For those of you who have had Covid, especially the Omicron variant, can you tell me what your experience was with it? I'm on Day 12 (I'm both fully vaxxed and boosted) and I'm still coughing up a storm, have problems with plugged nose/post-nasal drip, and the fatigue is really starting to get old! I never had a fever or loss of taste/smell, and body aches have been minimal.
What has it been like for you?

I'm sorry, it was pretty mild for me. Though it did take ten days to feel normal again. It wasn't bad, most colds I've had have been much worse, it just dragged on.
My mom has it now and is on day seven of a fever. She called her doctor today to see what can be done. She isn't miserable, it's just taking a while. My dad however who has much worse health overall, never felt as bad and is feeling much better and he got it after her!

I was also triple vaxxed before testing positive (day 11 here). Mine sounds similar. Fever, cough, and headache at the onset. Congestion came later and is still slightly annoying. I wouldn’t say any were “severe”. I did had the fever for about 2 days with some body aches, but I think after that the aches were more from being confined to my room/laying around so much more than normal. I would say my cough was gone by day 6 or 7 luckily, but I know others that weren’t that lucky. My biggest complaint has been the incredible fatigue and loss of stamina. The first few days my chest hurt and any activity more than getting a snack or going to the restroom left me short of breath. Even now climbing a flight of stairs can leave me winded and my HR is definitely above my usual baseline when I look back on my Apple Watch. I have felt a little better the past day or two so I am hopeful I am on the upswing, but having a spouse, 3 kids and a puppy make it tough to just check out for being tired 😏. Hope you feel better soon too!

I had it in Sept, so before Omicron. I coughed for ten solid weeks. It took a month after I was released to get energy back. The first week I was back at work I could barely make it 2-3 hours a day before I had to leave to take a nap. Second week of work I worked 2-3 hours, went home and napped an hour and then went back and worked a couple more hours. Third week I could work about 4 hours and was worn out. Fourth week I worked a full day but was so tired when I got home and went to bed around 6pm every night.
I still have a lot of phantom smells and my forehead has itched since the day I tested positive. Like bad enough I could scratch a hole in my skin. I have also lost about 40% of my hair but it’s starting to grow back.
ETA: it also messed with my blood pressure and vision prescription .

DH tested positive on Jan. 1, Me on Jan 2 and DD on Jan 3. For me the symptoms were body aches, fever and chills (the chills were so bad that my skin hurt and I couldn't stand to be out from under a blanket even just long enough to run to the bathroom). Cough started at day 3. Still have fatigue, but able to go all day without a nap for the past 10 days. The cough is getting OLD!!! I finally called my dr. and she gave me Tessalon PERLES (cough medicine pills). They never work well for me, but I still tried them. A few days later I called her back and told her I needed something better/stronger. I got an inhaler and a steroid. They are helping out a lot!!!
DH's symptoms were fever, chills, aches, cough, stuffy nose.
DD's symptoms were all the same as mine and DH's and she also threw up for 3 nights (evenings only).
I hope you feel better soon!

Good grief, this stuff sounds terrible! If Omnicron is this bad, please spare me from Delta. I'm sorry you guys--it sounds really really miserable.

Ive not tested positive but DS1 did last week. He ran 102 for 4 days, body aches and chills and had a horrible cough (like a smokers cough). He threw up the first day, but then was fine with that the rest of the week. He still has a small cough but its more like a post nasal drip type cough now. He was double vaxxed.

My DS (18) got it three weeks ago. No fever, no chills. Just a mild sore throat and a mild runny nose for 3 days. Two days after those symptoms were done, he got hives. It started on his face and shoulders, and worked their way down his body over the course of 3 days. For him, that was the worst part. Benadryl only reduced the hives a bit. My BIL (56), tested positive last week, but had no symptoms.

