If you have a kindle oasis, do you recommend it? If you went from paperwhite to oasis, is it worth the money?
I have a kindle paperwhite that I got in March last year. It's okay, I like that I can get $.99 books from Amazon, and I can take it on vacation without taking too many books. I do prefer paper books, but I can't read them during the day when I have my contacts on. So I read kindle during the day so I can enlarge print.
I have so many problems turning the page on the paperwhite. It skips ahead many times and it takes me a couple minutes to get to the right page. So I am considering getting the oasis.

I love my Oasis. I had a first generation Kindle, and replaced it with an Oasis when they first came out. I like the page-turning button feature, some people don’t however.

I have had both the Paperwhite and the Oasis. I liked them both. I prefer the Oasis. To me the Oasis is worth the extra cost, but I read every day.

I just recently went from a Paperwhite to an Oasis and I LOVE IT! Seriously, it's totally worth the price. I had the exact same problem with my Paperwhite skipping pages....I mean, it's not the Paperwhite's problem it's mine! Somehow I would tap more than once and it would jump ahead. And when I wanted to go back a page to check something I missed I was likely to go back a lot of pages. The buttons on the Oasis are game changing! In addition to being able to turn pages ahead and back so easily, you can also flip it and use your other hand. Just turn it upside down and it reorients itself immediately... I didn't realize how nice this would be until it suddenly occurred to me that I can now eat with my right hand and easily hold the Oasis with my left. I love it.

I went from Paperwhite to Oasis and I cannot recommend it enough. Love being able to read one-handed and pushing the page-turning buttons with my thumb. It is so worth the extra cost. I also love the temperature-warming feature for nighttime reading.

I guess it's me too, I think I have larger than normal thumbs or something. I can't text either, I can just use the speaker on my phone to text! The other thing I don't like as much as with paper books is flipping back. If I forget who a character is, if I am reading a paper book I can flip back to find the information. I can't do it on my kindle. I appreciate your review!

That's why I would never want to read a more dense non-fiction book in ebook form. But for going back a page or two the Oasis is a game changer. Just click that button and boom there you are. Also, there is the "go to" feature on both the Paperwhite and the Oasis but that's only useful for me if for some reason I know I want to go back or ahead to a specific chapter. -- But with the Oasis' buttons at least you could keep clicking the button and you'd reliably be going back one page at a time so you could skim over to find the info you wanted. I could never do that on the Paperwhite because it would just go to some random page, then when I'd try to get back to where I started it wouldn't do that either. ugh.

After seeing monklady123 's review, I seriously contemplated the Oasis. (I bought the TV she recommended instead, LMAO). I am not getting it at this time. So, I have a page protector on my kindle, and I wonder if that's why mine doesnt react like what you are describing. I wonder if by putting on that protector, it took away some of the sensitivity.

More questions.
Does anyone recommend getting the protection plan? I think it's on sale for $30.
Do you need a cover for the oasis? I got one for the paperwhite for extra protection.

I love the Oasis. It feels great in your hand, it's easy to use one-handed in either hand, and I really like the page turning buttons. I had a Paperwhite quite a while ago and never really loved it. It's been years, but my recollection is it felt like there was a lag in turning pages. I went from rarely using my Paperwhite to using my Oasis every day. I still use it every day, and it's a first-gen Oasis. It's great. My only problem with it is it will run out of battery pretty quickly if I leave airplane mode off. Probably my fault - I have A TON of books on there and I use the library a lot, so there are lots of updates going on when connected to wifi.

I don't do either. Most of my use is in bed each night, but I do take it when I travel. I still don't feel the need for a cover - I just slide it into its own pocket in my bag. I've had it for years and it looks like new and I definitely do not baby it.

Is there any way to transfer the books to the new oasis? Thanks for your review!

Is there any way to transfer the books to the new oasis? Thanks for your review! As long as you order your Oasis under the same amazon registration everything in your Paperwhite will be able to transfer to your Oasis. Your Amazon account should have everything you ordered under "digital orders". You shouldn't lose anything. Also in answer to the question about a case--I have a case on my Oasis and it has become pretty beat up over the years. I do travel with it. I am glad I have the protection of a case.

I have a cover, I have never had the protection plan for my Kindles - including the Oasis - but I don’t take it outside the house too often, and when I do, it fits in my purse, so I’m not likely to drop it.

I really like my Oasis. I like how it feels in my hand, the one-handed operation, and being able to use buttons. I like the shape of it.
My only complaint is battery life. I believe mine is a first generation. Airplane mode helps quite a bit but I do not get the battery life that I did with my Paperwhite. With that said— I still prefer the Oasis.

I've never gotten a protection plan. I like having a cover for that added layer of protection. I did not get the "official" one that's expensive, I got just an ordinary one in a fun pattern. Also, you won't lose your books. I didn't even have to register my Oasis to my account, Amazon did it automatically. I opened the Oasis and all my books were there.

You all are a bunch of enablers!! I love my Kindle (currently a Paperwhite) but I just ordered the Oasis. I never thought I was the "I need the newest technology" kind of person, but maybe I am. Or maybe it's just FOMO. Looking forward to beach reading without a plastic baggie to protect it and one-handed page turning. And this... When I ordered it there was a box that was already checked that said "Link to my Amazon account to simplify setup."

That's one of the things that the Peas do best! hahaha I can't tell you the number of things I've bought because of the Peas.

I was on the fence too. I had a paper white, but really interested in the oasis. Two years ago during prime day I snagged one that had been returned for a song. I really like it. I have some arthritis in my hands and it’s shape and lightness makes it easier for me to hold when I read. I also love the battery in the cover. When I get into a book I can read for hours so having that extra poser is great.

I found the oasis to be so much better with my arthritis and tendinitis in thumb. Regular books were too thick to hold and i struggled keeping the paper white steady in one hand. The oasis was the perfect fit and I also love having my other hand free to snack.

Thank you, enablers! I managed to talk myself out of this last night. Then I saw this thread. I have an Oasis to arrive in July. I think I will really like it.

I went with the paperwhite to see if I will use it. I am thinking pool and beach. If I manage to find time to read maybe Christmas will be the oasis although unlikely. I rarely have time to read during the school year.

This is a timely thread. My boss just told me that she bought an Oasis in the Prime Day sales. When she told me how much it cost, I was shocked at how much more expensive it was compared to my Paperwhite. Personally I don't think it's worth the extra money, but by the looks of this thread I am in the minority.
