I miss the variety of scrapbook companies and the quality... everything heading to American Crafts is worrying.
And then I miss the outlets that would send me to me as an international reliably.
Hell, I even miss the days when Studio Calico was decent, with a good full kit and add ons if you wanted them. As an international with not that many opportunities get product easily, SC provided an excellent pipeline!
Thank goodness for Scrapbook.com!

I miss my not so local SB store. She had quarterly all day crops with amazingly comfortable chairs, excellent food and she would make these incredible oatmeal caramel cookies for dessert after dinner. Summer who was often in CK magazine worked there and and had her pages on display along with the owner’s who was also an excellent scrap booker . It was a beautiful store and she had an excellent selection. I really miss shopping there. I miss the conventions too, taking classes etc. but by far the thing I miss most is the all day crops and shopping. Tallahassee?

I miss scrapbooking with friends. We had a group that met at Archiver's one Wednesday per month. I miss Friday night crops.

I miss Archivers for their selection, their exclusives, and their crops. I'm thankful to still have an awesome LSS (where my favorite Archivers employee now works!) But the two were an awesome combination because I could get a collection kit at Archivers and then a lot of the extras at my LSS.
I miss Scrapfest at the Mall of America. It was close enough to make it a family weekend where DH & the boys did things around the mall or chilled in the hotel across the street while I did some classes & the make'n takes. Then we'd meet up for dinner. Best of all was it was a great excuse for stopping at IKEA on the way out of town!
I miss the magazines. I miss the variety of crops offered all over the metro area. I miss when companies did what they were known for and good at instead of trying to offer everything from paper to dies to albums, etc. I miss simpler kits and simpler PP that had subtle themes...not something to big that you don't know how to use it because you are afraid to cover it up.
I miss the boards at SC. I miss the 12x12 paper from SC...most of the time. I miss the active board of SB.com (it seemed to die down before I found SC around 2015, I know its still there, but I never look at it). I miss the crazy fun of Nat'l Scrapbook day at sb.com when you had one hour to make & upload the hourly project, but also the big week-long challenge with a great prize...that was fun to receive...even if you didn't end up using half of it!
But mostly, I miss all of the extra time I used to have to scrap before I got a real job.

I miss the Friday Night Crops, the All Day Saturday crops, and the extra long weekend retreats. I made all of my adult friends via scrapbooking. I also miss the days when Thickers cost $3.99

I miss getting my CK magazine in the mail and waiting for my kids’ nap time to enjoy it. I also miss having several LSS nearby. I used to love looking through the gallery at two peas and the board there.

I miss the brick & mortar's the most. We had so many and you could make a day of going from store to store. It was so much fun and you got to see everything (as what one store had, others didn't).

I miss the LSS. That is the primary thing. Second I miss getting supplies easily like WRMK albums and hermafix. I also miss magazines.
I do not miss the hype over getting published, HOF type stuff and idolatry of so called scrapbook personalities

I miss the variety before AC has made everything pink and floral. I miss the smaller, unique brands. I miss the general patterns/collections instead of weird random stuff or overly themed. I too miss Archivers and having LSSs everywhere. I miss teaching at the LSS, the crops, and the make-n-takes. I’m fortunate to still have crops to attend throughout the year (during non-pandemic times) and look forward to it being safe to have again.

Magazines! I was just telling DH this morning that I am so much more likely to be inspired to order from a paper catalog than from a website - even though I ultimately PLACE the order online, I prefer to SHOP from a magazine/catalog. There were some great LSS by my mom's house, but I didn't have them so much near me. I didn't even mind the celebrity worship and attendant scandals. LOL. They didn't really affect me in any way (I was never involved or invested), so it was just popcorn-munching entertainment for me.

I miss the crops at my neighbors. I know I can go out somewhere, but I loved the ease of popping things in my kids' wagon and going to my friend's house. If I forgot something or had to nurse the baby, I could run home.
I miss that camaraderie and getting things done!

I miss the wealth of products and large expos. I attended a few CHAs during the heyday and it was just convention halls full of the biggest and best scrapbook companies.

I miss Archiver's where they all knew my name (like the show Cheers). So much to choose from!
I miss times like when 5 of us scrappers loaded up in a friends van and we hit all the stores all the way to Fort Collins and back. It was an all day adventure and we came back so happy and excited about our new purchases.
I loved getting my happy mail of different publications and anticipating the CK Hall of Fame.
Oh and the thrill of my one and only CKU attendance!

American Crafts is Taco Bell!

