Other fictional character deaths that really upset me were Mark Green's death on ER, Shelby's in Steel Magnolias Definitely these two!! Up & Big Hero 6 Disney movies were tear-jerkers for me!! I'm sure there are tons of others. LOL I'm a sap too! Yes, Ellie in Up, and also when she loses her baby.

And if you’ve ever read the book “A Little Life” - oh, Lord. I walked around in a slump for a week after I finished it. Yes. I hated that book so much and yet think of it often. I still have not recovered from reading it. ETA: gutted is an appropriate term here. This book left me scarred.

James Bond/Daniel Craig in No Time To Die - not sure I'll ever enjoy a Bond film so much now he's ended his reign. Does that count? Yes this counts!! Me too!! I was so sad and mad! Somehow the ending hadn't been spoiled for me and I was so surprised and upset.

Any animal movie, especially dogs, e.g. Old Yeller, which DH and DS know not to utter because I will immediately burst into tears. Charlotte in Charlotte's Web. Bambi. In addition to some mentioned already, Finnick Odair's death in Mockingjay really got me.

Me too! When Sophia comes out of the barn in the Walking Dead. As a matter of fact a lot of the characters on the Walking Dead. And most were zombies Also the movie with the dog that would go to the train station to wait for his owner every day while he was at work, and then the guy suddenly died. The dog continued to go to the station to wait for the guy every day hoping he would come back. And then the dog finally died too. Hachi. OMG. It’s a true story. Now that one - gut wrenching.

Will on The Good Wife - I was so shocked as I didn't know he was leaving the show and my reaction was loud enough to make all my kids come out of their rooms to make sure I was okay.

My 2nd grade teacher read Where the Red Fern Grows to us. The chapter where Little Ann dies, I got sobbing so hard. I remember the teacher sending me to the office and the Principal sitting with me until my Mom came to get me. My older brother told me to be prepared because Dan dies too. 😂
I must be a sap because I cry in almost every movie, book, TV show where someone dies.

The dogs in the book Where the Red Fern Grows I've never read the book - I saw that the movie was coming on and told my sister I had set it to record since I had never seen it. She said "DON'T watch it" - She knows how I am...she said I wouldn't be able to handle it.

For some reason, the death of Marshall’s father in How I Met Your Mother really hit me. The look on Lily’s face when he got home and she was waiting to tell him hurts my heart.

Every dog that ever dies in any movie. Or book. I literally cried for 45 minutes after reading the first few pages of The Art of Racing in the Rain. I am the same way with that book...We saw the movie the night before the official release and I cried so hard at the start of the movie I couldn't regain my composure for the whole movie.

So many of these!
My two earliest memories are Charlotte in Charlotte’s Web and Colonel Blake on MASH.

Every dog that ever dies in any movie. Or book. I literally cried for 45 minutes after reading the first few pages of The Art of Racing in the Rain. For everyone who gets upset at animal deaths you should utilize the website "does the dog die". It will detail as much as you want it to about whether an animal is harmed but lives, if the animal actually dies,.whether it's shown on screen or off screen. I find it invaluable when watching movies. The other thing that gutted me was Nestor The Long Eared Donkey. Just typing that out is making me cry. That movie traumatized me. I still can't even say it out loud without choking up. There was a Garfield cartoon when Odie was taken to the pound that was really upseting to me as a child as well. Obviously I am much better about having someone screen things for me now. I cannot handle animal stuff. Oh, and the scenes where Aslan is shaved in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

I'm another who cries at everything. The first movie I remember bawling my eyes out in is Steel Magnolias. That's still my most favorite movie of all time and I cry like a baby every time I watch it. Any time a pet dies, I cry.

Along with many already mentioned, I watched Untamed Heart (Christian Slater, Marisa Tomei) when I was about 8 months pregnant. Was still crying 30 minutes later.
I also cannot watch City of Angels (Nicolas Cage, Meg Ryan) unless I'm alone and have a box of tissues.
Seeking a Friend For the End of the World (Steve Carrel and Keira Knightley) just kills me because he's so kind to her at the end like my husband would be...I am tearing up typing this lol...
And no one died during Kramer vs Kramer but it can take me right back to my parents getting divorced and it's really painful. I hate it.
YOU GUYS I AM LITERALLY CRYING RIGHT NOW HAHAHA OMG hormones must be off!

And speaking of crying when pets die, had anyone been following the horrific attack of Buddy the cat? Two kids urged their dogs to attack him and it was caught on camera. I was so upset I was gutted for the rest of the day. I couldn't even talk about it or post about it. I'm only able to now that there have been numerous updates that they caught the kids and Buddy lived and has been adopted by the vet who treated him, and is recovering well (I saw video of him playing with a feather wand and it just lifted my heart so much).

I agree with many already mentioned.
Also: Richard Geer in Sommersby with Jodie Foster.
Riff and Bernardo's deaths in the original West Side Story.
James Caan as Brian Piccolo in Brian's Song. When I hear the music in a store, I tear up. The part where Billy Dee Williams (playing Gayle Sayers) is telling the team that Brian has cancer, I bawl like a baby every time.

it didn't gut me but it's irked me all these years----tony soprano. if he didn't die in that diner in the series finale, then something else would have gotten him prematurely.

okay no one dies but the Shirley Temple movie Heidi always killed me. "Grandfather! Grandfather!" when they take her away from him..omg. I would literally bawl.
I was super close to my grandpa and he looked a lot like him to me. Even typing this out makes me teary eyed.

I also really cried in Steel Magnolias. Same! And also the plot twist death in Mare of Easttown killed me. I'm sure there are plenty more but those two jump out at me. ETA: oh, scanning through the thread, Bobby Simone also. And Mark Greene.
