I went to France back in September but would hesitate to book European travel right now due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
My husband and youngest son have a trip booked to Canada in May. And that same son may travel to Namibia in August or September. That’s all we’re looking at right now.

I probably wouldn’t book to Europe right now just because of Ukraine. But I have no problem going elsewhere. A recent thread about Punta Cana has me thinking …
DH also owes me a long overdue trip to Africa, but that would most likely be next year.

We are talking about Europe in the fall. The only thing we are uncertain about is the impact of the war in Ukraine. If we do book, we will make sure everything is refundable.
My brother's honeymoon trip to ski in the Alps was scheduled for 4/20. It was canceled again last year. They are now scheduled to leave in a few weeks. I don't think anything absent a ban on international travel will keep them home this time.

We are booked for a Mediterranean cruise to Italy/France/Spain for end of May-June. I am not sure what to do. The cruise line extended the deposit period one month, so, we still have a couple of weeks before we pay in full. This is the last time we will be all together with the 3 kids for a couple of years, and we have been planning this trip since October.
I truly don’t know what to do.

We went to Europe last summer and will be going this summer also. Both were/are Viking Cruises. Full travel insurance for both. Whenever we do expensive trips we buy insurance. Last summer was fine. Ukraine is concerning but Viking is great about keeping people updated. First time we were on a Viking cruise we were in Paris when it was attacked (October 2015) and Viking could not have cared for us better. I feel comfortable at this point. It is a tough decision and whatever decision you make will be the right one for you.

My friends are doing a cruise to those countries at the same time as you. It’s rescheduled from last year. She’s just watching for now. We booked a trip to Italy for November so we’ll just wait and see. Otherwise I came across this guy who travels around finding crystals in mines and dirt. It’s US and I think dd would like it too so I’m looking into that. We’d do other stuff too.

I think Europe in the fall will be great.
We are leaving for London and Paris on Sunday. We don’t need to test to get in to either country. We need a rapid test to return home. Our Canadian gov’t has alluded to getting rid of the testing in April. I assume US will be similar so I think by fall you won’t have to deal with any covid restrictions. I was worried about going to where there were no masks but our gov’t is expected to remove the mask mandate here this week so it will be same as here.
I’m not worried about Russia extending its aggression into Western Europe right now. I also think it will be over by fall.
My dd has an organized trip booked for summer. They are supposed to spend one week in Poland and the trip is still a go. Literally hasn’t been cancelled. I’m not holding my breath, but out gov’t doesn’t have a travel advisory to Poland. The Canadian gov’t has an advisory for France because of terrorism but no advisory for Poland.

We have booked tickets but will only book with travel insurance in case we have to cancel. We would never buy travel insurance before. Make sure you read the small print carefully - while each insurance company sets its own inclusions and exclusions many do exclude war, whether declared or undeclared. And it’s not necessarily dependant on whether the country you are in is at war, but whether any war is affecting your claim in any way. They are also likely to have special clauses about covid. I would never travel overseas without travel insurance (lost luggage, fall and break your arm, miss your flight because of a traffic jam etc), but especially not in the foreseeable future.

We are going to Scotland/Ireland in August. It’s the third time it’s been rescheduled. I hope we’re able to go this time if possible. The tour company has been great so far with all the rescheduling. We’ve been on two cruises since October but they were to Mexico and Honduras.

We have 2 short trips coming up very soon - Sicily at the end of this month and Venice next month. At this stage we'll still go unless anything changes drastically.

We have booked a trip to the UK for June for my son’s graduation, which was cancelled in 2020 due to Covid. We were so happy that the University is actually giving the students a grad ceremoney that we didn’t want to miss it. We booked before Russia invaded Ukraine, but are using frequent flyer miles so if we need to cancel due to the war or Covid, we can just dump the miles back in our account. I am more concerned about the war at this point, not Covid, but who knows what will happen. I think if we were planning a regular family vacation, we would not go to Europe right now.

Yes, I would and AM (and have already done). Most airlines at least allow no change fees; so, if you have to cancel, you will have a travel credit to use toward the future. Same for hotels; don't pay in advance and you can cancel until right up to your scheduled arrival.
Life is short; I sat out for a while but with three vaccinations I feel personally safe to travel.

We are traveling internationally right now for the first time since Covid and it’s been a positive experience. I would do it again, with the exception of traveling to Europe. I’d wait on that til this with Ukraine settles down.

No, much as we want to travel to many different countries, now isn't the time IMO.

I am not planning on traveling to Europe this summer. We were thinking of Norway but had decided to wait one more year because I am tired of all the before and after COVID testing. I would not hesitate to go to Western Europe on account of Putin. I think the biggest issue is how expensive things will probably get.

I just returned from a trip to Iceland. Life is short and while I will be cautious, I won’t be paranoid. Can we chat? I would love to hear about your trip. I'll be there for 11 days by myself. Certainly I’d love to talk. It’s an amazing place. I wish I’d stayed after the group left to visit an ice cave. PM me.

We’re supposed to be in Buenos Aires right this second. But we got Covid ten days ago and are still testing positive. So that’s how our attempt at international travel went down. I’m hesitant to rebook too as one of our daughters still hasn’t gotten covid. I don’t think I could emotionally handle another trip being canceled.

We are going to Paris in June. I was a little hesitant because of Ukraine, but when I was shopping for airfare, Air France had a special that if you booked before March 1 for travel before June 30, it is fully refundable. Even economy. So as of right now, we are going, but I do have out if we need it.

We live in Belgium. Europe is really opening up now. We are currently in Germany and we didn’t have to wear a mask at all in the restaurant once seated. You do need to show proof of vaccination to eat in the restaurant, however. And We did need a mask for the grocery store yesterday. Rules are similar in Belgium and France. Rates are falling here and I hear rumors (in Belgium) that they will do away with the digital vaccination passes.
The big plus of traveling her now—and it’s a HUGE benefit—is that we aren’t seeing the hoards of tourists. You can actually go somewhere and SEE what it is that you are there to see. When you are there with 10+ busses of tourists, it can get a bit overwhelming. Europe is only recognizing the same vaccines that the US is using, but other areas of the world are using their own vaccines. If you aren’t vaccinated with AZ, Pfizer, J&J, or Moderna, you have to test upon entry and every 2-3 days. You need proof of these negative tests to get into restaurants and museums. So we aren’t seeing the huge tour busses of people from those other countries, whose cultural differences can make them a bit jarring when their sense of personal space, standing in line or waiting for a turn isn’t the same.
The presence (or lack thereof!) of tourists packing into museums and sites is WONDERFUL and makes up for the inconveniences of COVID, IMO. I wouldn’t plan travel to Europe unless I had trip insurance, but IMO the expense is worth is for the gain.

The pandemic wouldn't stop me at this point in time, but Russia's aggression would. We're staying domestic for the time being.

We are leaving for Dominican Republic tomorrow, have Alaska and Italy booked for the summer, and hope to fit in Egypt right before Christmas. I don't think I would go to Poland/Belarus/etc. but the rest of Europe would not faze me. Our hotels in Italy have no cancellation penalty and as long as the airline would give us credit for an itinerary change, I would book that, too. We're just waiting for Canada to drop the test-to-return policy, but the Ukraine invasion would not deter me from other travel plans.
