Are you watching? On Netflix. Literally every kid at work is watching it so in order to stay cool I decided to check it out. I'm only one episode in, intriguing. Quite violent. So far it feels like an adult Hunger Games. In Korean.
There also is another show that looks similar, only Japanese, called Alice in Borderland but I heard it's not as good.
I'm watching so many shows right now I'm almost overwhelmed, because I don't watch TV that often so it takes me a long time to finish a series.

That’s next on my list. Alice in Borderland was great the first few episodes, but wasn’t a fan of the ending. Another series on Netflix is Sweet Home. Was worth it just to watch the incredible special effects/monsters.

We watched the first 4 episodes and are really enjoying it. It is certainly very violent, but the story is great. The dubbing is over the top though, we switched to subtitles because I was laughing too hard at the overacting dubbing actors.
Intrigued to see where it is headed.

First show in awhile that we binged- thankful it’s 9 episodes and not more like other korean dramas. My to-watch list is long as it is I watched without knowing much about it and I am glad I did. So many people are talking about the show. it’s very well-designed and I suggest watching the interviews with the director/actors/art director afterwards to hear their perspectives (on Netflix korea’s YouTube channel). I also agree that watching with subtitles are better than dubbing.

I'm on episode 2. I'm not liking it very much but I suppose I'll stick with it just to find out who the bad guys are, and what happens. So far I haven't seen any of the "competitions" except the one at the very beginning.... I'm at the point in this episode where the young woman is sneaking around inside the ceiling ducts.

I’m completely obsessed
This is the absolute best writing on a show in a very long time.
The dubbing is awful. Definitely do subtitles so you can hear the acting of the original actors, which is fantastic.

I haven't heard of this show at all so thanks so much for posting. I love Korean horror movies so this sounds right up my alley. I'll give it a shot.

I loved it and binged it, too. It very much reminded me of the movie Parasite - kind of a horror-slash-dark comedy that sends a message about social status/class. I started out watching with subtitles but switched to dubbing. I found I missed too much of the emotion on the actors’ faces when I was reading along.

Until this thread, I had no idea it was dubbed! I watched every episode with subtitles.
Was hard to watch some of it because of the violence. Definitely was not expecting many of the twists.

I was hoping someone was going to talk about this show! The violence is intense but it’s a great story. Highly recommend, NOT for children.

Literally every kid at work is watching it so in order to stay cool I decided to check it out This made me LOL. DS asked me if I'd watched it and the way he described it was as a reality show (my favorite genre). Then I watched the trailer. According to him it is all anyone is talking about on campus. I'll probably get to it sometime this week and will definitely watch with subtitles over dubbing.

I just finished episode 5. Still not sure that I like it. lol. I'm watching with dubbing because I couldn't bear to sit and read all the subtitles... I don't like to pay that much attention to any TV show. lol

I watch a lot of foreign language shows but since I have to pay close attention, I don't get anything else done while watching.

I binged it with my teen son - and that part I loved. It's hard to find those moments where we can chill together. I got 9 hours of it! He loved it, I liked it a lot. I felt it got better as it went on.

I’m binging this now. I’m hooked! I hate the subtitles. They didn’t line up with what they dialog was to the point I found it distracting.

We watched two episodes last night. First episode was pretty violent… I commented to DH that I haven’t seen this many headshots since John Wick. Second was slow moving so watching them back to back was probably not a good idea. Interested in seeing what episode 3 brings.

I tried...but I have a hard time watching anything that is dubbed...I end up focusing on the mouths not matching the words, and I miss everything. I think I'll try again.

This is an article about it that's not behind a paywall that discusses how the creator has worked to get this on screen for 10 years: Article. Reminded me how Harry Potter was rejected by so many and now...

My son (age 33) just told me about this over the weekend. I will definitely check it out! (Although I'm thinking it might be too violent for me.)

It sounds dreadful. A definite no from me - not what I want in a TV show or consider entertainment.

I am intrigued, but I hate gore. Is it gory? Scary? I don't think it's too scary; you pretty much always know what's going to happen (at least, after the first game, you do). There is certainly a lot of blood, and I can think of at least one scene with brains ... but otherwise not too gory, either.

I am intrigued, but I hate gore. Is it gory? Scary? I think it's very gory! People shot point-blank, people falling from high up, lots of blood... etc. I gave up. I watched until the tug-of-war game but then that was it. Too awful.

I am intrigued, but I hate gore. Is it gory? Scary? Intensely gory. Korean cinema is known for its gore. I won’t watch it when my kids are in the house because I can’t risk them walking in. I can’t fathom the person who said it’s not gory 😨 Mild spoilers: Lots of blood, removal of organs on people who are still alive, intense closeups of various organs including brains and eyeballs, point blank shooting, stabbing, glass in the body injuries, cremation, description of rape, heads with half the skull missing, intestines spilling out of bodies.
