I actually have not tried one. I've only heard people rave about them. So, hmmmm... I may have to rethink this. My son loves his. He isn't a chef and I think people who don't enjoy cooking get the most use out of them. We have one and I love it for certain things- they are definitely faster than waiting for an oven to heat up. I have made homemade egg rolls and won tons and they were much better in the air fryer than the oven. HAHA! My son came home from college and was THRILLED that I had one. I gave it to him to take back to school

Woot (an Amazon company) is having buy one, get one shirt free, free shipping if you're Prime. They have some great funky t-shirts. Ring Doorbell 3 is $99 if you order from your Alexa. I am super tempted. I have the old Ring and this is supposed to be much better. I'm looking for a computer - a touchscreen for my daughter. If anyone hears of a good deal, that would be great.

Amazon is fairly new here - I've been buying Kindle books for years, but most other items would not ship to Australia. We've only had Amazon Australia for a couple of years, and I've never actually bought anything from there.
My son needs a Chromebook for school next year, and they have a Prime Day Deal on one that will save me $160. That's a HUGE saving! But I'm not a Prime member. It's not really worth it here, because we don't get the super quick shipping that you get in the US.
So I have a question - do you think I could join up for my 30 day free trial of Amazon Prime, buy the Chromebook, then cancel at the end of the 30 day trial? Has anyone here done that before for a Prime Day sale?

It's not really worth it here I can't believe you've never bought anything!! I think it's worth it, we can get a bit of stuff from USA, as long as we buy it via Amazon Au...and with Prime as long as it's over $50 even postage from the USA is free. I just looked - I've had 65 orders in 2020 (a few of those are books though) Plus there's Prime TV as well. I always buy a bunch of stuff on Prime day.

My son needs a Chromebook Chromebooks SUCK...seriously they do. We had them in my classroom (I retired 3 years ago thank god) and if the internet was down, can't even sign on. There's a reason why they are so cheap. Look for something better.

I love her recipes...saw her on Dr. Oz and she was so nice and down to earth (or so it seems)
Anyway $49 for her 6 qt instant pot on Walmart is quite a deal. I hope Prime Days has a deal so you can get one.
Thank you! I admire the way she has grown her business from a passion. I apologize, picking on her voice seems petty. $49 instant pot if you use Alexa

I see that the Echo Show 8 is on sale for $64.99. It's a "want" not a "need." I'm on the fence, because I'm not sure if I'd use it enough. Enablers?

I can't even run a meet from my classroom on the school wifi without mine crapping out on me. My daughter is doing school from my classroom on a district chromebook on district wifi and gets kicked out. No better at home. BUT many schools REQUIRE a chromebook. Get a PC laptop if you have flexibility and low funds. Otherwise- MacBook all the way! My kiddo and I NEVER get kicked out of meets on them!

Has anyone cooked the Sous Vide Cooking method? I would love to try I have the Anova Sous Vide. I have used it a few times. Not something I pull out often. One of those, "oh yeah, I think I'll get those steaks in the water at lunch and brown them when I get home" type of things. You set the water temp to the doneness of the food you want. It gets it to that point and then it stays warm. Get home, take it out of the bag, dry it off and sear it up. I have also done egg bites using it. I have also done a pork tenderloin in it. Perfection!

Doesn’t sound like something id use it if it helps put dinner on the table I’m game.

I need a bread machine for a Christmas gift and I don't have a clue what to look for as far what a good brand even is if one went on sale. So any help there would be appreciated! It depends on your price range. I didn't want to spend more than $200 on one, and I had a LOT of time to research because they were sold out for months. So I read everything I could about them, then went with this one because of the ceramic pan and the variety of features for the price point:
I couldn't be happier. We use it almost every day. Well, I use it almost every day, and my family reaps the benefits.

It sits on the kitchen counter and I use while I cook, right now I am watching my way through Downton Abbey for the 2nd time. I also use it to bring up recipes from the internet so I don’t have to look them up on my flat IPad which always go into screen saver mode way too soon. We also use it with our Ring doorbells. We can see who is at the front door or driveway etc. But what I really love is that we put up a Ring on our backdoor so we can use the Echo Show to see when our dog comes back to the door and is ready to be let in after going potty. You can watch YouTube videos and other shows and easily see the time/weather. There is also a option for video calls which we have never tried.

I’ve been listing over the Instant Pot 8 qt pressure cooker/air fryer - similar to the Ninja Foodi pressure cooker/air fryer, but it has always been $179. It is currently $119, so I ordered it. I use my Instant Pots several days per week - they both sit out on the counter - so it will replace my old 8 qt (2.5 years old) and be well used.
I think that that will be my big purchase for the day.
eta: there are a lot of great Instant Pot deals today.

I thought we could help each other out here in preparation for Prime Days which are Tuesday and Wednesday. I'm not a gadgets girl, but I'll be looking for a Food Saver. It's just for me, so it won't get a ton of use. I often cook 4-8 servings of an entree and freeze the remainder in single serving portions. I'd also like to pre-marinate proteins and freeze them marinated but not cooked. I'd like to parcel out things like shredded cheese (which I use very rarely) to freeze, etc. I'd also like to be able to mail baked goods like quick breads and have them stay fresher while on their way to the recipients. Wondering if anyone wants to share an opinion about which model would be best for me, which accoutrements I want, and what a decent price is. I've been looking at Kohl's this morning and they've got them on sale ranging in price from $100 to over $300, so I wonder if I even need to wait for Prime Days? Anyhow, who's next? Is there something(s) that you'll specifically looking for? Things you need advice on before purchasing? That sort of thing....and thanks for any advice you can offer on Food Savers I assume by Food Saver you mean a vacuum sealer. FYI, you can't vacuum seal shredded cheese. It just smooshes back into a block. Trust me, I've tried. You could try parceling it into the pouches, freeze it for a few hours before sealing, then seal it after it's frozen.

These days I use my FoodSaver half the time sealing meat to cook with my sous vide. It is the best way to cook red meat, hands down. Yes... this is what I need to hear. I want to start doing this. How do you know how long to cook the meat? Do you season it then seal? It depends on the cut of meat. A steak is done in 1-2 hours. A brisket can cook for 36 hours. A cheap bottom roast comes out as tender as prime rib in about 8-12 hours. I salt and pepper the meat, put it in the bag, add about 1-2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce and a sprig of either rosemary or thyme (I grow them in my kitchen), and then vacuum seal. If it is a particularly lean cut of meat, I may add 1/2 tablespoon pat of butter.

How do we find out what's going on sale and when? Is there a link to a list? HELP! There's a couple of things you can do. From the Amazon search bar, you can change the dropdown for the what-to-search from "All departments" to "Prime Day" then search for specific things you're looking for. If you just want Amazon to show you everything and then pick out what you might be interested in, click on "Prime Day Deals" at the upper left. Then I'd look at the timed things first, so click Lightning Deals in the blue section. I'm not interested in what I missed, so I make sure that on the left sidebar under Availability, that I'm only getting active & upcoming items.