2 full days of fever and the worst body aches I’ve ever had. Although I never felt congested and never developed a cough, my sinuses were a mess. I had bloody mucus for about 5 days. Several of my coworkers also had bloody sinuses which hadn’t been something I heard people mention as a symptom. I did get shortness of breath as my final symptom about 5 days in and it lasted a week. I was vaccinated but not boosted at the time.

Both my adult kids got it. We were exposed on New Year’s Eve. My DS got it first. Started with sore throat, then congestion. He thought he was getting another sinus infection (has had 2 within a month in December). He took a rapid test and it was positive. That night he had a low grade fever and just continued with cold like symptoms. I think I day 3 he lost his sense of taste and smell. By day 5 he was feeling better and I’d say by day 7 he was pretty much back to normal other than his senses but he has those back now. He said it felt like the flu. His worst sick time was over the weekend but otherwise he was able to work from home. He never developed cough. I was most worried about him because he has a heart defect and his oxygen sats are normally in the low 90’s anyway so I always worry about a respiratory illness.
My DD got it a couple days after he was on the mend. She had a severe sore throat for 3-4 days, low grade fever and congestion also body aches. Also no cough. She never lost her sense of taste or smell. She was feeling almost 💯 by day 5. She said she felt as sick as she could ever remember. I think her sore throat was the worst for her.
DH and I never got it. We tested several times both rapid and lab tests. Haven’t gotten any symptoms either. I had to test for work. It’s an odd virus that’s for sure!
Edited to add both were vaccinated but only DD was boosted. DS had his sinus infection when he tried to get his booster

My husband is somewhere around day 15 and still has a slight cough and some fatigue. His symptoms have been mild but they seem to linger. He’s fully vaccinated, boosted, etc.
The upside is that he seems to have had such a low viral load that he hasn’t given it to either of our kids, though they spent significant time here when he first started feeling badly - he thought it was allergies. We’re not sure yet if he gave it to me - I have some mild symptoms but rapid tests have been negative. Waiting on PCR results now.
Hope you’re feeling better soon.

... but having a spouse, 3 kids and a puppy make it tough to just check out for being tired 😏. This is one way where I am fortunate. My children are grown and out of the house, so i don't have to worry about day-to-day care for them. My husband is pretty self-sufficient and had a killer weekend for work, so I didn't have to worry about him. He did wind up testing positive, but had no symptoms at all (how is that fair LOL). All in all, it's been very easy for me to just check out!

My strange symptom was hot flashes - I'd have one about every half hour or so. I never had a fever, though.

Tested positive on Jan 1 and negative on Jan 10 not sure it took that long, it was impossible to find tests then. (Now i Finally have some that i ordered back on 1/2). Cough and congestion still going on. I had severe sore throat, lost my voice, and it felt like a really bad sinus infection. No aches or pains. Did not lose taste or smell. Felt just a bit tired. Now if the cough would just go away… i would be so much better.
I’m grateful for science!
Hope everyone feels better soon.

FIL, MIL and DH got it right after Christmas. I have no idea how I escaped (or maybe I was just asymptomatic - I can't get tested to find out). Anyway, for all three it was a mild cold with a cough. After 3-5 days most cold symptoms were gone, though DH still has an occasional cough. All are vaxxed and boosted, though DH only got his booster 5 days before he got symptoms so the booster wouldn't have been doing him much good. We all feel pretty fortunate, because it clearly could have been much worse. My in-laws are in their late 70's so I'm incredibly relieved they got off so easy and with no lasting side effects.

