I am just curious about the side effects from those that have received their second Covid vaccine. This is for those that received the 2nd shot. I have been curious if there are more side effects from one or the other. I have done some research online, and while I see that the Moderna vaccine has more of the actual vaccine than the Pfizer one, I am not seeing much of a difference in side effects. So, a *very* informal poll to the largest group of people I know online

Ugh, I can't help but I'm interested in your poll. I had the one dose Janssen (JnJ) and had no side effects, not even a sore arm. DH and DS both had Moderna, and felt tired and sore arm. 30 yo DS felt flu like the next day or so after the 2nd dose. DH said he felt a bit under the weather, but didn't have to miss work.
Edited: I forgot to say DS2, who is in his mid 20's, had a terribly sore arm and was sick/missed work the day after the second dose. It was worse than the first dose, but he had it rough with both. He also had Moderna.

My Moderna side effects were between mild and severe but I chose mild. I went to work feeling achy and fatigued but managed to make it through the day. By the time I got home though I had a low grade fever and chills and went to bed. I was fine the next day.

DS had side effects but seemed to go on with his day, although his day consists of only leaving his dorm room for meals. He said it sucked but then said he was fine, did whatever he had to do online that day for school. My DD was out for a day with side effects after he 2nd moderna. She napped quite a bit that day. I’ll let you know after Friday if I have the same.

My Moderna side effects were between mild and severe but I chose mild. This. Your poll needed an option in between mild and severe. I had body aches, low-grade fever, lethargy and very sore arm but I wouldn't call that severe. I pretty much read and napped all day. Took Tylenol before I went to bed and woke up feeling fine.

This. Your poll needed an option in between mild and severe. Ack! I have no idea why I didn't add a "moderate" option. Any ideas how to edit a poll? lol

Pfizer. Nausea in the middle of the 3rd night after the 2nd shot. Headache and exhaustion on Day 4. Fine after that. My arm was much more sore after the first shot than the 2nd.
ETA: Oh and I had the swollen lymph node in my armpit after a few days. I only noticed it when applying deodorant.

I haven't read the responses yet, but my supervisor (she's in her 30s) read some infomration online that said pre-menopausal women have a stronger immune response because of their higher estrogen levels. Her husband told her to 'think manly thoughts... but not too manly' when she got her second one, lol.
I don't doubt that is true about vaccines, women, and eliciting stronger reactions (thus, more side effects)- but if it is true, then why don't they tell people that in the vaccine literature??

I heard the interview of a local doctor. She said in her observations people who had had Covid react worse after the first dose. People who hadn’t had Covid react worse after the 2nd dose. I wish I could remember which vaccine she was talking about. DH and DS got Pfizer and I got Moderna. None of us was diagnosed with Covid.

Twelve hours after receiving the second dose of the Moderna vaccine, I was feeling icky/very run down. 24 hours afterwards, I had a 104 fever and chills. It’s hard to explain, but I wasn’t as miserable as it sounds. It was miserable, but I felt way worse when I had a case of influenza and similar symptoms. 36 hours later, I felt perfectly fine.
ETA: I never had Covid (as far as I know) if that adds anything to the discussion.

I had my second dose of Pfizer on Saturday. I voted mild symptoms - I had a low grade fever and fatigue on Sunday. Same for DH.
I could have gone to work but I was glad I didn’t have to. Woke up normal on Monday

I ended up with a swollen lymph gland in my left breast (side I got the shot on). It has been 6 weeks since my second Moderna shot, and it is only just now starting to go down. I am waiting to schedule my mammogram until it goes away.

My husband just got his second Moderna shot yesterday afternoon. He woke up last night (just about exactly 12 hours later) with chills, fever and body aches, took some advil and fell back asleep. Today he's been laying on the couch feel blah with a mild headache, slight fever (last check was at 99) and body aches. Says his arm really hurts too and it didn't hurt at all after the first shot. Only issue he had after the first dose was the bad red arm lump and itchy rash, which he still has a slight redness, so he got the second shot in the opposite arm. We are hoping he will feel much better tonight.
My second dose is Friday, so we shall see how I do.
We never had or even suspected we've had Covid.

I had sore arms, but I do not consider that even mild, so I said no (Moderna).
I consider myself ridiculously healthy. I would be interested in a poll showing the general health of the person who got the shot. For example, my neighbor gets everything. A few weeks ago she had her colonoscopy and barely functioned the next week. She had severe reactions to both Pfizer shots.
Other people I know who are hearty, have no side effects. That is NOT to say that hearty people can't get side effects!! I just wonder if people who are prone to sickness get them more easily.

My DS and I both got Pfizer. I had no side affects with the first or the second dose. DS felt really bad the day after the first. He is getting his second dose on Thursday. I'm very interested how he reacts.

Got 2nd Pfizer yesterday. Today I feel... run down and I have a low grade fever. Which is pretty much how I felt the day after the 1st dose. But it's 1000 x better than getting Covid for sure. I felt worse after Shingrix

My husband and I both got our second shot last Saturday. No side effects from the first nor the second. My husband's arm was a touch sore at the injection site but that was it. Neither of us even felt the injections.
We both had Moderna.

Not an option on your poll, but.....
I had the J&J vaccine and had mild flu like symptoms as did adult DS. DH didn't have any side effects.

I know this wasn’t your question, but my oldest kid was extremely sick for 4 days after the first Moderna, ended up going to urgent care. They sent her home and told her to take Tylenol and go to bed. She then broke out in hives.
She was supposed to get the second today and Walgreens wouldn’t give it to her and said she should have it at the hospital to be safe. After several phone calls no hospital will give her the second and say she’s going to have to wait and might be able to get the J&J.
This sucks.
Also the current protocol is to wait at least 4 weeks after second vaccine for a mammogram. i had to reschedule mine.
This sucks.

I had moderna. The second vaccine reactions were not what I expected. I took a day off expecting some reaction. I got my shot at 1245. At 5pm the following day my head got really heavy and wonky. I made it to bed before passing out I don’t know if I passed out or just fell asleep but I woke up 6 hours later in the exact same position. Got up, ate got a shower and then slept for another 12 hours. I don’t normally sleep like that. That’s the only odd thing that happened. I have not had COVID to my knowledge

The day after her shot she slept from 2pm until 11am the next day 😳

I had my second shot at 3:30 this afternoon, so I'll have to get back to you. The second shot itself hurt way less than the first, but so far, I have nothing to report. I'm two Moscow Mules down though. Such a relief to have it over.

I think we need to be careful how we word this because it may scare people who are vaccine-hesitant. IDK how to vote because I don't agree with how this is worded. I had a mild reaction but it did knock me out for about a day. But "headache like the worst hangover ever, where your brain is clanging around your skull" and plain-old exhaustion are NOT severe symptoms. Annoying? Yes. "Severe"? No, they aren't, even though I did rest basically all day after my second vax.

Moderna. After the 2nd shot every single joint in my body hurt. I just ached all over from head to toe from about 5AM to bedtime. I was very surprised to wake up the next morning and feel completely fine.
