If I’m questioning the cost vs. rewards, I cancel. Same goes for Costco and any big box stores with annual fees to shop. One can always renew. I do the same for premium channels. Got HBO anytime a new season of Game of Thrones was running, then cancel till next season.
I didn’t get Prime until last year for all the reasons stated here. I never understood the hullabaloo about online shopping. But I received a free year of Prime and a bunch of discounts while shopping online during this year’s SIP. Good timing for us I guess because we’re enjoying the TV shows, movies, and music. We shall see once things calm down if we keep it next year.

IMO it depends on where you live. I can put something in my cart and move forward with it being delivered to me, and it will show arriving in a couple of days. Change the address to DD who is in a smaller city in south Texas and it can show up to a week. The difference has to do with what is in the warehouse and where the warehouse is relative to the end destination.

I was happy with Prime until the pandemic hit, and things were greatly delayed/unavailable at the beginning. Now we’re a few months into it, shipping speeds (at least in my area) have returned to pre-pandemic levels. They pack orders well, and we use Prime for movies. The last three Target shipments I’ve gotten, the boxes come looking like Godzilla sat on them—crushed and half-open.

Music. You do remember we are in a pandemic and shipping on all platforms is slow right?! I still get everything from target in 48 hours (usually 24) with my red card free shipping. OP, cancel Prime and get a Red Card. Target Red Card holder...my Target orders never came in 2 days. More like 4-5. Even before the pandemic. Plus a Red Card doesn't get you everything AP has.

It was in a box 3x its size with no packing material 🤦♀️🤷♀️

I’d be willing to bet that a good part of the delays was due to so much manufacturing in China being shut down in the spring. And now the shipping speeds are slow because UPS, etc. is overwhelmed. My BFF’s DH is a driver for UPS and he has been working at Christmas delivery levels since March, often working late and not getting home until 8-9 pm at night every weekday. It’s brutal.

Is it coming later than the date it says when you check out? You have to be really careful at checkout. Sometimes later days will be checked to “ship in less boxes” or “ship on your prime day”. Mine always come when they say they will but I have bought from different sellers before when one said it would get here in 4 days, and another 2 days.
And really, this board is kind of all about “first world problems”. Most of us were people who had extra time and money at one point to scrapbook and also had access to technology to get on here talk about it and complain about everything we can’t complain about in real life. With out first world problems there is no pea refugee board.

I still get alerts on my tracking numbers that the recent hurricanes have affected shipping speeds and now all of California is on fire as well. It hasn’t changed my opinion of prime, I use it for more than just two day shipping.

We have a free trial to Prime right now and I am loving it. We order one item, less than $25, and it is here in 1-2 days. I am surprised when it arrives the very next day. We are fairly close to a major distribution center (less than a 2-hour drive). I am debating about keeping it when the trial period is over.

i think i live near distribution centers so i still get a lot of stuff in 2 days. however, that's not the only reason we have prime. we enjoy access to the music and movies/tv streaming services too.

Music. You do remember we are in a pandemic and shipping on all platforms is slow right?! Not the OP, but I've always had issues with Prime.Way before the pandemic. Even my subscribe and save items have had issues.

They are building an enormous warehouse about 12 minutes from my house. Pretty sure I'll be keeping Prime.

I haven't had problems with shipping but I'm aggravated that they charge for so many of the Prime shows and movies!

Knock on wood, but my Amazon orders are coming in 12-18 hours after ordering! I think that’s cause we have a new warehouse in Houston, but even when coming from Dallas it was never more than 24-40 after ordering. I can’t complain. Even when I get a later date, it always seems to arrive much sooner.

Just for where I live, Amazon is my go to. And I share an account with my dh and father. How long it takes isn't huge on us because we really don't want to go to the stores.

I'm in Pittsburgh and most things come within the 2 day shipping timeframe. I find the convenience alone to be worth it and the selection with the reviews. I also listen to their music sometimes. I order quite a bit of stuff (just got my bf a wrap for the seatbelt to ease the shingles pain from the seatbelt rubbing his rash). He calls me Primetime now. LOL

Even better is the free returns I can drop off at the UPS store without packing it up for shipping. There's almost never anyone in my UPS store when I go, and that was before covid, so I don't mind popping in there. It's less than a mile from me and Amazon basically processes the return as soon as the store scans my QR code.

I ask myself that everyday. The shipping is the only reason I have Prime. I don't use any of the other Prime things. I live outside of town so most of the time my "2 day " shipping is a week. Now it's about a week and a half. I've been having things delivered to a friend's house 30 minutes away and I can get 3-4 shipping to that address at least.

You can return Amazon orders at Kohl’s or UPS free as well, without Prime. You don’t even need a box.

You do remember we are in a pandemic and shipping on all platforms is slow right?! I don't have slow shipping when I order from Walmart or Target, but Amazon is crazy slow. It can take 5 days to two weeks to get stuff now, that used to always be here in 2 days. It's frustrating. If it wasn't for Prime Video and Music, I would probably cancel. I have ordered some things for my daughter, who lives on the other side of the state. Same item for me and her. She had it in 2 days. It took 5 days for me to get the same thing.

It has free returns? I didn't know that. Next to the price it will say “prime + free returns” if applicable. You have approx a month to return it. I really should have said, free and hassle free returns. Doesn’t work? Doesn’t fit? Don’t want it? Return! Go to your orders, click on the last thing you purchased. There is probably a return window. Click your reason for return and how you want to do it. Print the mailing label and attach it to the box. You can drop off at an authorized drop. there is a ups “mailbox” a few blocks from my house, or I can drop it at Staples. If I don’t want to package it I can take it to kohl’s With the return label and they will take care of it. I’ve also left return packages on my porch and UPS has picked it up. I just returned a package of iPhone cords this week bc one of the ends snapped off in my phone. Easy peasy.
