Florida got it right! Texas got it right.
How stupid does Hannity look now?
You can't gaslight a pandemic.
Viruses gonna virus.
You can pretend all you want. You can "believe" all you want.
Physics, chemistry and biology are real.

I am putting my feet up gloating and eating popcorn while our governor slowly, smartly and methodically reopens. I wish I could send a glam shot to Hannity that he would actually show on Fox.

"'From worst to first': These states have tamed coronavirus, even after reopening. Here's how they're doing it, and why they can't let up By Holly Yan, CNN Updated 11:25 PM ET, Wed July 15, 2020 (CNN)When Covid-19 suddenly ravaged New York, hospitals looked "apocalyptic." Refrigerated trucks turned into morgues because there wasn't enough space for all the victims. That was March. Three months later, the state had "done a full 180, from worst to first," Gov. Andrew Cuomo said. Now, the rates of infection, hospitalizations or deaths have plummeted in New York and several other states -- paving the way for full economic reopenings. It's the opposite of what's happening in most of the US, where the virus is surging and more than half the states have paused or backtracked their reopenings. Here's how some states have helped get coronavirus under control -- and what they're doing to make sure it stays that way: " CT NY MA NJ VT www.cnn.com/2020/07/15/health/coronavirus-under-control-states/index.htmlHmmmm - maybe because these states followed the guidance of HEALTH EXPERTS not fairy-tale believers?

"Florida now has more Covid-19 cases than any other state. Here’s what went wrong. Florida’s governor took a victory lap on the coronavirus. Now his state has the most cases in the US. Florida now has the worst ongoing coronavirus outbreak in the country. Since the beginning of July, Covid-19 cases in the state have gone up nearly 60 percent, with hospitalizations and deaths rapidly rising as well. Florida now has 20 percent more daily new Covid-19 cases than Arizona, 70 percent more than Texas, and more than double California. Florida drew headlines on Sunday for surpassing the record for the highest number of new cases reported in one day, previously held by New York (though that was driven largely by Florida having much more testing than New York did at the peak of its outbreak). The percentage of positive tests over the previous week hit nearly 19 percent, which is almost four times the recommended maximum of 5 percent. The high rate — an indicator of how widespread infection is, as well as whether an area is conducting enough testing — suggests Florida still doesn’t have enough testing to match its Covid-19 outbreak. As bad as things are in Florida, the state is likely undercounting the number of cases. It wasn’t always going this way. Just weeks ago, Gov. Ron DeSantis made media rounds boasting about Florida’s response to the coronavirus pandemic, rebuking those who had criticized the state’s actions, and bragging that his state had managed to keep Covid-19 cases low despite a slower, less-aggressive lockdown and a quicker reopening than other places. In a May article from the conservative National Review — titled “Where Does Ron DeSantis Go to Get His Apology?” — DeSantis said he “was doing a good job,” spending much of the article arguing that his critics were wrong and that he’d been purportedly driven by the data and science in his response. DeSantis bragged about how quickly the state was able to reopen due to his great response to the pandemic, saying that “what we did in March and April is the equivalent of what New York will be or California, when they go to phase three” — in reference to California’s slower-moving phased plan for reopening. Now, though, experts say it’s that rapid reopening — mixed with public complacency that the virus had been defeated and lackluster action in the previous months — that led Florida to its current crisis." www.vox.com/future-perfect/2020/7/17/21324398/florida-coronavirus-covid-cases-deaths-outbreak

Greetings from Florida. "We're $#itshow, but we've got beaches." I'm here in the middle of it. Yikes. And sunshine, right??? DH and I moved down here 9 years ago, thinking it would be like NY (LI) or even NJ, all year round. I quickly became concerned about beaches down here (& all bodies of water down here), FL'S running water issues, the pollution here, the "rainy season" extending to much more than half the year(& much more than just a passing shower each day like it used to be!! We've moved onto monsoon rains daily for 6-7 months. I won't step foot on any beach down here, at all. I despise the gulf beaches (water is dead, dirty and gross, and the sand is also groses).I would never go into a river here, or even the ocean side of the State. No thanks. I quickly lost my trust down here. The poorly run mafia type gov't lies about the filth and danger down here just to keep making tourist money. FL is nothing it proports to be and I wish I knew that before we moved down here. Tourists and people considering the move down here should get real information. I never would have come & if we're ever able, we'll get out and head back to NY, where gov't is run better and you know what to expect.

