I thought we could help each other out here in preparation for Prime Days which are Tuesday and Wednesday. I'm not a gadgets girl, but I'll be looking for a Food Saver. It's just for me, so it won't get a ton of use. I often cook 4-8 servings of an entree and freeze the remainder in single serving portions. I'd also like to pre-marinate proteins and freeze them marinated but not cooked. I'd like to parcel out things like shredded cheese (which I use very rarely) to freeze, etc. I'd also like to be able to mail baked goods like quick breads and have them stay fresher while on their way to the recipients. Wondering if anyone wants to share an opinion about which model would be best for me, which accoutrements I want, and what a decent price is. I've been looking at Kohl's this morning and they've got them on sale ranging in price from $100 to over $300, so I wonder if I even need to wait for Prime Days? Anyhow, who's next? Is there something(s) that you'll specifically looking for? Things you need advice on before purchasing? That sort of thing....and thanks for any advice you can offer on Food Savers

I finally decided to get an air fryer. I'm hoping they have a good price on one with all the bells and whistles.

I finally decided to get an air fryer. I'm hoping they have a good price on one with all the bells and whistles. I finally decided to get one and I got a good expensive one. They just don’t work right. They’re better than microwaving, but not much. Everybody who keeps telling me that they’re so fabulous has showed me their food and it’s not that fabulous. Make sure that you’ve tried somebody’s and liked it before you buy one and that is my best advice.

I may have to rethink this.

I like tater tots the color of chocolate, very well done and it would take 40 minutes at least in the oven. Takes 12-15 minutes in the air fryer. I am reluctant to cook salmon any other way, it is so good. I use it for left overs (french fries or certain Chinese Foods and it is great for that as well. Don’t even get me started on vegetables in there! So quick and delicious. Tots and vegetables and things like that I do in the basket, salmon and chicken I put on an elevated rack. We had a plain air fryer and it wasn’t big enough and it although it did ok for veg and tots I never liked it for meat, this is so much better. We like the dehydrate function too, I use it for kale chips and watermelon, my husband uses it for other fruits like bananas and apples.

I finally decided to get an air fryer. I'm hoping they have a good price on one with all the bells and whistles. I had nearly talked myself into an air fryer, but ultimately decided against it. Reviews I have been reading all point towards a convection toaster oven being a much better option. The Cuisinart Chef's Convection Oven gets top rating most of the time. If you have a convection oven already, you might not even need to get a countertop version, unless you just want one.

We got it for the air fryer & because it also grilled, but it was more trouble than it was worth! It's a pain to clean and our smoke detector went off every time we used it (even though we didn't use oil)...... Good luck!

It just smooshes back into a block. Trust me, I've tried.

I finally decided to get an air fryer. I'm hoping they have a good price on one with all the bells and whistles. I know this thread is about Prime Days, but if you have a Costco membership, they have a digital Cuisinart one on promo right now for $159 which is an awesome price. We just got one for our house to replace a basket air fryer that we didn’t like as well. It’s nicer than the non digital one we bought for our cabin that was the same price (also from Costco) around Thanksgiving last year.

If you aren’t freezing for a really long time it will still be fine.

I'd also like to be able to mail baked goods like quick breads and have them stay fresher while on their way to the recipients. I haven't tried to seal something like that but I would think they would be squished when all the air is sucked out of the bag. elaine might be able to give you more direction. I use it mainly for sealing large (Costco, Sams') purchases of meats. Also, every time I go to Costco I buy a rotisserie chicken and pull all the meat off the bones and freeze in small packages for different recipes such as chicken divan, Chinese chicken salad or chicken noodle soup.

This has been our experience too. We use ours all the time at the lake and just bought another Cuisinart for our house. It’s way better for stuff that you want to stay crispy and not soggy, like reheated pizza.

It just smooshes back into a block. Trust me, I've tried. You can, actually. You just stop the vacuum action before it gets to the point where it sucks every last iota of air out by hitting “seal.” You can also put shredded cheese, or anything delicate, into glass canning jars (for cheese you can use the tiny 1/2 pint jars) and use the jar attachment to suck the air out. I really like vacuum sealing things in canning jars. You can also vacuum seal chopped lettuce in the large quart or half-gallon sized jars and it will last up to 2 weeks without browning. eta: it doesn’t look like the jar sealer attachments are available right now. I don’t know if they stopped making them or if they are not available due to the pandemic.

I want one of those all-in-one charger station thingies -- don't even know what their real name is -- that can charge an iPhone, the Apple Watch, etc. Someone posted about this in the Christmas thread that was started the other day. Also we need a new Firestick. Those won't be hard to find of course, but I just need to keep my eyes opened -- or have someone else keep theirs opened -- for when it's on sale.

We use our air fryer for wings. We love how it cook them! Being unsure of cooking times seems to stop me from using it for other things. The wings are worth it though!

I saw Alexa dots are $18.99 again. And if you shop at Whole Foods and use their app, they give you $10 credit for Prime Day.

I would love to pick up a couple of those all-in-one charging stations too. A deal on Prime Days would save me from wading through all the options. monklady123, let me know if you find any!
