No, I usually don't take it with me. I never take it if I am just out walking. I usually have no idea where my phone is in my house! Another reason I don't like the phone to leave the house, I would lose it.
If I am going to an event where I will want to take pictures or want my phone for entertainment, I take it. But I usually forget it and leave it at home. I am not very handy with my phone, so I don't use it for things most do.
My husband always has his phone with him. My kids do because they use their phones for everything.

I always have my phone on me - it came in handy when I broke my back and needed to call for help.

I’m always surprised when people don’t take their phone on a walk. For me that’s one of the most crucial times to have a phone for emergencies. On a lighter note, there might also be a cute bunny encounter that has to be documented. I am the opposite, I didn't know people took phones when they went on a walk (unless listening to music or audio book). And yes, a cute bunny is for sure a good picture!

No. I have two phones.
Work and personal.
My work phone goes on the charger when I get home.
My personal is usually in my purse or around somewhere. I don’t keep it on me all the time.

Yes, I take it with me from room to room and place to place. If I'm working in the yard I will have it out with me, sometimes within a few feet, sometimes on the stairs that go up to the back porch.

Mine is with me, or nearby, nearly all the time. I always take it when I leave the house - it's not only my phone, but my shopping list, my covid tracker, my diary and my step tracker (hoping for a fitbit or apple watch for my birthday). Even if I am just going downstairs to check the mail, or take the rubbish to the big bin, I take my phone - This is partly an overreaction to the one time I locked myself out of the apartment when DH was in another country. Inside, my phone is usually in the same room as me (not hard, 4 room apartment), unless I'm in the bathroom or in bed - I leave it in the living room overnight, even though it is also on DND.

No. It’s an issue for other people. I find it amusing when they attempt to push their phone obsession on me. Seriously, when I get home, the phone is either placed on my nightstand (weekdays) or a number of other places (weekend). It is not unusual for my phone to be ignored the entire weekend, unless Pokemon Go is involved. My phone lives on silent mode, too. While Mom was hospitalized, I made sure my phone would ring in the event DH needed me. It was a relief when he arrived home at night, because the various alerts created way too much noise. The only reason I have my phone on me when I walk is to rack up some meters for Pokémon Go. Never felt the need to answer a ringing phone when we had the landline either. I’m quoting this not to finger point but because it illustrates my story, with the exception of Pokemon, and saves me waffling on even more! After years of me and my siblings obsessing, my sister finally agreed to get a cell phone in her 70s. She travelled a lot and as she didn’t drive, friends/relatives would collect her from often quite remote unmanned stations. It was a relief to know she was safe and just delayed if the train was late and the person didn’t have to sit in the back of beyond if she’d called ahead to warn them. Likewise she was a walker in remote spots and we pleaded with her to take it incase she needed help at some point. She rarely used it as a phone but texted our SIL every day as our brother has leukaemia and SIL needed that contact. Apart from that daily text, her cell would be switched off and kept in its box in a drawer. Thrilled that she was now contactable when out, I obsessed that she at least keep it charged and close at hand in her flat so if she needed help she could reach one of us. She poo-pooed that idea every time I asked her. Nearly 4 years ago she collapsed on her bed and lay dead for 3 days before the police eventually broke in. (3days because she had gone on a walking holiday and wasn’t sure when she’d be back so we weren't worried until the 2nd day). Her damn phone was less than 6 feet away from her, turned off, in its box in the drawer. I am STILL frustrated that she might have been able to call for help had it at least been within reach. People, if you are alone/live alone please keep it with you, you never know when you might need help. For my part, I rarely use mine as a phone. It’s my camera, calculator, tape measure, watch, diary, wallet, route planner, shopping list, encyclopaedia, games, books and is with me 24/7 for work.

I don't have my phone on me if I'm in the house or yard, unless I'm expecting a call. I do have my phone with me when I go out because my driver's licence and bank cards are in my phone case. I also need my phone to check in at places (scan a QR code), or scan rewards cards, etc. I don't have a satnav, so I use my phone for directions.

