My first for the month! It started with this sketch, which I am still crushing on - love that diagonal through the page! sketch with banners under photos by kirstendrew, on Flickr My layout uses the "Birthday Boy" line by Simple Stories. I'm REALLY annoyed that companies continue to make "boy" and "girl" lines. This line is a wonderful bright birthday line and I'd highly recommend it. However, there are only "birthday boy" phrases, no "birthday girl"! layout cavalcade of wonderment by kirstendrew, on Flickr

kitbop - that is a fun sketch - I'll have to give it a go also. I love your layout -the title is fabulous and I love all the embellishments. I share your issue with gendered birthday lines.

LOVE the sketch kitbop !! And your layout too, of course. This LO is for Sketchy Saturday April 3. It's a photo of my sister, and her best friends and my then-boyfriend, on her 15th birthday. I chose this photo because it went well with grammadee 's colour scheme for one of the April colour challenges, and two kits that I just bought. I also managed to get in kitbop 's recipe: patterned paper from at least 2 different collections, something I've purchased in the past 6 months, Nuvo / enamel drops, text print (on the grey petals of big flower), baby blue.

I'm off too a good start this month as I was able to finish a 2 pager in 1 day. I intended to simply scrap my 5x7 photos, but then found a bunch of small photos that were from the same moment at the beach. So I followed the " grammadee method of 2 pagers"... start one page with a sketch, then figure out another page that coordinates. I love that I didn't fuss about with papers going ACROSS the 2 pages here, or photos that all lined up... Oh, and I tried the "Missy Whiddon method of white splatters" - cheap (OLD!) white acrylic paint, a bit of water and a paint brush. This was wondrous and I'd really encourage anyone who wants to splatter to give it a try. The paint is heavier and splatters SO much easier. And it dries so opaque. LOVE IT! layout team drew versus lake huron by kirstendrew, on Flickr

Love this! How did you do “wonderment”? Thanks! It's an alphabet die that cuts both the interior and outline. I die cut 3 sets of letters in white cardstock to get a "thicker" letter. And for the contrast edging, I coloured one outline in orange before I added it to the top.

Finished another yesterday afternoon, tried to do a few challenges along the way! I am loving the Echo Park Winter Magic collection!
It is loosely based (if you squint!) on the Sketchember #7 challenge and I also used the old stash/tools wit the Fastenator Sentiments staples. I have the long reach one so I can get them almost anywhere on the page. I also used the ancient tag maker with the tag shape for an embellishment.
Now off to do Monday chores!

Thanks for the layout love! margie , craftymom101 , doesitmatter Short story: The alpha die is "Lea's ornate" by PinkFresh. You can get it at PinkFresh, or at Scrapbook .com I also own another "outlined" alpha set from PinkFresh and love having the outline to add contrast if I want. This alpha: layout first life student by kirstendrew, on Flickr Long story: However, while I knew I "needed" this more swirly alpha, I could not afford the price of it, and I wanted both upper and lower cases. I found alternative sources. I can PM you a link to the affordable set if you like, but I'm not proud of it

I finished up a big stack of Sheetload cards to donate in the past few days. I worked through at least 5 different Sheetload sketches in the past fortnight, some I didn't get good photos of that fell into the gap between last and this month. Here's a peek at the ones I missed sharing at the end of last month: http://instagram.com/p/CNL7IVsJzjd These are this month's cards (there are 4 slides in the post): http://instagram.com/p/CNWJJFMJvRM (I posted them on flickr too but I forgot to edit for brightness first so the photos are really dull. But if you prefer flickr they're here: flickr.com/photos/joblackford/ )

kitbop I love the title fonts and colors of your cavalcade of wonderment, totally agree on the stupid boy/girl lines. Your two-pager is great too. I think the grammadee approach makes a lot of sense, and the pages coordinate beautifully. angel97701 love your snowflakey pages revisiting days gone by. All those wonderful snowflake punches/dies - I don't think you can have too many.

kitbop I own this alpha set too. Did you use both the outline and alpha on this layout? Or just the outline? Because it looks like the alpha is popped up from the outline, but if that's the case, I'm amazed at how you were able to line up the words on the pp perfectly. Either way, I love the look! Question: On the packaging of this alpha, it shows tiny floral vines used inside some of the alpha outlines. Did you get those as part of the set? I took my dies out of the original packaging to put them on magnetic sheets inside Avery Elle sleeves, and I don't have the floral vines. I can't imagine I would have discarded them with the original packaging.

Did you use both the outline and alpha on this layout? I cut the alphabet out of the background very carefully so that it lined up and was spaced properly. Then I layered it up with extra cardstock layers underneath and replaced it into the paper. Fiddly! I purchased this set from PinkFresh, and it didn't come with vines...I never noticed the packaging suggestion!

joblackford - the use of bloom street! So pretty. scrappyrabbit - love in the gallery I got another one done - there aren't very many ways you can design a layout with a 12" photo which is nice. But then I spent way too long fiddling with the title (tried to match up those stripes in my die cut letters) and then I had a splatter accident that needed a lot of fixing... layout pinery playground by kirstendrew, on Flickr

joblackford so pretty yet simple! I just got the bloom st collection on clearance at Joann so I may need to take some inspiration from your cards! thanks. It's a gorgeous collection. I've already bought two packs of some of it, and AC screwed up and left out a few die cuts so they had to send me a full replacement pack, but my ears still pricked up when you said clearance at Joann... If I wasn't exhausted from making so many cards in the past two weeks I'd be tempted to go buy more. Not that I haven't still got a small pile of leftovers to use up.

My friend gave me a bunch of old cards she was ready to declutter, she cut the message part out and gave me the fronts. This was a lovey dovey anniversary card with a shaped front. I separated the two pieces so I could make two cards out of it and added a colorful ombre background, cut off the "in love" part, trimmed down the card base to fit better, and now it's a birthday card for another friend. She has a couple of birds as pets so I think she'll like it. I'm planning to do something similar to the remaining piece. April share by jo.blackford, on Flickr
