I asked my ds if any of our downtown was boarded up since he was down in the area last night and he said “no”. We had a small amount of damage at a couple stores during the June protests turned shit show after dark by outside groups, but it was shut down pretty quickly by the local protesters and police. I think things will remain stable here. I pray so.

Yes.
All of the corporate owned businesses. Many of the mom & pop shops.

I'm reading about it for Worcester and Boston in MA. It's positively frightening to me that this is even a thing and I can't understand how EVERYONE isn't horrified by this. I hope that none of these precautions being taken will be needed and that somehow tis country manages to get through the election without triggering something major and awful.

They showed stores being boarded up on our television news last night. It was quite shocking to watch to be honest. The reporter commented by saying " Is this the face of American Democracy" I'm so sorry for you guys that this has to happen for the results of an election of all things. I can't stop asking myself the question of what the hell has this man done, and is still doing, to your country.

Chicago started boarding up last week. The city has taken such hits this past summer. The mayor has come out and talked about the heavy equipment that they are using too besides the stores boarding up.
So very, very sad.
Add me to the list of "NEVER in MY LIFE". Yeesh, I remember when voting took place in the learning center in my school. The kids were kept to one side while the public voted on the other side.

Nothing here that I'm aware of. I just can't believe that this could be happening here, in the US. It just breaks my heart. Everything about this year has made me step back and say - No, how can this possibly be the USA? Please let today be the first step away from this whole mess, taking us into a better America.

Yes, in downtown Seattle. I catch my bus home from work right downtown and the businesses all along 3rd ave are now boarded up. There are blocks and blocks of boarded up bars/restaurants, etc in historic Pioneer Square, but those were boarded up months ago when Covid shutdowns started. You can tell the difference because the covid related ones hired artists to make gorgeous murals on the plywood. I have dozens of pictures of the beautiful artwork there. The newly boarded up storefronts have plain plywood and were just put up a few days ago. I also got an official email from the city saying that if I own a business or construction site, I should move everything inside and secure it prior to tomorrow afternoon. Since I posted earlier, I got a text from a friend who lives in downtown/Belltown who says that police there have told residents that they may not be able to leave their apartments and to be prepared not to go to work Wednesday. I don’t know if that was a formal notice or if she just ran into an officer who told her that, but that would explain the boarded-up downtown buildings.

In Houston, according to the local paper, just a couple of high-end shops boarded up. But we had very little violence or property damage here during the summer demonstrations, so I guess they figure we still won’t have it.

Not in my town where downtown is dead and the only march we had was closer to city hall, away from businesses.
A few businesses in the city where DH's office is have already posted that they would be closing early. There's a park in the middle of downtown that has always been the starting point for a lot of protests and marches. Businesses closest to that park are closing early. I haven't seen any reports of boarding up but I wouldn't be surprised.

I haven’t noticed anything here I picked up DD yesterday and driving hone didn’t notice anything either. ( wasn’t in philly proper though ) Main st in New Hope PA wasn’t boarded- lots of construction but not boarding up. Neither was Lambertville NJ
My town isn’t either but we don’t really have a commercial main street or a gathering place that could become a problem. Just a couple strip malls.

I haven't been to downtown Louisville in months, but I would imagine things might still be boarded up from the Breonna Taylor case.

I'm 1/2 way between Providence and Boston and some stores, in both cities, are boarding up. I haven't noticed anything in my town but we're tiny and rural.

DD is assistant manager in a suburban outlet mall ( an outside mall). Her chain sent email that she is authorized to board up and close the store if a situation arises. I said, who does the boarding? She had no idea and couldn’t imagine going to Lowe’s to buy boards, nails, etc.She said she and the crew would lock the doors and go out the back door. I hope nothing happens here or anywhere.

I’m in the suburbs, so not near me. But I’m sure there are areas in the cities that have. All of the kids in hybrid school have a home day today though because so many schools are also being used as polling places.

