I'm so sorry things didn't turn out better. I'm glad your kids are going ahead with their plans. I would absolutely want my own children to do so in a similar situation, even if I was the one injured.

I'm sorry to read your not great update. It must be so tough on all of your family. I haven't been in that situation, but I can imagine your emotions are all over the place and that you must be emotionally exhausted as well. I hope as a family you can come together and support each other through it all. And, yes, life for everyone else does, should and must go on.

Oh, gosh. Your poor kids. I'm glad they've been able to move on with their lives, as they should, but this must still be such a weight on them.

@revirdsuba, yes, my sons are still involved - older DS is still living in Iowa finishing school, but he comes home frequently, and younger DS is doing great with his landscaping business and goes to see his dad a lot. XDH has 2 older daughters from his first marriage, and one of them is assuming the main role in care - she is on a leave of absence from work, etc. and also his siblings and friends visit frequently.
