Its mandated here but I haven't been in a store in 6 weeks so no idea. When I do grocery pickup everyone I see has one now but a few weeks ago no. I have heard that not everyone is wearing one in the stores but that was maybe a week ago when it was only a few days into the mandate.

We went to Costco and Target yesterday in TX, and I’d say maybe 1-2 were wearing them. In Dallas, it’s required.

I went to target and the grocery store today. I would say more than half the customers had masks at target, less than half at the grocery store. The 2 stores are about 5 minutes apart, so I don't know why mask wearing would be different. Maybe because target has all the employees wearing masks now, and the grocery store had zero employees in masks. I got an email from a different grocery store saying that all their employees will have masks and to please wear one when you come to shop, but it was just a request. I'm sure plenty of people are saying this is America blah blah. I would think that the employees appreciate customers wearing masks, and it would be nice if all these jerks could cover their pie holes to help keep the employees safe and the stores open.

Masks are now required here and stores are supposed to deny you entry if you don’t wear one

Maybe he's one of those fine citizens that won't get the COVID19 vaccine because it's how the government is going to secretly implant a GPS in us.

I’m in a county that requires them. I went to the store and 100% of the people were wearing them. In fact, I was greeted by this sign and security guard barring entrance in case anyone decided not to wear a mask.

They are required here but the use of masks seems to be shrinking. We are probably at 50% now. Last week dh was refused sale at the local liquor store because he did not have a mask. This week he wore a mask but we watched others not wearing masks go in and out & purchase alcohol. I went inside the local gas station to buy a quart of oil today and was surprised how many customers did not have a mask.

Then people will know not to put any stock into what someone below “x” points is saying.

I know a few people who have a high I.Q. but have low -good- decision making skills.

Masks are not required here in SC and I see relatively few people wearing them when I go to the grocery store. Less than half, for sure.

Most are wearing masks around here too even though only a few towns require it. You definitely look more out of place NOT wearing one.
dh works in grocery and they finally had to a police officer doing security in the store because of the many incidents they were having with people. People behave worse than ever when stressed I guess.

We are not mandated, but it is highly recommended. Critical workers are required by law and any of those that work in close proximity to each other. When we did a grocery pickup a short while back at Walmart, we watched the people going into Walmart and estimated only about 25% were wearing masks. And what was sad, the parking lot looked like Good Friday shopping. Hard to spot even one empty parking spot clear in the back lot.

I'd like to see a forehead tattoo that would indicate if a person is a bad decision maker. I know a few people who have a high I.Q. but have low -good- decision making skills.Exactly. There isn't always a correlation between IQ and decision making. It always bothers me to see people toss about low IQ as the answer for poor choices/decisions. A person with a truly low IQ can't help that and I find it very demeaning to imply it equals stupidity in all areas. I see it happen way too often on the board as of late.

LOL Up here we are just scratching our collective heads about your governor. I truly hope it all works out. OP, sounds like the guy was either having a very tough day or is wound awfully tight. Same. It's definitely political. I think he's trying to appease his more rural fan base where COVID hasn't really impacted them much and it's crushed the economy. I understand that at some point every governor will have to take a calculated risk and the financial strain will play into it...it just feels early. I haven't seen hard numbers, but my overall sense is that most places in my area (I'm on the fringes of metro Atlanta, but I would say the further you get towards the city the more the more true this is) will choose not to open even though they are legally able to. I've seen a lot of restaurants and salons say "nope, not happening." But my gym is opening, although in a pretty restricted way. So I don't really know. EDIT: My gym was opening on May 1 when I wrote this. We got an email over the weekend that said "we're not ready." New target date of May 16th. I also really didn't like that there is a specific line that says that city leaders cannot supercede the Governor's order. So, Keisha Lance-Bottoms, the mayor of Atlanta, cannot tell Atlanta to stay shut down, because of that. She's urging them to, and it seems like some of our well-known Atlanta African American celebrities are urging barbershops and salons in the city to please stay closed - the AA community has been hit hard, and they want them to stay safe. Our city put a post on Instagram that said that they are not allowed to keep businesses closes - I think so that they won't get backlash from us being like "what the hell?" It was ok for them to close their cities before the Governor announced them closed, but they aren't allowed to keep them closed now. It's crazy (sorry for making a grocery thread about local Georgia politics!)

If you're going to be an idiot don't excoriate people who are utilizing common sense. I'm guessing the other guy was either nuts or just needs anger management.

what a jerk
I live in NY and everyone is wearing one. I went to Target last night and didn't see a single person without one. (though one lady had hers just covering her mouth, ugh)
I don't see anyone complaining about it around here thankfully.

I just talked to a colleague who lives in NY. She, her daughter and brother have all had Covid. She had breathing problems, lost sense of smell/taste, fever and was in bed for 10+ days. Her daughter had headaches and loss of sense/taste. They've both recovered and have been symptom free for a few weeks. Her brother ended up in ICU and is recovering (thankfully). She is still wearing a mask, because until we can be sure you can't get it again, she doesn't want to risk it.

I'm sorry. Ds and I went shopping yesterday. 98% were wearing masks. We live in one of the few Bay Area counties that hasn't made it mandatory. They played 80s tunes the whole time I was there I loved being able to sing quietly all I wanted and no one stared because they couldn't see my mouth. Cheered me up. How can you not sing to "You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)"?

It's funny that No shoes, No shirt, No Service is a normal accepted thing, yet add one more small piece of attire required for SAFETY of ALL and people are losing their ever-loving minds.
