You want Reason #4,129? Catch the episode where Jim Bob teaches his oldest son, Josh, about sex--and compares it to Legos. Jim Bob seems to be talking an awful lot about sex on the show, lately... It seriously creeps me out.

Agreed, that is just creepy! I also feel somewhat bad for josh. Feel like he is overshadowed by the girls. Jim bob is way too into his girls

I just don't get the no physical stuff before marriage, I just don't. Chaperoning grown ass adults is just weird. I also find it so sad they get pregnant right away. No time to enjoy just being in love and with your partner, just sad to me. I don't get why holding hands kissing or even having sex before marriage is bad.

I don't like hearing about people's virginity and waiting and not waiting and kissing and "getting caught" and old married people...it's stupid. And something that should be private and personal.
Myob and don't subject me to your private moments please...

Maybe if they would have sex before marriage no babies... but then I guess birth control would be an issue..

Up until a week or so ago I had never seen any of their tv show. It simply didn't interest me and I found what little I knew about the family to be unappealing. So I was watching some Say Yes to the Dress episodes and doing work on my laptop. I was engrossed in my work and didn't realize that SYTTD had ended and 19 Kids and Counting was on. It was like a train wreck, I just couldn't look away. I was sure this all had to be some kind of joke! Those are two creepy ass parents! Seriously, seriously creepy. I would be willing to bet they are the kind of people who, in person, give you those "creepy people stay away" gut feelings you get about some people. Then I see this? Ick. Just ick.

You do realize that the talk with Josh (the oldest son who is married and has three kids) was from several years ago, before his wedding, right?
And the JimBob/Michelle, Anna/Josh, and Jill/Derrick kissing pictures were in response to criticism from the public that Jessa and Ben received about the picture the newest newlyweds posted after their wedding.

There was some talk about Jessa and Ben not having their first kiss in front of the wedding guests. After leaving the ceremony they found someplace to be alone and had their first kiss.
DH and I kissed before we married, but at 21 we were still virgins when we married. He was my first kiss, and although I have nothing else to compare it too, I think he is pretty good at it.

I read they were getting negative feedback bc some people thought the photo was very racy and sexual looking.. I think some people get too involved, lol. I'm sorry, but the only people that I could imagine finding that 'racy and sexual looking' are the Duggars themselves. Awkward, maybe. Sexual, no.

Ghastly. I've wanted to punch Michelle's lights out since I saw pictures of her posing with her last, poorly baby, and even though the baby was ill, she was in full Elizabeth Arden mode, with that ludicrous hairstyle primped and sprayed within an inch of its life. And this is the bit that got me, she was looking at the camera and not at the baby in the picture. All kinds of wrong. The husband strikes me as a completely characterless sperm donor.

No time to enjoy just being in love and with your partner, just sad to me. I don't get why holding hands kissing or even having sex before marriage is bad. I do understand the principle behind no sex before marriage. While sex is a great, fun part of life, I do think it should be taken seriously. I like the concept of saving that piece of yourself for your partner. Doesn't mean everyone has to agree or follow, but I get it. The kissing and holding hands.. I don't get at all. Both are normal symbols of affection that you should be able to share with someone you are committed to. If you are so tempted by kissing that you might fall into sex (lol) then maybe your morals or values aren't as strong or as important as you want people to think. Same for the adult chaperones. I find it beyond ridiculous that 25 and 23 year olds were harassed about chaperones by Jim Bob. If they have both made the commitment to abstain based on their values, then that should be enough. Once again, if they made the choice for personal reasons and feel that strongly, then they should be able to follow through without someone breathing down their necks about it. They are adults, not children who need babysitting.

I had the same thought that the Duggars were going to think the picture was inappropriate. I myself thought it was interestingly awkward! Apparently modesty only applies to the unmarried though. Once married.. It's a free for all sex fest apparently. ;p

I'm sorry, but the only people that I could imagine finding that 'racy and sexual looking' are the Duggars themselves. Awkward, maybe. Sexual, no. I'm afraid you would be wrong. People commented like crazy about how it is inappropriate for Jessa and Ben to share the image of them kissing; that it was immodest and inappropriate, etc. I think the parents took a pic to show support of their daughter and it was their way of saying she is a married woman and it's ok. Having had a baby in the NICU, I can assure you that I did not look at my child every moment. And there are pictures taken of me and my daughter in the NICU where I am looking at the camera. I promise you, I loved her very much. I happen to like their family and I admire the way the live their lives. Do I do everything the way they do? No. But that doesn't mean I think they are crazy or wrong. It works for them and that's ok. I think having a personal choice to save yourself for marriage is a great thing. Did I? No. But part of me wishes I would have. And LOTS of people having children at the beginning of their marriage. Heck, many people already HAVE A child when they get married. I don't know why it bothers anyone that they want to have children right away. Again, I didn't have a child right away, but I don't think it's really fair to think someone should have a waiting period to start a family because that's what was right for you (general you).

My kids would disown me if I ever reenacted a personal photo of them like that. I have never seen the show, and have absolutely no context, but I'll give my opinion anyhow. My personal opinion: ick.

Why is it a bad thing to race to have a child right away? Because they've barely gotten to know each other by the time they get to the altar. You can say they courted for a year but not really. They were never alone, never got to explore each other intimately, never actually got to be a couple... just props for their creepy parents. Honestly? They need to wait a long long time to have kids so that they can find out who they are as a couple and if they are indeed compatible.
And that first photo was just obviously staged looking. That people are crying that it's racy and immodest is stupid and the people doing it need to get over themselves. That others in the family thought it would be a good idea to copy the photos is just freakin' creepy. These people need to separate themselves from this family and get far away so that they can actually have a life. Not that it worked well for the older son who moved away, but there's always hope of breaking out of the disaster.

So what if people commented on the picture of Jessa and Ben's kiss. If you don't want people commenting on your kiss, don't put the picture out there.
They are grown married adults now. I don't think it's necessary for Jim Bob/Michelle, Josh/Anna and Jill/Derrick to all post pictures of themselves doing the same thing.
If they had all just left it alone, it would have gone away. But no, they all had to take pics of themselves doing the same thing, so now it's back out there.
