I was watching "The Best Thing I Ever Ate" and one of the hosts asked what was your most memorable lunch.
Mine would be the lobster roll I had from a food truck in Washington D.C. It was phenomenal and has wrecked all other lobster rolls for me. I believe it was Red Hook Lobster Pound.
A local told us that she chases down this truck every day , so we had to try it!

My most memorable lunch was at a small restaurant at the docks in PEI. The blue mussels were caught that morning and the wine cream sauce was so delicious. Then came a fresh steamed whole lobster, PEI baked potato, clarified butter and fresh corn on the cob. I had time to savour all of the flavours and everything was simply so fresh.

I went to Channing Tatum's restaurant in the French Quarter and had crawdads. They were so good. I had low expectations too since he's a celebrity.

Lobster is one of my top two or three foods and I have never had a lobster roll. I am going to have to hunt one down. My most memorable lunch had nothing to do with food.

When I was 13 we went to Cancun for summer vacation.
There, we went to a beach that the access was through a small if you sneezed it would fall down restaurant.
The restaurant only had 2 items on their menu ceviche and whole fish. OMG they were amazing!!!!! I did not eat fish or wouldn't eat fish before this. I now dream of this place sometimes.
We've gone back to Cancun now that I'm an adult and the restaurant is gone. It was so sad for me.

My sister and I travelled around Europe for 3 months at the end of 2018. One place we visited was Bordeaux in France. Our first day there, we did a morning walking tour, then walked along the riverfront towards the city's wine museum. We stopped at a restaurant long the way and their lunch 'plat du jour' was confit duck thigh with fries. It was simple but amazingly good, especially with the lovely glass of red wine the waiter recommended to us to accompany it.

It was last summer at total hole in the wall place on Daufuskie Island in South Carolina. I had a grilled pimento cheese sandwich with potato salad. OMG it was SO yummy. I hadn't hadn't had potato salad in over decade since my grandma died. The atmosphere was um..interesting. But the food was great!

I loved our lunch we had one day in Montreal, at a roof top restaurant called (something) William Grey. The salmon, the views, the wine, the service was all so good! We loved the location so much we went back one night for dinner and drinks.

My most memorable lunch was a client meeting. My collegue was a very sauve but funny guy and we were both young and new to the job. We had invited out our clients together to break the ice. We were at a little French restaurant, very good, very expensive, very exclusive and we both ordered the fish of the day, lotte (I think it’s called monkfish in English). When it arrived it was huge and not very cute, in fact there were whiskers on his portion. We looked at each other and burst into giggles. All four of could not stop laughing and making jokes and the lunch quickly turned into a party with lots of wine consumed by all.

Funny no lunch immediately jumps out... But when I was little we used to vacation on Vancouver island and we would always pack a picnic lunch then boat over to Hornby Island- eat lunch, swim and build sand castles then go home. Lunch was probably my sandwiches and potato salad

Grilled octopus and ouzo at a little beach cafe in Greece. Warm breeze, sound of the waves lapping at the shore and perfectly tender octopus.

Our 16th wedding anniversary with our two then younger sons. We were at Epcot at WDW. We mentioned it was our anniversary and they surprised us with a cake! It was a little 6-inch, perfect for the four of us, cake, and it was the yummiest white cake I have ever had.

Soup dumplings at Joe’s Shanghai in NYC with my then 10-year-old daughter. We had just been wandering aimlessly around Chinatown and Little Italy that morning, and when we came upon Joe’s we decided to try it out. We sat at a big table with some young men who were there on a guys’ trip. One of them was an elementary school teacher, so he took an interest in my daughter and we had the nicest chat while we ate delicious dumplings.

Many great lunches over the years, but the one that came to mind immediately was with a couple of friends about 12 years ago. One of the girls lived in Abu Dhabi so made reservations at Mezzaluna in the Emirates Palace hotel. One of the best Italian meals I've ever had! It was also the most expensive lunch I've ever had! Back then it was something like $150/each!

Most memorable.... The meal my husband and I ate sitting in our car along the road on a wine tour. We opened a bottle of wine, had cheese, strawberries, etc. Just sitting in our car. (before you get your knickers in a knot, we threw the keys out the window so we wouldn't get an open container/dui. And he did not further partake. Just me)
In the summertime, we take our kayaks out on a small lake near us. (fishing lake) and have the same thing in our boats along the shore.

It was a few years ago. I was supposed to be meeting my dd for lunch at Olive Garden on my birthday. I walked into the restaurant to get a table. When I walked past the bench near the door - someone said “mom”. It was my son who lives in Boston surprising me !! He had a baseball cap on and I never for one second thought he would be here. It was just him and me. I was floating on air. 😊

My most memorable was in Little Italy with my brother in NYC. We had garlic butter chicken sandwiches and egg creams. The sandwiches were huge, but were so delicious we couldn’t stop eating. We were going on and on about how full we were and that we wouldn’t need dinner because we were so stuffed, we couldn’t believe how much we ate, etc. etc. We were still being all dramatic about how full we were when we found ourselves about a block away from the sandwich shop and a beautiful bakery window caught our eye. We stopped to ogle all the delicious pastries and just looked at each other and walked right in to order dessert.

