This article (shows a 7/17 publishing date) ranks 50 California Counties by percentage of population vaccinated and it’s pretty clear there’s a geographical divide. stacker.com/stories/11831/counties-highest-covid-19-vaccination-rate-californiaI read that France had their biggest jump in people getting appointment when the bars started requiring vaccination for entrance. Honestly if the only way to push more people into getting the vaccine is to take away their access to where they want to go, I’m all for it. We can’t keep regressing.

I read an article not long ago that said CA was 50%. Quick google search just now says 51.4% of CA is fully vaccinated. Which is odd since CA doesn't exactly fit the narrative of who isn't getting the vaccine. So who in the heck isn't getting vaccinated in CA? Is that 50% of the population? Or 50% of t hose eligible for the vaccine at this time? The hispanic community is also hesitant about vaccination. My cooks all refuse to get one .There is a huge hispanic population out here. As well as the previously mentioned entitled a-holes in Orange County. They have too much money to be inconvenienced by a pandemic. Plus you have to consider our population is huge - LA County has 10 million people in it alone. And while Newsom swears that he won't revert us back you have to remember that at the end of the day he never ended the state of emergency and he could realistically do it whenever he wanted. My opinion (and I may be wrong) is that they are easing us back into restrictions with baby steps. They're hoping we roll our eyes at mask wearing and just do it, and then they'll introduce the 50% capacity restrictions indoors ... rather then just reverting us back to "purple tier" and having everyone freak the hell out.

I live in Las Vegas. I was out of state for the past week. I came back yesterday to the heat and a surge in cases. Nevada had been down in the 3% range, opened up completely (which is vital to our economy), and now we are up in the11% range of positivity.
On my trip, my flights were all fine and everyone was masked. At the airport the vast majority of travelers were masked, but there were some who didn’t even have masks on that they could slide up if asked. I was playing “mask police” in my head, but there is no way I would approach anyone.
One more airport story, I was speaking to the woman behind me while we waited to check in our luggage. We were having a pleasant conversation. Then her husband scooted up and emblazoned across his chest on his t-shirt was “TRUMP WON”. Oh my. I did not engage, roll my eyes, or laugh out loud, but I was tempted!
I was out last night getting a few groceries. I was unaware of our officials encouraging everyone to mask up again, but more people are definitely wearing them.
I return to school on August 4th and students return on August 9th. Hopefully our numbers begin to drop and we don’t have a chaotic start to the new year.
My DD (17 years) got her second vaccination yesterday! She had a bit of a delay getting it due to receiving her second meningitis B shot in May (there’s another thread about this vaccine).
Didn’t mean to ramble on! I wish our neighbors to the west (California) well with their mask mandate. We might be right behind you with the mandate. I, for one, would be totally fine with a mandate.

Everything I read says San Diego is over 50%. And I am surprised Orange County is #10.

Hmm...I don't think it is accurate. Is this 18+ or 12+ for age? My county dashboard has us higher. About 3.1% higher. And it is for 12+ age.

Not sure-my county is comparable on this website data.democratandchronicle.com/covid-19-vaccine-tracker/california/alameda-county/06001/But San Diego is way off. I'm thinking that it's for the 16+ age group as all vaccination numbers would have initially dropped when when the 12-15 were added and I never saw any charts that showed a dip. But you can also compare all the counties on this site and it still show the trend of northern (border) and central are significantly under vaccinated. ETA: And while those county populations are low, there were a great number of those that came to my county's hospitals in Dec/Jan which affected our numbers and the policies at that time.