I dunno. As a Nutmegger, I’m trying not to be all gloaty and stuff, especially when I hear shit like a bunch of our 2020 HS grads decided to have Senior Skip Day last week (in July) and converged by the hundreds to the beaches, unmasked and no distancing.

"Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis stood outside the White House two months ago bragging about his state's triumph over the coronavirus. "We succeeded and people just don't want to recognize it," he blustered. Then, jabbing his finger at reporters, he scolded the press: "You've got a lot of people in your profession who waxed poetically for weeks and weeks about how Florida was going to be just like New York," he said. That was May 20. A little less than 10 weeks later, Florida, with DeSantis at the helm, has become a global ground zero for Covid-19 cases and a poster child for the Trump administration and its closest allies' failures in responding to the pandemic. The nationwide angst over schools is playing out in pointed clashes between teachers and DeSantis, who is pushing hard for a full-scale reopening. Trump's obsession with hosting a live, in-person convention extravaganza, supported by DeSantis, collapsed under the weight of the crisis. And the Major League Baseball season has been thrown into doubt as the sports world waits to see if the outbreak among Miami Marlins players and coaches spreads to other teams.... Public health concerns appeared to take a backseat to politics when the state issued its mandate for a full reopening of schools. But last week, with cases, hospitalizations and deaths mounting, DeSantis took a half-step back from that directive, saying he would support teachers and parents who felt their safety this fall demanded a return to remote learning. His statement came amid a surge in Covid-19 infections among children under 18. Over eight days, there has been a 34% jump in positive tests and a 23% increase in hospitalizations. The figures, from the state Department of Health, also showed the positivity rate among minors ticking up 1 percentage point overall but approaching 20% in Miami-Dade and as high as 25.3% in Martin County on the state's Treasure Coast." www.cnn.com/2020/07/27/politics/ron-desantis-donald-trump-florida-coronavirus/index.html

DeSantis' victory lap in May reminds me of GWB on the aircraft carrier crowing about "Mission Accomplished" two seconds after the Iraq war started. GOP. They'll never learn that saying doesn't make it so. Give it a minute and see if you're really "won" what you think you've "won". " Florida reported a record increase in new COVID-19 deaths for a second successive day on Wednesday, with 217 fatalities in the last 24 hours, according to the state health department. Florida also reported 9,446 new cases, bringing its total infections to over 451,000, the second highest in the country behind California. Florida's total death toll rose to 6,457, eighth highest in the nation, according to a Reuters tally." www.aol.com/article/news/2020/07/29/florida-reports-record-increase-in-covid-19-deaths-for-second-day-in-a-row/24576055/

Just wanted to add (because of the ‘irony’?) my nephew needs to report in 2 weeks prior to school to self isolate in his unfurnished unprepared apartment that he is renting for the first time (his parents may not be allowed to cross the border to drive him there with anything he has from home-so he may have to fly there with just a suitcase). But all the other American kids coming from all the other COVID hotspot states are fully free to do whatever they want. No isolation required. 🤔🙄

Physics, chemistry and biology are real. Not to that crowd! DeSantis bragged about how quickly the state was able to reopen due to his great response to the pandemic, saying that “what we did in March and April is the equivalent of what New York will be or California, when they go to phase three” — in reference to California’s slower-moving phased plan for reopening. Let us not forget that Florida and Texas and some others I forget, got full supplies right away before the blue states got what they NEEDED, while Florida was so busy bragging!

DH stayed in our bedroom to isolate. We've known these guys for almost 10 years and they're sweet BUT they began talking about Covid and it upset me. Their belief is what they hear repeated here, that Medical Examiners are getting paid a lot of $$ to lie and list causes of death as Covid. I asked one of the guys to stop and think about that. I asked him why doctors would put their careers at risk by taking money to lie about death certificates. How does that make any sense? He said, "You're right. It does sound crazy, but we know that there haven't been this high number of Covid deaths...". How? ? This is the type of crap getting repeated by people who just can't grasp Covid as being real. They're not taking it seriously. I feel like this will go on and on if people like this don't understand the truth.
