I have met or heard of 3 babies born in the last few months named.... Delta!!
I guess like Emma became the name when Rachel from Friends had hers... and Bella became super popular with the Twilight books...

What is making Delta popular? It’s a sweet name that I never hear. It’ll be interesting to see if there are a bunch of them running around in a few years

ummm, not a fan.. because it reminds me of the airline, Delta. It's not a horrible name.. just not something I particularly don't like.
Now the song Delta Dawn is playing in my head.. now I really am not a fan..
HAHA

What is making Delta popular? The variant?? Yeah, because why not call your child after a virus that kills people?! 😧

I think of Delta Burke first when I hear it as a name.
Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell have a daughter named Delta.
I haven't run into one around here yet.

I first thought of Delta Burke and then the airlines. Then the Mississippi River delta. Finally the covid strain.

Y'all must not be in the South, because both Delta and Dixie are pretty common for girls names here. Heck, my cousin even named her cat Delta! I think both are nice names and wouldn't hesitate to use either one even now.
My first thought was Delta Burke and Dixie Carter, as well as the Miss. Delta where I am from originally. Never even thought about Delta Airlines, probably because I rarely fly them these days.

My stepsister named her daughter Delta a few years ago. I didn’t love it then, but it is really cringeworthy to name your baby after the variant of a virus now. Ugh.

To me, it's a very universal word and I don't automatically link it to the virus variant.
It's cute as a girl's name.

There is an Australian singer / actress named Delta Goodrem. One of the reporters I follow on Twitter refers to the current COVID outbreak as "Delta-not-Goodrem" in all of her posts.

Not a name I would choose certainly not now. Even before the variant the name reminds me of the letter D in the international alphabet.

I think of the song Delta Dawn. The lady named Delta in the song seemed to have issues. Then there's the variant and the airlines. Not a name I would pick.

I like it. Reminds me of "Delta Dawn" by Tanya Tucker. This is exactly what I thought of. Maybe it is one of those old names coming back around. I know when I named my daughter the most popular girl name was Olivia. We named her Isadora (in 2008) I had never heard the name before that. Now I see it here and there but we still have yet to meet another Isadora. As crazy as it sounds when she started Kindergarten there was little boy named Isadore (the male version) I couldn't believe it but he goes by Izzy. They are now in middle school together.

I'm a Tri-Delta, so I'd love to love the name. But in 2021, the first thing that comes to mind is the Delta variant. I wouldn't use Delta as a name right now.

I've taken far too much math and physics to name my child a Greek letter, lol. It's a pretty name for others, though.

My dog (we got her a year ago as a puppy) is named Delta. DS is interested in Ancient Rome and our dogs are Cato and Delta.
