Yes to some countries but not all with a flexible cancellation options in place for what I would be booking. I have traveled outside of the US twice this year.

if covid taught us nothing it should be "strike while the iron is hot", who knows what is coming down the pipe next - we could have another pandemic that shuts down the world for 5 yrs next time... go for it. I second that

I am bumping this to hear about the trips people had planned. I hope everyone had fun. We spent 12 days in Italy in late May and had an amazing time! Life is short so take the trip is my mantra. I don't want to be on my death bed and say I we we took more family trips.

No international travel for me this year but I'm planning to return to the UK and Europe probably next May.

We’re in Switzerland as I write this. Took a side trip after Octoberfest in Munich. If you’re at all concerned about Covid, Oktoberfest wasn’t the place to be. We don’t even have to fill out a Spanish Health Pass to get back to Barcelona. Everything’s open and it’s been great.

Really Red - Please let your daughters know this. A group of young women who work with my DH were at Oktoberfest on Saturday. Yesterday, he heard from one of them that she was really sick - had briefly blacked out, had vision problems and was throwing up constantly through the night. Her BF ended up calling the non-emergency out of hours doctor service here (116117, in case needed) and they are pretty sure that someone spiked her drink at some point during the evening. With the tents being so crowded, it is very easy to lose sight of your drink and also equally easy for someone to slip something into a beer mug. There are first aiders on site, and there is also a 'women's safety' zone run by one of the ambulance services, if they feel threatened in any way.

We went to Greece in June. Just Go! Enjoy yourselves! We got covid somewhere at the end of our trip but didn't start showing symptoms until we got back. We didn't have to test, luckily. We are really glad we finally got to take the trip that we scheduled for 2020. We had a great time. Covid was just a bad cold for my dh and ds. I barely had symptoms (it was all in my throat) and we took Paxlovid and were fine.
I would really go. It's the perfect time to go.
As for Russia, I wouldn't worry about it. Greece is much closer to Russia and we had zero issues.

They are supremely cautious, but it's hard at the Oktoberfest, I know. Fortunately, they are with a group of young adults and aren't just the two of them. It is very scary. Thanks for letting me know!

Thanks for letting me know! This young woman was in a large group - 12 of them in total, including some guys. It is very scary. M said she was feeling much better today, but still worked from home. She is still rather shaken by it all, and has no desire to return this year.

We did a road trip to Virginia from Canada in July and an Alaskan cruise out of seattle in August - both amazing!!! And we're leaving for Honduras first week of October, but we travelled there all throughout covid. This time will be the easiest, no testing requirements or quarantines required anymore. And it sounds like no masks will be required on the planes starting October 1 so that's a plus.
My dd has been in Ireland since the end of August, and will be going to England in October. And DS is in Germany right now for work, he went to Munich on saturday to go oktoberfesting. Sunday he toured Dachau
No fear of travel here!
