I just receive a text that said “hey”. I can see the message in my preview screen. Then, the same number sent me a FaceTime request. I declined it. SO said I should have just let it keep ringing, which is true in hindsight. Then the person sent another message that said “Don’t decline me” and then he sent an attachment. I am so curious what the attachment is. SO said don’t look. Would you look?
AND, as I am typing this, another FaceTime request!
UGH! Sometimes I hate technology!!

Nope, no way would I open an attachment/link from someone I don't know or who hasn't identified themselves.

I would think it is someone that has the wrong number. I get not opening an attachment but I don’t see how declining something could cause a problem. I would probably reply back saying I think you have the wrong number because I don’t see how a reply would cause any harm.

So, is an attachment in a text the same as an attachment in an email? You can usually see the attachment without clicking on it in a text message. Would just opening the text, and not clicking on the attachment, send a virus to your phone?
And, yes, I did delete the text.

No I wouldn't look & I would definitely block the number too.
Anything that a man who says "don't decline me" sends isn't going to be good.

The op is a little confusing because she used both this person but then also used he. OP, do you knew the gender of the sender?

You should never open any link/attachment from anyone who you don't know. Period. If it's a real-to-you person then they'll identify themselves or leave a message.

Text back "new phone, who dis?" i would respond "you're not my boss, applesauce" and block the number. Don't open any links. Ignore and do NOT reply. If your curiosity is beyond that (I know - I understand! LOL) .. get a texting app that gives you a different number and text them from that- but don't open any links on that either. But if you must ask who they are - do it with that. Most of the time they do not respond.

I have my phone set not to alert me for unknown numbers, so I wouldn’t have even seen the FaceTime requests.
I’d see the texts eventually and just block, delete without opening, and not give it a second thought.