A few years ago we had a patio lunch at the Aulani while we visited the lagoon. I ordered a lobster roll which was my first ever and it was delicious. Great drinks and good food and beautiful setting made it amazing.
I’m ready to go back.

The best thing I've ever eaten for lunch was roasted pig from a little beach shack in Puerto Rico. My most memorable lunch would be the Royal Sunday Brunch on the Queen Mary.

My most memorable lunch was in Farfa, Italy. My first and so far only trip to Italy, we had flown from Sicily back to Rome, got on our tour bus headed to Assisi for a few days. This was a stopover at a monastery for Mass and lunch. Our bus dropped us off at the bottom of the hill and we walked up the old walkways and saw a wedding as we entered the town center. Beautiful bride and groom, then we had mass in a chapel. We heard no cars, no music, it was like we went back hundreds of years, we couldn't see any power lines either. Our meal was pork medallions, fresh green beans, and the nuns were so hospitable. We all agreed it was our best meal of the 2 week trip.

Freshly caught fish cooked and served while we sat at the only table on a tiny deserted beach on our anniversary during a holiday to the Maldives.

When we visited the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, we had a 3-course luncheon in their cafe. It was beyond amazing!

Pimento cheese sandwiches in Augusta at The Masters tournament on a blindingly beautiful day. Scrumptious! And the setting was what dreams are made of.

We had a family reunion in Maui a number of years ago. Most of our group took off to go to Hana but my husband and I stayed back with his parents as they were elderly and not up for making that trip.
My father in law wanted to go somewhere for lunch. He knew there was a special place he really liked but couldn’t remember the name of the restaurant. My husband took him up to the concierge to see if they could help.
It was Mama’s Fish House. The concierge was able to get us a reservation for that day! So off we went.
It was one of the best meals I’ve ever had but what made it so special was seeing how happy my husband’s parents were to be there after many years. They were absolutely delighted!
My father in law is gone and my mother in law is in hospice care now so that’s a special memory for us.

Last summer, we went to Gordon Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen restaurant in Vegas.
We had lobster risotto, a beef wellington, and a short rib dish.
The short rib was okay (good but not exactly show stopping), but the wellington and risotto were so delicious (and now we know why he yells at all the chefs messing those dishes up on the show). Like, I made my picture of the risotto the image for my vacation countdown for a reason.
We were looking forward to going back this summer, but, well... that was in December. (We were planning to go out for a convention and while we have no problem with the casinos' plans for social distancing, we're pretty sure the convention is going to be cancelled. We're currently in the wait and see phase.)

I find it interesting that a lot of you are saying the atmosphere/landscape/surroundings had a lot to do with the lunch being great. I have quite of few of those lunches-sitting on a hotel rooftop in Rome eating risotto while the sun sets. Having wine on a balcony in Capri as the sun sets. I think my thing might be sunsets!

One was gumbo at the Oak Alley Plantation in Louisiana. We had a wonderful day exploring the house and grounds and then ate lunch. The kids were 5 & 7, so we hadn’t ordered them their own gumbo. We quickly changed that and ordered two more and brought got their peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to go for their snack!
The other was these Brie and tomato sandwiches on a fresh baguette we had in this little town outside the Chateau de Cheverny. The sandwiches were so simple, but so good and even DS ate them and loved them. The woman at the shop was so kind and had us sampling wines as well. The chateau is known for their hounds, which were all in a big puppy pile snoozing in the mid-day sun. It was a magical day, even though we had been up before the sun!

Pimento cheese sandwiches in Augusta at The Masters tournament Their pimento cheese is legendary. I find it interesting that a lot of you are saying the atmosphere/landscape/surroundings had a lot to do with the lunch being great. That is true as I'm having a hard time coming up with a food experience that isn't equated with its related setting! So many wonderful meals in so many unique places. I'd be hard pressed to single out one.

It was in a little outside cafe in London with friends. I ordered panzanella (a favorite of mine) with some finely shaved roast beef. It was heavenly. I make this every year at least a couple of times in the summer when the vegetables are in season.

I had lunch with my grandmother, mother, and aunt in San Francisco at Wolfgang Puck's Postrio (now closed). I believe it was the early 90s?
It was by far the fanciest, most impressive lunch I have ever had. I still remember what I ordered.
Pumpkin ravioli with sizzling walnut butter. Seriously. I remember every bite.
Crème brulée with fresh raspberries and blueberries. This was the first time I'd ever had it and it was like a miracle.
I'm kind of a foodie now, and this was pretty much the start of it.