I don't have it attached to me when I'm at home but it is always within reach so that I can hear it even in the garden. I always take it with me when I go out either in my pocket or my handbag, more for emergencies rather than to idle chat with anyone. Sometimes DD finishes college earlier than expected or finishes work at the week-end so she text me to let me know to pick her up earlier than expected. I had a flat tyre once and DH was able to get to me quickly as |I have no idea how to change a tyre on a car ( yes, I know I should learn how to do it but..) I wouldn't have been able to do that if I hadn't had my phone with me or call for the breakdown service. My test and trace app is also on there so I need it if I go anywhere that I need to scan in.

When I'm out it's always in my bag or pocket, in the house I'm not always sure where it is and rarely look at it.

Pretty much. I don't usually take it into the bathroom (pretty much never) but set it on a table on my way in and pick it back up on the way out. It is my way to check emails while I'm working in the cake studio. I'll hear it ding and check to see if it is urgent or if I can carry on with what I'm working on.
Back when I used to run outside, it was my music source as well.
I hate when I forget it at home!

No, I don't. Mine sits on the kitchen counter near the charging base when I'm home. I do try to remember to take it with me when I go out, but I have forgotten a couple of times. I hate being dependent on it. I mostly use it for texting, but I do realize that it's essential in case of an emergency.

It's my music in the car, and my encyclopedia and weather source in the house. Since I walk alone and we have bears, I keep it with me; I have fallen before and so the possibility of getting hurt is a reality. The idea of using it as a payment source, like at Starbucks is fiddly and annoying to me, so the only time I do that is Venmo with my hairdresser.

So before DH got sick and my Dad started to get sicker, I would have said "no way". However once DH got sick and my Dad got sicker, it was with my 24/7, it needed to be. I use a white noise app at night to sleep so it's always beside my bed however it goes on DND from 8pm-8am.

I voted NO. I am not a slave to my phone but always take it with me on walks to the beach or around the neighborhood. Not to use it, but in case of emergency. Doesn't matter where I go, I have my phone in one pocket and my i.d. in another pocket. My phone has a label with my husband's phone number on it and "if found, please call this number." We live in wildfire country so I usually have my phone nearby in case of alerts. I have horrible allergies half of the year and we keep our windows closed. I could easily be oblivious to a fire next door or heavy smoke in the area. I do check our local online news site a few times a day during the worst of fire season, which is pretty much year round now. Very grateful for this technology, although we have really lousy reception in our home. Just curious why you voted no when it sounds like you do have your phone with you when you leave the house and nearby when inside. You're right! When I selected NO I was thinking that I don't always answer it, don't feel like I need to check it every 5 minutes... but that isn't what you asked. I don't think I can change my vote... but it should def. be YES!

I'm so very sorry gillyp. I understand your frustration... but you couldn't control your sister's choices. Please be gentle with yourself. It sounds like you tried hard to have her take this safety precaution. ((( hugs )))

I answered yes, but it's not because I'm addicted to my phone. It's because there are people in my life who might need me. Maybe that's another type of dysfunction, but I just wanted to make that distinction for the people sneering at those of us who answered this.
I *DO* set it to Do Not Disturb when I sleep.
The recent 6 year period of my kid's mental illness did a number on me. I might need to look at releasing some of that obligation.

I have mine with me or very close by 24/7. Work has to be able to get a hold of me at any time of the day or night, so that is the main reason. The other reason is that my mom and siblings live halfway across the country from me. My mom is in her 70s and is partially disabled due to a stroke. She's also a cancer survivor. She lives with my sister, who currently is undergoing treatment for cancer. If there is a health emergency for either of them (or anyone else in my family) I want to be able to get a phone call at any time. WE haven't had a landline for several years so my cell phone is the only way to get in touch with me.
