Have your tried CVS? I thought their site was really easy to use. You are offered second dose dates that begin after 21 days so, you can pick after her prom if you want. It's so flexible that I was able to schedule our first shot in AZ and our second in NM (we travel full time). I went to CVS in person last night to ask. No CVS in our area is getting vaccines at this time. They don't know when or if they will get them. i guess it's different in every state. We live so close to CVS, that would have been so easy.
Rite Aid was very easy to figure out, so I am going with them. I was shocked that even I could figure it out! I have the intelligence of a 3 yr. old when it comes to doing anything online! And I love that Rite Aid lists which vaccine you will get, so you can pick the location based on which vaccine you want. Unfortunately the pharmacies in our area are not doing JJ, so we have to pick from the others. They filled up fast though! I scheduled my daughter for this Saturday, and when I went back to schedule mine it was full.
Three weeks from her first dose is the day of her prom. Hopefully this place lets us pick the day after for her 2nd dose. If not, at least it's the day of so probably no side effects that early. And prom isn't normal prom, so it's not as extravagent and fun this year. No fancy location, just the football field. And if it rains, it's cancelled.

In my state you make your second appointment when you get your first. They will allow some leeway. Just take a deep breath, the process is very smooth. They know what they are doing and they are doing it well.

She shouldn't take anything prior to the shot. It will mess up the vaccination. Here in IL they have pulled J & J. What they are doing and say they are able to do is giving those scheduled for J & J one of the other vaccinations. You don't know what it is until you get there. So, she may get one, just not J & J unless they have figured out the problem by then. Oh, J & J apparently doesn't spoil the way the other ones do as it is just refrigerated. It isn't taken out, thawed and used. How would taking something mess up the vaccination? Less effective, or worse side effects? Can you eat the day of? I thought they would have given us info with her confirmation but they didn't give any "instructions". Thanks for the info!
Eating is fine, just no medications. Talk to your doctor if you're concerned. They don't want anything to interfere with the vaccination. The first shot was really nothing. It's the second one that may kick someone's tail. From everything I've read if there is a reaction to the second one the reaction is lasting about 36 hours. People feeling achy, flu like symptoms, temperature, etc. Sleep helps a lot.

Or if it was ineffective if it wasn't exactly 3 weeks later. We will try, but if she has to go the same day as prom, she will just deal with it. No one we know has had any side effects with pfizer, so she should be good. But would love a different day if possible. If not, we will still show up for the vaccine.

I had a mild reaction to the first Pfizer dose- just felt generally unwell, kind of that "i feel like im coming down with something" feeling. It lasted a day. For my second dose, I hydrated like crazy. 16oz of water pretty much every hour before, after, and the next day. No reaction at all. Dh, who would tell you he hydrated, had chills and body aches after the second dose. I can tell you that he didnt drink any more than he usually does. Lol So, make sure you and your dd drink a LOT. I did water and then each day I drank a Body Armor (like gatorade except where gatorade is mainly sodium, body armor is potassium- amd it tastes better).

I had never heard that advice. I will have her do that. I will take her to Chick-fil-A after dance so she can get a big meal before her vaccine, and I will give her a lot of water to drink. The nurse thinks she passed out after getting a vaccine last summer because she wasn't "full" at the time. She had eaten a lot before her flu shot in Nov., and didn't pass out, but couldn't get off of the chair for almost an hour. Hopefully drinking a lot of water will help this time! We have a lot of gatorade in our garage, so she can drink that too!
I don't like water, so I may be in trouble! Hopefully iced tea and diet soda work too!

Our state is opening up eligibility to everyone as of last night so I am trying to schedule a vaccine for my 17 yr. old and myself. I am panicking about the vaccine as I have mentioned on several threads. But I am being "harrassed" about it and am just getting it over with. The stress is crazy, I don't know why I am so terrified.
Anyways, how do you schedule the second dose? I can't even figure out how many days between the pfizer vaccine but one site said 21 days. My daughter has prom and from what I could figure out, her second dose will be the day before or day of prom. Are you allowed to schedule it for a different day? I don't want to mess it up and have to pay a penalty for changing dates. Like a missed apt. fine?
Sorry if this sounds confusing, I am so stressed about scheduling, etc. Thanks for listening to my irrational fear! and my usual dumb questions. In our county, we signed up for first dose. At the administration of that dose (it’s a drive up situation) they have you sit in the car in the parking lot for 15 minutes or so, and have you click on a QR code to sign up fir your second dose at that time. They carried iPads to help anyone who needed help.