I miss the magazines most of all. Every month I would buy anywhere from 4 to 6 of them depending on what my newsagent could get in. I would catch a bus to and from work back in those days and I would fill my entire trips by pouring over them cover to cover. To be fair I also miss the print books. I have been slowly buying books 2nd hand when I am thrifting that are non technique and that I can get inspiration from, I recently got a couple of Ali's books and have been saving them for vacation reading.
Blogs. I had a massive list of blogs that I would visit and I loved feeling like I was getting to know the people that I followed a little more as you would get lengthier and more varied posts than what you do on Instagram.
Online galleries. I have Instagram but it just does not feel the same, the speed that the two peas gallery would move daily was amazing.

Feeling a bit wistful after reading all the posts! I miss a lot it seems. -I miss all variety of scrapbook magazines -I miss having monthly local crops. We had a group of 20 friends that would get together one Saturday a month and scrapbook all day. We'd bring something for potluck and it would be so great! Now I'm the only one who still scrapbooks and it's lonely. - I miss the old galleries at SC and 2peas and Lifetime Moments, so much inspiration there! - I miss Lifetime Moments, first message board I ever joined. I was never a huge poster and wasn't "one of the girls" but I always wondered what happened to all the members - I miss the excitement of CHA and all the new products being launched. Now everything feels samey

The biggest thing I miss is real life friends and acquaintances to scrapbook with. Back in the heyday, it seemed like everybody did it. Even on the rare occasion when no one was available to scrapbook, I could pop into my LSS and crop there with ladies I didn't know but became fast friends. I do not miss the hype over getting published, HOF type stuff and idolatry of so called scrapbook personalities I do not miss this part either. The pub board always seemed like ego stroking.

- Scrapping with my group of friends.. around 10 of them. - Going to the LSS and just get that rush of going in the store in hopes of new product. - Staying up until 3am, watching movies and scrapping in my family room. Shoot I can keep my eyes open that long anymore. - Go on vacation and checking out new scrapbook stores. - 12 hour crops - Conventions

Oh and this.. I was watching New in Town and it was hilarious to see them scrapbooking and calling themselves scrappers. Middle of winter and all the ladies gathered together on a small kitchen table. Ugggg... I miss that so much.
I used to clear out my family room, put up a couple of tables, friends would come over and we would spend a day or two all day and well into the evening just scrapping. The food all laid out in the kitchen with snacks of course.

I miss all the forums like Making Memories (and the magazine), Fiskateer's, Scrapbook Answers (and magazine with cd), Rubber stamp madness, and several others I can't remember ... one was in Canada, cre8? I really miss not having 15 LSS's within 15 miles of my home. I miss going to the expo's and/or conventions. I miss all the really informative magazines, the ones that had show & tell.

Pretty much all mine have been covered but thought I'd still share. I miss my local scrapbooking stores (even Recollections when it was a free-standing store)! In the Dallas area there were 3-4 I went to all the time. Even went to some of the Friday night crops until midnight ALONE because I just wanted to be around that scrappy energy & creativeness. Now the stores in the Dallas area are really way outside of Dallas and at least a 45 min-1 hour drive for me I miss the magazines - all of them!! CK, Making Memories, Simple Scrapbooks....just devouring them and marking pages with techniques I wanted to try or beautiful layouts & cards I was inspired by. All of the special editions and books they came out with as well. I still have some of the special editions. I still go to GASC and Scrapbook Expo (well not in 2020) but they can't compare to what they were 10-15 years ago. I took a class from Lisa Bearnson at GASC one year & Heidi Swapp at Scrapbook Expo another year. I remember when there were so many vendors that packed the conventions and the classes were awesome! I miss shopping and coming home with so may new things and being inspired from my classes and the make & takes at conventions. I was able to attend the CKU when it came to Fort Worth in 2013 and I thought it was amazing! All the classes and swag we got...wow! I think that was the last year they had the Creating Keepsakes University. I really only started going to retreats about 4-5 years ago & I still go to a 5-day retreat twice a year. One of the ladies in my group owns the retreat and she is booked for the whole year so there is still a demand for retreats. Hers is fabulous! Like many of you I also miss some of the old companies like Basic Grey & October Afternoon. I'm hoarding the collections I have! Luckily I found this board so I still feel like I'm "in the know" on scrapbook trends but I really miss seeing things in person.

I really miss my scrappy friends since we moved in 2012. We used to book a cabin in a state park two weekends a year and scapula to our hearts content all weekend long.
We had the food planned ahead for minimal prep time at the cabin. We did not take any alcohol after our first weekend trip because alcohol and scrapping don’t really mix when you are on a mission to complete as many pages as possible.
We planned out who was taking what tools—a couple of us would bring Cricut, someone else would bring the Sizzix, Everyone was responsible for their own cartridges, mats, and dies. We each brought a table and used the cabin table for shared supplies. We had the BEST time at our little retreats.❤️
I don’t know anyone around me who really scraps now.🥲

Repeating what others have said but I had multiple local scrapbook stores and they are all gone. Also miss the QVC craft days especially when Lisa Bearnson was on with David Venable (the slap )
