What is something, or even things, you miss the most about the heyday of scrapbooking?
For me, it is QuicKutz Club and the monthy classes at my LSS CrackerJacks and then renamed Collective Journey.
The 2 head guys of QK would come 2 to 3 times a year (winter and summer releases and then sometimes again for fun). We would get a sneak peek at what was coming out and they gave out awesome prizes! I won quite a few QK dies (2x2 and 4x4) as well as paper, pens, etc.
We would do a make and take and could share work we created as well.
There was just something about those dies and the women and few men who were regulars and the fun we all had together.
We also got discounts on QK items for being in the club.
I also miss the hunt of the exclusive QK dies! There are still a few I would like to get but not at $100.

I miss my local scrapbook store! Scrap Shack was just down the road. I got to touch product and match things across collections and manufacturers. I miss their friendly chatter. They knew I was pregnant before my husband! On my way home from my OBGYN appointment, I stopped there and they helped me put together a small 6x6 scrapbook with my ultrasound pictures. I miss that kind of stuff so much.

I have to agree with lilacgal , it’s the local scrapbook stores. I would love to go in and browse and get to know the employees. And the crops they would have. I haven’t attended a crop since my local stores closed.

I miss CKU because they really got me hyped for creating. I also miss all the scrapbooking magazines that were available.

I agree with lilacgal and stormsts and say I also miss my LSS. I'm a very visual person and love being able to see everything before I buy it. I've been forced to shop online because we have only one store about 2 hours away. I would probably spend way more money if we had a LSS cause I take forever to decide what I want . And I forget to check to see what's new at the online store I like to shop. Popping into a store weekly and seeing what they have would be so much more easier!

But even more than that I miss kit clubs. Little Red Scrapbook and Gossamer Blue were my favorites.

But even more than that I miss kit clubs. I loved Gossamer Blue too! She was semi-local to me and I always got my kits so fast.

I miss in-person shopping options - when we would take a road trip back in the heyday of scrapbooking, DH would always stop at an LSS if there was one along the way, an Archivers, an AC Moore, a big Joanns...
Our last big road trip - there were NO scrapbook stops. We do have a HL here now but our Michaels closed earlier this year and the TWO scrapbook stores here are both long gone.
I also miss QK - the excitement of the releases, the limited edition dies....the ease of 2x2 dies in the handtool (I have an Epic Six for bigger dies but I always reach for the handtool first)
And the variety....before AC swallowed up so many companies...

I miss all the variety of scrapbook stores and their weekly crops and classes. I still have an LSS, but their classroom is so tiny, it's no fun to try and take a class there.

I miss living close to the LSS and meeting there to scrapbook with my friends. We all live in different states now, and that LSS is long gone. I taught there, worked there, and the owners were good friends.
There are 3 or 4 LSS in the DFW area, assuming they are all still around after COVID, but they are all too far away. I’m not willing to battle the traffic.

I miss scrapping with my neighbors. We'd take turns hosting crops in our dining rooms. We'd have our wine and glue everything on crooked, and the husbands would put the kids to bed.
We've moved several times since those days. I don't think I'll ever find scrapbooking neighbors again. I mean, how rare has that got to be now?

Definitely having multiple scrapbook stores in the area. I really enjoyed seeing and feeling all the products and walking around the store putting products together that would work for me. Online shopping is just not the same.

The magazines. I'm fortunate enough to have a scrapbook store still in my area, but that would definitely be my #1 answer if it were to disappear! It's packed full and I love being able to find pieces of past collections I might have missed.

Gossamer Blue, also. I was just pulling some of my old pocket page kits and thinking how much I liked them.
That we could shop Target and Walmart and have a pretty good selection...not just part of an aisle.

At one point Central Ohio had 8 scrapbook stores, including an Archiver. I loved going to scrapbook stores and crops.
I also miss magazines- it was always so fun to flip through the pages- I even liked the ads.
I miss really fast scrapbook message boards like the old 2peas.
I miss old scrapbook companies: Basic Grey, October Afternoon, Sassafras Lass, and many more.
I miss the time when everyone was scrapbooking. My annual scrapbook retreat could easily get 16-18 people. Now it is so hard to get 10.
I miss all of the choices of scrapbook kit clubs.

