My husband has a lot of great qualities. Picking gifts is not generally one of them. He was so proud of himself this year and got the both of us signed up for a two hour horseback ride through the Garden of the Gods for my birthday. It is an amazing setting and I love to ride. I've been watching the weather for the last two weeks. It's been dipping down. Today as I drove home from Denver sweating in the 86 degree sunshine, I got a weather warning for Saturday. They are predicting anywhere from 5-18 inches of snow on Saturday! I think I felt more sorry for my husband. I know we can go another weekend, but you'd think May 21st would be a safe day to go riding. So now I'll probably spend the day with my kids in front of the fireplace with some flavored hot cocoa!
What's the weather like in your neck of the woods?

I am sorry. Your husband though did not pick a bad gift, he just had bad timing! Hope you get to go soon!
By the coast, we are at mid-60's to mid-70's. In the 80's a little further east. Our morning May Grey is here which keeps temps cool along the coast.

Oh no! That’s such a bummer but it’s good you can use it another day and won’t lose out. Side question: Have you ever been in the Garden of the Gods when it’s snowing? That must be beautiful. I’ve been there many times in the summer, it’s one of my favorite places on earth.

Oh man, I'm glad you'll be able to go another day. That was a great gift, it's so nice when they surprise you and get it right.
We laid out on the rooftop and worked today, it was in the low 80's and beautiful!

Same but only because I live in CO Spgs. 😂 It’s going to be a crazy change from today to this weekend! I’m sorry about your birthday ride! Such a bummer.
Youngest has been begging to summit Pikes Peak. We made it 6 miles from the top spring break; he wanted to celebrate school being out this weekend with a try. Sigh I’m thinking maybe Aug and right before back to school lol…
Hope you find something indoors for your bday!

I don't ever remember prices jumping like they have. We live in CA in what's called the Central Coast even though our town is 25 miles inland. It is a tourist area so everything is already expensive. Last year we bought a new truck and a travel trailer. I don't think other than a trip we planned several months ago, that we will be doing much camping. I worry about our kids and grandchildren. Im so sorry for those making low salaries.

I’m sorry your birthday plans are falling through! Sounds like your DH did good on the gift though!
It was 100 yesterday and it’s going to be low 60s tomorrow. 😳

Oh our weather has been terrible. Lots of gusty wind, cooler than average temps with rain every couple of days. I haven't planted any flowers yet. Why bother when we still have freeze warnings here at night.

What a great gift! At least you can reschedule.
Our weather is Hot. And really windy. Not a good combo in dry Calif.

Sorry for the change in birthday plans. Snuggling in front of a fire watching it snow sounds pretty great to me.
Here it is hot. Real hot. Damn hot. It should not be in the lower 90s this early in the not quite summer.
Today on top of the heat we have a wind advisory. My poor garden is getting blown over.

I miss Colorado Springs!! When we left years ago on June 1st, we had a 5" snowstorm to send us out of the city.
I'm sorry you're missing your fun horseback ride, but man! It's going to be 96 here tomorrow, so I am crazy envious!

I’m sorry your birthday plans didn’t work out, but what a thoughtful gift. I was in Colorado Springs two weeks’ ago for my nephew’s wedding. My son and I walked through Garden of the Gods park and it was beautiful. The bridal luncheon the next day was at the resort overlooking Garden of the Gods it was a perfect day. The view was stunning. I’m jealous of all of you who live in Colorado Springs!

We were in Littleton last week and went into one of their state parks ($$) to see the same rocks. Love that ours is free. Often crowded- but free.

That would be amazing. Having snow in May isn't unheard of here (especially lately), but the amount of it seems like a lot. My pups don't love the heat, so this snowfall will be their last hurrah before they turn into summer statues.

It's going to be 96 here tomorrow, so I am crazy envious! That was quite a while ago, wasn't it? Seems like we do get some flakes in May and June. I can remember my boys having their baseball pictures taken on Father's Day and it was snowing. No accumulation but snow.

We laid out on the rooftop and worked today, it was in the low 80's and beautiful! Thankfully I am good with gift cards too. So if he doesn't know what to get me, I'll still get something I want. We are usually traveling around my birthday and I just tell him I'll buy something on our trip for myself. Last year we were in the Florida Keys and we went to an animal park that pretty fun. My son was with us and he wanted to go to the Turtle Hospital for his birthday. Kind of nice doing experiences for your birthday.

Today in Pittsburgh we are supposed to have a high of 89 with a high tomorrow of 83. Then we will have a cool down but I don't think we're expecting any snow.
Sorry your birthday plans were snowed on. Hopefully you have a fun day anyway and kudos to your DH for being so thoughtful.

We are in the high 90s, but your cold front will reach us on Saturday and drop the temperatures to a spring like weather. My sister and I plan to pick blackberries on Tuesday. It will be in the 80s--very cool weather for blackberry picking. DH said, "Can it be legal to pick blackberries when it is cool?"

What did you do to piss Mother Nature off? 😆 Sorry your birthday adventure is a bust, particularly because your Dh nailed your gift this year.
I bet my boys are glad to be past that point in their annual Colorado/Utah mountain biking trip. I think they hit Durango today and then to Moab.

I live in MN where the weather is always a topic of conversation. . We actually had no Spring. We went from Winter weather with snow to below zero temperatures when it should have been Spring to Summer weather. It is 60 degrees today with scattered sun. I shudder to think we might get your snow though.

What a GREAT gift, and I hope you get to go soon.
Here in Boston, it's in the 60s today, and supposed to jump to record high May temps this weekend in the mid-90s and humid. It's hard to know what to wear.

What a thoughtful gift and I'm sorry it looks your birthday plans are changing because of weather. We have been yoyoing around here. May Gray is expected this time of year, but when you have to use your windshield wipers, I'm calling the "heavy marine layer" what it really is, a light rain.

It is a balmy 93 here in coastal Georgia.
My youngst daughter is getting married in the Garden of the God’s Labor Day weekend. I am hoping it doesn’t snow kind of. Being from GA snow could make the wedding an interesting event. Memorable, yes that is what we will call it!
Happy Birthday!

That is rough. Your poor DH. But it’s still a great idea! We lived there from 1998-2001 and it’s one of my favorite places that we lived. DD was born there and I met my BFF there. We lived on the Academy it it was really beautiful.
Weather in The Springs can vary so much. Our DS was 18 months when we moved there and it was such a fight with him when he wanted to wear shorts most days. It would be 70 and sunny one day and snowing the next. When DH was at the Academy and had his Ring Dance (1988, last week of May), it snowed when we came out of the ballroom. I can remember running across the Quad freezing in my off the shoulder gown. I know someone else who was snowed in mid October with 2-3 feet of snow and she went into labor. They had to pull her out to a main road and a Humvee took her up to the hospital. They had stopped doing deliveries there, so it was her and a midwife roughing it out. A general surgeon was in the hospital, but not an OB. When I was pregnant with DD the following year, they discussing bringing me down into Colorado Springs just in case I went into labor during the storm, but ultimately kept me in place. However, I was supposed to call if any contractions started. Luckily, DD stayed out for another week. Colleen had them all scared!
