broadchurch. I was hoping they would have changed the show a lot more, for those of us that have seen Broadchurch. It's crazy they have it scripted exactly the same. I'm sure the BBC version will be better!

There's a follow up.... Series 2 of the British version later in the year. They're filming it now.
I really can't imagine it working as Gracepoint. I've just watched a preview of it on YouTube and it was really strange watching it on two counts a. filmed in the US and b. with an American script.

Gracepoint's ending is supposed to be completely different. Personally, I thought they should have had DT's character come to the US for R&R, then get involved in some case. I'm not sure I want to hear DT without his accent.

I thought Broadchurch was one of the best things I'd seen on TV in a long time. Even if the US version makes it onto TV over here I won't watch it. With the exception of The Office (which was good but not as good as the original), US remakes tend not to be as good as the original. It's almost insulting (to US viewers AND the original series makers) that they do remakes. It's almost like they're saying that the US public aren't capable of enjoying anything other than American shows.
That's my take on it anyway.

I hadn't heard the killer would be changed, that makes me more inclined to watch.
"What I am waiting for is The Killing. Come back" AUGUST 1st on Netflix - woo hoo!!
Sorry don't know how to quote on this new board yet.
