My son took the bar exam this week. He won't know the result for quite awhile, but he feels it went well. I wrote a book about an F5 tornado which devastated my hometown in 1955. I was really sad because the big, public book signing at the museum in my hometown had to be cancelled due to covid. However, the museum hosted a much smaller covid aware event at which I spoke and signed books. The book has been selling well in my hometown even though we couldn't have the public event. I'll never write a New York Times bestseller, but I have written a bestseller in my hometown! Wow! That's really cool. Do you have a link to the book?

Wow, MichyM . I hope you get some nice cool air to sleep in tonight! And that is a lot of $ for an electrician just to walk in the door! I thought $75 or $100 for a plumber was a lot! I'm back to the "good news" part of this thread. After 22 hours without power, fans, portable AC (it was 90 yesterday and upper 80's today), and internet...I am back up and running!!! And it turned out to be a faulty breaker (as well as something that happened to the line as a result) that they installed 2 years ago, so it cost me nothing. I had visions of it turning into a thousand dollar job while he was here, so I'm relieved.

Ds21 gave Logan his first driving lesson! It was just in our driveway and backyard. - he’s 15 and you can get a permit in NJ at 16. He wanted to move the truck to weed under it. He lined it up perfectly for him, encouraged him, and trusted him with his truck. Logan listened and did exactly as he said. Such a win-win.
Then, shocking all of us, he had him back it up, do a k-turn and pull it back out into the driveway. He actually did a really good job! And if you could see his smile!! So proud of himself. I am proud of both of them.

I heard this morning that my granddaughter has her first baby cousin, a little girl born on Sunday afternoon. It will be lovely for her growing up to have a cousin so close in age.

got results back from biopsy on my breast and it was benign. need final "okay" from pathologist that image results match biopsy or something.... but cautiously optimistic. and i got a *real* job.... i start august 18. since i split with my ex, all i could get was these part time jobs for flakey real estate agents (many of my best friends are realtors so not a slam on the real estate professional but in some cases, there is a reason these peeps are self-employed). OR for some strange reason, always working for an individual owner in the office alone. i have spent a lot of time ALONE. no hotline support, no one to ask questions. very little training. and for various reasons none have worked out. it's been 5 different jobs since 2018 people!!!! i have a job for a real company, with a salary, i will be paid by direct deposit, have paid vacation, training, tech support, benefits and COLLEAGUES. i hope it works out this time - i am pretty excited! I am so, SO happy for you!

This past weekend, my company sent us each a little care package with a $100 visa gift card, a mask, a mini hand sanitizer and a box of cookies from a local bakery. (we've been teleworking since March) It was a really nice surprise.