I miss scrapping with my friends. Hopefully that will change soon.
I still have an awesome LSS and a second hand craft store that has some good stuff now and then.
I just got 4 orders of scrapping stuff I ordered earlier this week. I do appreciate how fast everything got here, but I'd much prefer to shop in store.

Archivers was my ToysRUs. I really miss it!
I also miss 2peas galleries. And SC galleries for that matter.

I miss my not so local SB store. She had quarterly all day crops with amazingly comfortable chairs, excellent food and she would make these incredible oatmeal caramel cookies for dessert after dinner. Summer who was often in CK magazine worked there and and had her pages on display along with the owner’s who was also an excellent scrap booker . It was a beautiful store and she had an excellent selection. I really miss shopping there.
I miss the conventions too, taking classes etc. but by far the thing I miss most is the all day crops and shopping.

I wasn't really scrapbooking regularly until 2013 so I'm sad I missed out on the hey day, but I do remember having multiple stores as options and even a couple of stamp stores back when I dabbled. All of that is pretty much gone now. I miss Paperclipping Roundtable and Digiscrap podcasts along with all the magazines. I was in a bookstore the other day and the crafting magazines were sparse. I left empty handed.

She has a smaller room in the back that easily holds 10 larger tables. I can't wait until she starts those up again. Her store has a ton in it too.

I miss the energy.
Being able to go to several LSS. Seeing paper & embellishments up close before buying.
The Quickutz releases. Although I wasn't one who bought alphas as they were released, I loved seeing what they were.
I loved the anticipation of something new. The possibility of something new and innovative. Now it's just like, "Wonder what recycled design AC will bring out again.. " Ho hum.
I liked knowing other scrappers, and having a built-in commonality with them.
This will sound weird, but I liked scrapping before Marie Kondo and minimalism were in fashion. Now it feels like people would be more inclined to ask why I have such a hoard of photos.

I didn't start really scrapping until 2009 or 2010, but I used to visit the LSS for supplies for other artsy things. By the time I started scrapping they were gone I miss magazines (in general not just scrapbooking) and not being the only person I know who scrapbooks... OK my aunt scrapbooks but she cuts her photos into shapes and is still scrapping the 1990s (she goes to some crop once a year) so I can't talk to her about pattern paper or hoarding supplies because she doesn't do that... There are also quite a few brands I wish I had hoarded before they disappeared.

not being the only person I know who scrapbooks. I feel that so much. My friends love seeing my books, love seeing themselves in them, but I have yet to get any of them to print their photos from their phones. It depresses me sometimes. I've made a few baby books for friend but I have no idea if any of them have ever used them.

I miss archivers! My in laws got me a gc for Christmas every year. Hobby spending was tight for us when our kids were young so those gc were put to good use! Now, I have more $$ to spend on a hobby, but fewer places to spend it!

If I had to pick one thing, it would be LSS's. There were two in my town, one was HUGE and had so much stuff-paper, tools, embellishments, and stickers on the roll.
The other store was smaller but still had a great selection-and they had monthly crops and weekly make and take classes. I learned so many techniques in those classes. The crops were so fun too, everyone sitting at their little "desk", everyone gabbing, and dinner was provided. One time they did a chocolate themed crop, it was EPIC. They had a chocolate fountain, chocolate coffee, chocolate wine, and every chocolate cookie, snack, etc you could think of...I have never in my life eaten so much sugar. My BFF joined me for it, and we had so much fun!
The other thing I miss is having scrappy friends at work. I used to work with two ladies who scrapped, and it was so fun to talk about products, projects, sales and shopping! I talked one of them into hosting a CM party when I wanted to get into scrapping, I still have just about every tool I purchased then (2006). The only thing I got rid of were a few shapes in the shape cutting set-a heart, a diamond, and some wavy frame.
I also miss Glitter Girl videos. I go back and rewatch her old ones!
I also miss the variety of companies that used to exist. Seven gypsies, Daisy D's, Reminisce, Making Memories-and lots more I'm sure. Oh-there was a company that even made scrapbooking lotion (oil free), I STILL have some and use it when I scrap. Not sure how it hasn't gone rancid yet, but it hasn't, so I keep using it.
Apparently I miss a lot. But as much as I miss those things, I am still so thankful to have the supplies I do, paper magazines still (yay!!), this site where we can geek out together, and scrappy videos to learn and be inspired.
