I think I counted 13 customizations? I put it in my app, and it brought the $5.75 drink to $13.20, but I couldn't find the Honey Blend to add. Only the bananas, Frapp chips, and Heavy Cream cost extra. The bananas were the biggest driver at $6.25 - more than the price of the drink itself! I guess he is basically paying for 2+ drinks, but I bet the baristas aren't judged based on price. I have a friend who does this to her Newks salad, and I usually follow her order by starting mine with, "This is going to be really easy..." Unless he has a free drink. Some people will customize heavily on the free drinks. I think Starbucks, while menu driven, has also made itself out to be the "menu can be customized to suit you" place. I vote free drink. A couple of years ago, people were posting the crazy customizations they did for the free drinks, and they were absolutely ridiculous. They weren’t doing it to make a drink the way they wanted to drink it; they were customizing to have something to post on social media.

I dont ever go to Starbucks, but I can see that the drink order is all kinds of extra. As for tipping at fast food/coffee places, no. Tipping is for people who make the tipped wage, which is ridiculously low. Personally Id rather tipping went away in this country. It has gotten completely out of hand between the servers who do get tipped trying to tell people how much to tip and people thinking everyone needs a tip on top of their regular wages.

By the looks of it...all that wouldn't even fit in a cup! It’s probably a venti in a trenta cup.

Fake order. No tipping: They donate tips to charity in most stores. My kid works at Starbucks. Not a fake order, DS has a pain in the ass customer that does this every damn time he gets enough stars to get a free drink. And no, they get their tips. If they substitute at another store they will go back and get their tips or the manager will go get them.

I would assume that is a fake order.
Yes I tip if I have spare dollars in my wallet. I always do.

It's dicky because all that listed on that back was *Edwards* customizations to a drink. It's just a lot of bullshit for a barista to do for a drink. And honestly that looks like a fake order or someone was punking them on purpose. Because that is one high maintenance drink order. It’s a $6 drink they shouldn’t be ‘shaming’ people on the internet when they are willing to fork over $6 for a drink. It’s ‘dicky’ to shame customers on the internet for asking for what your company willingly provides ( at a high price ) unless the customer was rude or yelled at them or whatever the Starbucks employee is dicky for internet order shaming. If Starbucks was loosing money they’d limit their customizations. Unless the customer is mean ir rude, just do your job and be pleasant. Vent to your friend in person but it’s not really right to internet shame them. That’s low I stopped going because even their regular tea with milk went up in price AND they can’t seem to understand that Earl Grey is NOT a plain black tea, it’s flavored ( if you call bergamot a flavor but it’s like soap IMO ) My neice keeps recommending their ‘refreshers’ to me but they are $5 for not a large drink so I haven’t bothered yet - for $5 I can get an Ali Edwards prep day class with digitalis so yeah I’ll pass on a small drink.

Fake order. No tipping: They donate tips to charity in most stores. This is not true at all. The baristas get the tips. A few of my daughter’s friends worked there and all tips were donated. They weren’t paid poorly tho.

If they worked at an in-store Starbucks, they may be been donated - those are generally store employees, not Starbucks employees, and some grocery stores are unionized and can’t accept tips. But at actual Starbucks locations, the tips absolutely go to the baristas.

my son worked at several starbucks and he depended on tips... a lot. he worked at one in chinatown with lots of european customers who didn't tip and he moved as soon as possible to a neighborhood starbucks were the tips worked out to about $4 an hour.
I would always tip at a coffee shop. always. just like a restaurant it is not mcdonalds--starbucks they are making a drink just for you.

I always tip, because they work hard for not enough money.
There is a SB secret menu, but it doesn't have a laundry list of ingredients.

By the looks of it...all that wouldn't even fit in a cup! I really hope "5 banana" doesn't mean 5 actually bananas? I'm pretty sure Edward would have no clue whether is order is correct or not. Hate to say it, but as another whose DD is a barista, he would most likely be the one to say that the drink is a half-pump of syrup short of what he ordered; he can tell the difference, and therefore the barista who made his drink owes him a replacement at no cost.

My youngest DS is a barista. He was horrified at that order. We really don't do starbucks' style drinks in Australia - no fancy syrups and flavourings. We just do good coffee with/without milk.

I seldom go to Starbucks, but when I do it is a real treat for me. My only customization is for them to add less 'pumps' - as what they normally put in is way to sweet for my tastes. But I love my drink when I get it.
I don't tip there.
I have a very small town local coffee shop that is only open a couple days a week. I tip big there. For example, if my drink is $4.95 - I give her a $10. She makes homemade meals on Sunday and takes them to older folks and shut ins. She uses this money to make those meals. She takes a lot of really good meals to these people.

Fake order. No tipping: They donate tips to charity in most stores. Definitely not the one my daughter's friend works at - it usually bumps them up about $3-5 an hour. My daughter definitely gets tips! Chick has more cash on her than I do!

I read an article last night where baristas were complaining about absurdly customized drinks. Aside from Edward's order in the first post, there were pictures of cups with even more add-ons. I think it topped out at 31 or 33 requests. I saw one order that had both 2% milk and heavy cream. Some of the baristas who shared indicated that some of this was a spin off of something from TikTok and that they cause a backup in the stores and especially the drive thru which throws off their timing metrics and creates longer waits for other customers.

Second of all Edward may not be a dick, but he must be a freaking high maintenance nightmare to deal with. I can't imagine his McDonald order. Big Mac, 3 pickles, ketchup on the top patty, special sauce on the bottom. Mustard on both. Onions only on bottom. Add 4 tomato slices. Plain bun. Top bun in the middle. Only bottom bun toasted. Pepper only. No salt. Wrapped in paper instead of a box. THANK YOU! This analogy makes sooooooo much sense to me! Now I get why he is a dick! Funny thing is 30+ years ago when I worked for McDonalds we would not and could not do this kind of custom order, for the simple fact the Big Mac was set type of burger on the menu, therefore could not be changed. If you wanted any thing that was NOT part of the Big mac, we would give it to you on the side, it could not be added to the burger. (but you could subtract items) And I think that training then, conditioned my mind to not understand the customization of every darn thing on every menu in todays world. (PS I LOVE THIS ANALOGY SO MUCH THOUGH!)

Well I'm obviously not a Charbucks drinker because I had no idea they did free drinks and people could order whatever without a dollar limit! That makes much more sense to me because I just couldn't see people ponying up for a non-alcoholic drink that cost that much, so I thought it was fake.
Doing a drink order like that for your free drink makes you even more of a dick since you aren't even paying for it. Stupid Instagrammers just trying to outdo each other for the clicks and likes. Dumb and so mean to the overworked employees!

No, I don't tip at Starbucks. They get paid, they aren't serving me at my table so no.

I don’t think Edward is a dick. Starbucks’ schtick is allowing customization of their drinks. Don’t like all the work that goes into the drink, you should probably move to a retailer that doesn’t allow substitutions.

I came across a TikToker who among all her fashion tips does Starbucks drinks. At first I was fascinated that you could get this complicated pink drink that was a skinny version with only 35 calories. So I wrote the recipe down (Venti Passion Tango iced tea Unsweetened with Strawberry Infusion, light coconut milk and 2 Stevias). I can't bring myself to order it, I'd feel like a total douche and I hadn't even read this thread yet. Now I really won't order it. The most adventuresome I get is two double espresso shots in a Venti cup with ice, and then in the car I dump a carton of Premier Protein in caramel or coffee flavor. Tastes just as good as an iced mocha with better stuff in it and hardly any WW points. Plus its $3
