My BFF has requested a shrimp/crab boil for her birthday. I'm in charge of appetizers.
What would you make/serve for a shrimp boil?
We plan on having shrimp, crab, potatoes, corn, sausage in the boil. We use Old Bay and also lemons. Cocktail sauce on the side. Also french bread/garlic bread.

Beer? I've never had appetizers at a shrimp/crab boil. Maybe, a vegetable platter for those that don't eat shrimp/crab?

Something light with fruits or veggies would complement that meal.

Little open face cucumber sandwiches... a slice of cocktail rye bread (it's about 2" square), some mayo, a slice of cucumber, and your favorite seasoning (I like Jane's Crazy Mixed Up Salt).

Just add some fresh boiled vegetables - green beans, grilled corn on the cob, potatoes.

I love cuke sandwiches too but mix an envelope of Good Seasonings Italian dressing (dry) into a softened block of cream cheese. Spread on cocktail rye, top with slice of cucumber. Yum! To add to the appetizer list I would add something protein of the non-crab/shrimp variety. For those with seafood allergies. Says the one who developed allergy to crustaceans in adulthood. I'm mostly okay with it but every once in a while I get a real taste for crab/shrimp/lobster and it makes me pout. LOL I usually then get some scallops, mussels, calamari etc to ease my craving as allergy didn't develop to those. Have fun!

This one would be PERFECT, because it has both prawn (shrimp) and crab meat in it. It is my #1 most favourite of all appetisers in the history of forever. Every time I have made it, people have gone nuts over it. Asian Crab & Prawn Wonton Crisps. Seriously, I can't describe how good this is. (Unless you don't like Asian or strong flavours, in which case you won't like it hahaha!)

I’m from Louisiana and the only apps we had for a crab/shrimp boil were beer, crackers, chips and dip, nothing fancy and straight out of the bag, box or store bought container of dip! LOL too busy having fun to go all fancy!

Just a couple Abita beers whenever we had one.
A friend recently brought over Costco spinach triangles (frozen) that she baked with triangles of pepperjack cheese on top. They were gobbled down at our cookout.

Perhaps some pimento dip with toast points or crackers?
