Who knew that the Jews had a National Park - the most beautiful one in my estimation- named for us. and to think I have been mispronouncing it my whole life.

do you know - if this was happening to anyone else I would feel desperately sorry for them but also get angry that they were put in a position where they were clearly out of their depth, flounder and look like an idiot. However...

At last he's not going to Anti-yo! Semite. It would be a shame to hate Bridal Veil Falls.
What a doufas!

That was painful. No one goes over the speech with him and makes sure he understands the words (or at least can pronounce them?!)? Ouch.

Wow. You can see him pause and kind of think to himself "that doesn't sound right. Let me try again..." and say it again. Holy shit. Come on, people. None of you can possibly support this. He's a flaming idiot. Or suffering from dementia. Neither of which should be holding the highest office in America.

However... Everyone mis speaks and or mispronounces words from time to time. I mean hey, I live in NJ were so many things are not pronounced as they are spelled. If that were his only fault, I would giggle & move on. That imho is about the level of the tan suit.

geeze.. most people who go to yosemite look at the granite mountains.. sequoias are in the south end where many fewer people explore.. esp since there is another park down the road called Sequoia National Park.
The construction of the sentences implies that the Old faithful geyser is in the Grand canyon.. it is quite a ways away... in Yellowstone...
what an idiot.

LOL. I can't wait for the "excuse" that you know he is going to attempt when he finds out people are making fun of him. I just can't imagine how he is going to spin this one.

Well, I'm pretty sure he never set foot in one of these places. I mean, he is not naturally inquisitive to the point that he would go just to see the sights. Oh wait, maybe he did go, because he thought there might be a way to get a casino squeezed in there with another trump tower and golf course. Stupid national parks taking up all that great real estate for no good reason.

You can see him pause and kind of think to himself "that doesn't sound right. Let me try again..." and say it again. I believe the correction was "yo- seminites" most people who go to yosemite look at the granite mountains.. sequoias are in the south end where many fewer people explore.. esp since there is another park down the road called Sequoia National Park. I was slightly confused at going to Yosemite to see the sequioas, too. I was waiting for him to reference a visit to Jellystone Park to see Yogi Bear.

When Apple chose Yosemite as one of their IOS’s names I was a goner. Still can’t say it properly because it just doesn’t roll off my tongue. I always end up with "yo-sem-a-nee" somehow.

I mistakenly pronounced it “yose-mite” during a class presentation when I was 10 and my entire class broke out in giggles because they all knew that was wrong. So...

My 7th graders at school=possibly won't pronounce Yosemite properly, especially if they haven't been there. The president of the United States=come on, people! How can this happen?

I strongly believe that Trump is dyslexic, and try to keep that in mind when he struggles reading things out loud. My DS is dyslexic and I've seen him make the same kinds of mistakes.
That said, if you know you struggle reading things aloud, you ask for clarification of any words you don't know how to pronounce before you stand at the podium. I don't believe he cares enough to read anything beforehand. Maybe in his mind it shows a weakness on his part to admit needing help and, for whatever deluded reason, looking like an imbecile while mispronouncing everything, somehow, doesn't? I'd say it takes great mental gymnastics to live like that, but who are we kidding, he isn't fit enough for any sort of gymnastics.
I wrote out Yosemite for DS and asked if he knew that word. He studied it for a second then came up with the correct pronunciation on the first try. We talked about how he arrived at it. He doesn't think he's ever seen it written before, but he has heard the word and through process of elimination of what words began with "Yo" he came up with it. He also pre-reads anything he knows he will have to read in front of people to avoid embarrassments like that. It's one of the reasons he disliked in-class reading so much.

Too bad he’s not speechless😜 that WAS painful... you could tell he knew it wasn't quite right when he said it, but he didn't know the correct way to pronounce it, so he did it again. (you can totally tell when he screws up and then tries to cover it up by rambling on with a sort of 'you know what I meant' patter, but in this case, he thankfully just kept reading the notes.) I’m jealous. It’s not fair that, as a Lutheran, we don’t have our own National Park. bwahahaha!! yeah! I'm angry, too!

His sense of self is do inflated. He really believes he can do no wrong and therefore won't admit that he does anything wrong. It's another example of how rich people have no one that will tell them the truth, because if they do, they're fired and replaced with someone who will continue to blow smoke up their arse. So they have an intense lack of judgement, self inflated confidence and are a danger to themselves and others.

Hey, I just came up with a possible rationale!
He tried to pronounce it the best that he could and just didn't have any frame of reference for the correct pronunciation. He thought about the correct pronunciation, but thought, "No, that's Sam from Bugs Bunny, so that can't be right...."