I posted this in another thread….
I was likely exposed 12/17 at school. Last day before break. Looking back, my first symptom went undetected.
12/22 my tea tasted salty
12/23 started coughing, I have allergies and asthma so not out of the norm
12/24 coughing got worse so I took my inhaler and allergy meds. Around 4 my body hurt so bad! I took my temp and it was 101. Had some soup and dozed off and on until the kids went to bed and we got Christmas set up.
12/25 forced myself out of bed and showered at 8 to do Christmas. I camped out on the couch, did FaceTime with my family, napped and scrolled here and Facebook but even that was asking too much of my body so I mostly slept on the couch. At 6, I had a 103 fever so I took Tylenol and went to bed. Pretty sure I was hallucinating because I could feel the head radiating from the soles of my feet!
12/26 still had 103 fever and again showered and camped out on the couch for the day. Tylenol and early to bed.
12/27 no more fever and I felt so much better! Energy has been great since. Stuffy head for a few days after.
12/28 found a home test and I was positive
12/29 PCR of everyone but DH in the family… me +, DD (10) +, DS (5) -, DH refused to test. We were all together so it didn’t matter. We all quarantined together. DD had to miss 3 days of school when we went back. She was asymptomatic.
1/22 I still have the cough. It’s not getting any worse.
The kicker here is that before my first symptom, we saw FIL and his wife and her DD 12/19, we saw SIL, BIL, niece, nephew 12/19 and they came to stay with us until 12/22. We saw MIL and her BF 12/20. We went out to dinner 12/20. All vaxxed except my 2 kids. Not a single one ended up sick!!

I apparently was exposed last Monday. Woke up Thursday with a headache and sore throat. Home test negative. Friday woke feeling worse, now with a runny nose and home test negative again. By Friday evening I had a low grade fever and body aches and cough started when I tried to go to bed. Then I found out my BFF I was with Monday was also sick and awaiting her Covid results. Home test came back positive Saturday morning, and I have been quarantined in our basement since. I felt like Thur and Fri was the worst and Sunday was thinking I was on the mend so got off the couch a bit to be productive and quickly realized I was still sick. Tonight I think I am feeling better but I keep coughing up thigh phlegm, and my throat is still a bit sore. Never lost my taste or smell, or appetite for that matter.
I did learn that when counting your 5 days to quarantine that your first day of symptoms is day 0, I would have thought it would be day 1. And then I wondered how many people are only quarantined for 4 days instead of 5.
Edited to add - I am tripled vaxxed.

I just tested positive and it is extremely mild. I’m vaccinated and got the booster shot too.
I feel as though I have a very mild cold. No fevers, no cough, just a slight cold. Before I realized it might be Covid I went on a 4+ mile hike with friends and it didn’t slow me down.
I’m very very thankful.

Adult DS had it early January. Honestly, he only tested because he knew he had been exposed after a weekend away with some friends and he wanted to make sure he would not infect us, otherwise he probably wouldn’t have tested. He hardly had any symptoms.
It is weird though how it affects everyone differently. We had Delta (presumably) last April, unvaccinated (wasn’t available yet for our age group in the Netherlands), DH had what seemed like a mild cold, our athletic and very health conscious adult DS was really sick for a couple of days and I felt absolutely terrible for 10 days and it took a long time before I had my energy back. I did not however lose smell and taste at all.
I hope you recover quickly!

My dd19 has just finished isolation after testing positive. She got away really lightly. She tested because of a mild sore throat but really only had 1/2 day of coughing and sore neck muscles. Other than that the main irritant was that she wasn’t allowed to leave the house. She is double vexed.

It is not a cold, and unfortunately long Covid can happen with any variant. The focus needs to be on Long Covid, not just number of positive cases or deaths, but the potential lifetime effects of contracting this disease. OP I hope you are feeling better soon.

One of my nieces is just getting over Omicron COVID. They had a fever of 104 for the first few days, which was scary. Then the fever broke and she just felt really crappy for a few more days---achy, sinus pain/pressure, very fatigued/lethargic, etc. She started feeling better by the end of the week, but she kept testing positive even once she felt better. It was about 12-14 days before she finally tested negative again. As of right now she does not seem to have any lingering symptoms, thank goodness. (For those wondering, she was fully vaccinated, but had not gotten her booster yet. She now has to wait 2 weeks to get the booster, which she is going to do. She already had an appointment for the booster, but it fell during the time she was already sick. )