I’m about 1.5 miles from our DT (Seattle) retail core and a friend who lives DT (Belltown) posted on his IG today showing more businesses being boarded up again. Many businesses have not taken them down after all the protests in the summer. Then I was just texting with a friend and she mentioned she was DT this morning and that it was unsettling to see all the boarding up going on. So unfortunately yes. I’ll be curious to see tomorrow if anything in my neighborhood decides to board up. Never in my LIFE could I have imagined an election like this one. NEVER.Seriously. This feels surreal, right? What I can not understand is after everything, how is this not a huge, gigantic wake-up call to the GOP? How are they okay with what he has turned this country into? What they have allowed, heck, what they’ve helped with? Party over country...the evidence is right before our eyes. Small town outside of San Antonio here, an extremely red county but I doubt there will be any boarding up even though we have had the trump trains for months. Right? I feel like this is an alternate universe. One thing is very clear to me, though. I will never forget those in office who let this country slide down into this.

Not here (yet?) but our downtown streets are pretty much closed off for construction anyway.
My hubby is traveling in another state for work, and he called me last night and asked me to please take our Biden signs inside—based on what he was hearing a bunch of jackasses talking about yesterday.
While I know how to properly use our guns, I’m not afraid or in fear of having our home attacked.
But since he’s out of town and worried, I did pull in our signs this morning.

Yep, I'm about 15 min outside of Minneapolis where all the rioting was this summer. Haven't seen anything in my city, but I haven't left the house since Saturday so it is possible.

A friend owns a salon in an outdoor strip mall place. They had to board up their own windows. It was not done by the property management company. They have a regular handyman that had to run to Lowe’s and buy wood and stuff to board up their windows during some of the BLM protests. Luckily it turned out there was no issue in our suburb.

Boarding up here in Charleston, SC, mostly in the downtown area. Local colleges are prepared in case of violence.

DD lives in Philly and she said businesses there have been boarding up all weekend. She's on the east side of the river, near Rittenhouse. I asked her last night what word she's hearing in her area, and she said absolutely everyone she knows in Philly is voting for Biden/Harris. She's so worried that those rural counties in PA are going to screw it up for the state, however. Her employer and many of her friends' as well have given their teams the entire day off to make sure they have time to vote.

I feel so ignorant for asking, but what the hell is going on? Never in the history of ever have businesses felt the need to board up their storefronts in anticipation of a presidential election??? I have felt for the last four long, hellish years that we're living in some kind of alternate universe, but this just takes the cake. He is building a goddamn fortress in front of the White House! Who does that?
What is the expectation? If Biden wins this election, are those trumpers going go invade our cities and burn them down? There's actually a site where you can check what cities are most at risk right now for militia engagement. The Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project, along with Militiawatch, are warning residents in Philly, Portland, Atlanta, as well as the specific states of Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Oregon and Wisconsin of "high risk for armed conflict from "militia groups" aka domestic terrorists. Moderate risk states are listed as Texas, California, Virginia, New Mexico, and North Carolina. I can't even wrap my head around this.

Yep, boarded up and some are even closed today.
Portland has been embroiled in active protest (some of which have devolved into violence) practically ever night since May 25th. No matter who wins, and I don't believe we will find out tonight, there will be protests and the potential for outright violence is palpable.
Everyone is on edge.

I’ve read places in nyc and DC and boarding up their windows. I live in St. Louis and didn’t really think about it happening here. On my way to the grocery store this evening I noticed a Walgreens boarding up their windows. That was the only place I’ve seen so far though. How is it where you live? I live in St. Louis in south city and DH said the Walgreens at Chippewa/Kingshighway was boarded up. Not sure if ours is. That’s all he noticed while he was out running errands.

Our "leader" turned the white house into a fortress and the others will follow suit. Based on recent history he's showing us that he's about to start soon shit and we know the same. Theyre boarding up because our president is a terrorist.

I so never thought I would see what we are seeing now. I always thought we were different. What we are seeing are what you see in third world countries not here. It’s so sad what we have become. I keep hoping for change and healing. I haven’t been to our old town to see if it’s boarded up we are between two large cities that are though. Lots of Trump supporters but so far they and all the protests we have had here have been peaceful and I hope that continues. I watched with tears though when riots hit my hometown and destroyed blocks of businesses.
