Paragraphs are your friend and mine. Honestly, when I open a thread if the post is one long run-on paragraph with no breaks, I close it without even bothering. It hurts my eyes and gives me a headache. Be kind to your fellow Refupeas: use paragraphs, please.

Yes!
Absolutely agree.
It is SO difficult to read your post if there are no spaces or breaks in your writing.

Your eyes must be awfully weak if they hurt after reading a block of text unbroken by a blank line, just like the people who claim they get headaches if they have to read in all caps.

Also, the text wraps.
It is not necessary to hit return as you near the end of the text block. The computer will take care of it. I do not like to feel like I am reading free-form poetry.

I'm assuming she's joking / exaggerating about her eyes hurting and getting a headache. I do agree, if I see a post with just a big block of typing I rarely read past the first line.

I have exotropia with crossed diplopia, so yes, it does hurt my eyes. However, I think you'll find that many people with perfectly normal vision also experience difficulty in reading large blocks of text without breaks. Even healthy eyes need to rest now and again. You're a real peach, aren't you? Why would you make such an assumption?

Hurt eyes, headaches or not, it just plain hard to read. If it is easier for you to type it out that way, go for it. Then go back and correct/make paragraphs before hitting send. I do that sometimes. If I've forgotten or haven't sometimes, sorry.

All caps or no paragraphs can be difficult to read. And if someone is straining to see/read something, then yes, it can eventually cause discomfort. I don't understand why it seems hard for you to believe this can be true for some folks.

You can either read on the internet without pain or you can't. I don't believe for one second that a blank line every now and again makes all the difference. It might help keep thoughts and points separate, but saying it's the difference between actual pain and no pain? Or being physically able to read or not read a post? Not buying it.

I tend not to bother reading seemingly endless posts, with no paragraphs often very little in the way of punctuation. It is too much like hard work.

You know what's odd? I put hard breaks while I am typing, but when I post, the breaks sometimes go away. Testing. (One return)
Another test (two returns)
update. I learned that I need to press return twice.

I'm dyslexic - reading a large block of text is impossible for me.

Why we use paragraphs, and how to use them: www.bobbrooke.com/WritersCorner/paragraphswhentouse.htmPersonally, I don't read long, incoherent blocks of text because I don't enjoy trying to organize your thoughts for you. If you want to make a point or convince me of something, you'll have to organize them yourself.

I have some eye issues that make it difficult for me to read long blocks of texts. Actually, if I could get you all to use really BIG font, and only a couple of words per line that would be great. Thanks.

Thanks Garcia 5050 for the tip. If this post is in reference to my earlier posting............I would like everyone to know that I did attempt to put spaces between the paragraphs in my post. I hit "enter" once but when I hit "send/upload" and my posting showed up, the spacing between paragraphs wasn't there. I will follow Garcia 5050's tip next time. I wish people would not ASSUME someone is ignorant of grammar when it is only a matter of not understandings the functions of this board. Of course I'm "liable" to do it again..........hahahahahaha.....so grammar police, get out your red pen!!

Being kind to your fellow Refupeas I would rather more Peas close the tread then reply with how dumb they think the OP is. It seems like many can read well enough to post at least some type of, "Well I would never . . ." reply.

Long paragraphs don't bother me at all. Long posts are usually fun although I do feel some posters are lacking in communication skills and could have been more concise. I sometimes wonder if they didnt read what was written before hitting the send button. But we all have different styles and the verbose get to participate too.
