The ones that come to mind are Eric Carle (gift to me when I was a kid from my mom's friend) and Christopher Paul Curtis signed a copy of Bud, Not Buddy for me (my aunt got me that one). And my aunt is a published author, so one of hers too. I also happened upon a signed copy of a Bill Bryson book at a secondhand store. I gave that to my mom.

I think I have one that I bought not knowing it was signed. LOL. I do always check at Half Priced books - they have a signed by the author section and if I saw one that had significance to me I would get it.

The only one I can think of is Jeffrey Archer. He was out here doing a book signing for his latest novel at a shopping centre, so I went to buy the book and lined up to get it signed. I made a bit of a dick of myself. As I walked up to get my book signed, I said something silly like "It's been a long time between drinks" (meaning since his last book). This was about the time he had been in the tabloids about his affair(s). He looked up at me in absolute horror, probably thinking OMG who is this woman, did I ever sleep with her, why don't I remember. So then I said "I mean a long time between books." He just looked at me and said "I write one every year." So I stammered "Oh, uh, it just seems like a long time to wait!" and raced off. So embarrassing.

Iām a history geek and have a signed book from Lucy Worsley ( she does some historical tv programs in addition to being an author, lecturer, and chief curator of the Historic Royal Palaces in the UK. I attended an online talk she gave about Queen Victoria and paid extra foe the book that inspired the lecture.
I Kicked myself for not bringing some of my historical costuming books to be signed when I attended a small lecture where two authors/editors of several books I own were speaking.

Several kid books, for sure. I can't think of any of my own books, though.

I have about 100. I bought two boxes at an estate sale a year or so ago, sealed unknown authors, etc, 5 dollars a box. All books signed, most first editions with evaluations of the signatures inside the covers. Some are obscure authors but some are well known. Havenāt decided what to do with them yet. My other 20 or so or ones I had gotten signed are just sentimental value only.

I have, but more due to the situation rather than actually wanting an autograph. I'm not one that's interested in autographs etc. A couple of times I've been at author events and bought the book because I wanted to read it and then you kind of get shuffled along to have it signed.
I've always been fascinated by the show Hoarders & then I worked with someone who's husband is a psychologist who works with hoarders, when he went to an International conference he bought me back the new book by hoarding expert Randy Frost, signed by him, but it doesn't say anything witty, just my name & his signature.

I just have one, The Fourth Bear by Jasper Fforde. My sister used to buy me his books for Christmas and she stumbled across a signing one day when she ran into a shopping centre to go to the loo, so he wrote a Christmas message to me in it.

I have lots of signed books, but my favorite is a hardcover copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, signed by JK Rowling and still sealed in plastic (because why should I actually get to enjoy owning it? ). Everyone in my family knows it goes to my nephew when I die, because Iām the one who browbeat him into reading HP when he was resistant, and of course he got hooked. Getting me the last signed copy at our local bookshop for my birthday was his idea.

I have several. I was wandering through our local shopping centre, when I noticed a man sitting inside a bookshop at a desk with a pile of books all by himself. It was Bryce Courtenay, one of my favourite Australian authors. I went in and chatted to him for about 10 minutes and he signed my copy of "The Potato factory". I have been to see Brian Cox a few times live and the last occasion, my grandson had just started university studying astrophysics so we bought him a ticket for a greet and meet. I was teaching science at the time and wore my galaxy printed dress. First thing Brian said was "I love your dress!" We all got a signed copy of his latest book. My favourite one- We had front row seats to see John Cleese and Eric Idle on stage. They did the bookshop sketch where the birdwatcher wanted a book with gannets. John C threw the book across the stage and it landed right between my feet!" During the interval, I went to show a friend who I knew was in the audience a few rows back- her brother opened the book and found that they had both signed it saying "Sorry about the gannet". However, the lights went down quickly and I had to try and sneak back to my seat. To my horror, I saw John C standing in a spotlight right in front of my seat, waiting till I returned! I looked up, mortified and he said "that's okay, take your time". The audience laughed and he said "It's ok, she's very nice".

I only have one and that was given to me by my mum. The book is Whatever Happened to Tom Mix by Ted Willis. He was an English scriptwriter. My mum wrote to him and I have the reply he sent her. What do you do with these things that get handed down to you?

DS has a number of children's books signed by author Steven Kellogg. Somehow DH's sister got them for him when he was young. He always drew a picture along with *to my friend, DS* and his signature. Very special.

I have a few.
I have the entire Murderbot Diaries series to date signed by the author (Martha Wells). She and I went to college together so that's almost cheating lol, but she's a terrific writer. They're only her signature, even though I could have had them personalized.
As cool as it is to have a good friend who is also a Locus, Nebula and Hugo winning author, I think the other signed book I have is even cooler - For Spacious Skies: The Uncommon Journey of a Mercury Astronaut, by Scott Carpenter and Kris Stoever and signed by both.

I have a few, mostly just a general signature. My prized book is the late Representative John Lewis' autobiography Walking With the Wind.
He signed it "To Lynn, Keep the faith. Best wishes, John Lewis"
I also have Tomie DePaolo's signature on Strega Nona. My mom was a school librarian and she got it for me (OK, for my kids, but they weren't impressed, LOL).

I received a John Besh autographed cookbook as a Christmas gift when he was affiliated with my company. That reminds of a story I'd forgotten... we had a well known chef signing books at work one time so a few of us went down mainly to meet him because he's French and was a bit cute back then (Gabriel Gate for the Aussies). I decided to buy a book so I could chat to him...I asked him a few questions and he was lovely, then he handed me the signed book and said "nice to meet you Patricia" in his very sexy accent I was flustered and said to one of the girls "OMG he knew my name" She just looked at me and said "you're wearing a name badge"

I have two very special ones that were given to me as gifts. My sister met Barry Williams ("Greg Brady") after a play he did in DC back in the 90's. She asked him him write: "Dear Toee, Keep being GROOVY!" Sincerely, Barry Williams. 2. My Mom's boss (early 80's) was the son of Ruth Warrick ("Phoebe Tyler" of the soap opera "All My Children"). Mom didn't meet her, but asked her boss if he could get a special inscription for me. She wrote something like Dear Toee, Hope you have many happy days in Pine Valley. My plan is to give him this book when he graduates from high school. He has absolutely no idea that I have been doing this all these years What an AWESOME surprise that will be for him!!! PolarGreen12....Did you get to chat with Steven King? AussieMeg.....Your story is HILARRRIOUS! You are a brave, brave person! pjaye....How fun to hear him say your NAME in his sexy accent, and....OMG...HOW did he know? My husband has a copy of The Nasty Bits signed by Anthony Bourdain š„² He was going on a work trip to NYC and the book was the āinvitationā everyone received. There is a personal message written as well. That's so cool! I used to work author events as a side gig so I have a bunch! Ozzy Osbourne Did you get to chat with Ozzy? The most special is a signed copy of a Wizard of Oz book by Roger S. Baum, great grandson of L. Frank Baum. Dh and I visited the Wizard of Oz area of the MGM Grand in 2000 and he was there with his new book. We had a good talk about WOZ (huge fan) and he wrote me a nice note. That's so cool---especially that you got to have a conversation! Cool....did you get to chat with him?

S.L.Price. He wrote a book about Mike Coolbaugh, who was a Minor League Baseball coach who was hit by a foul ball and died as a result. It happened at Dickey Stephens Park (my 'home park') the year it opened. The Travelers hosted him one night and I was able to buy a copy and get him to sign it.
Also have poetry books signed by Bear Wolf and Crystal C. Mercer
