I loved her dearly, and was able to visit her just before she passed. She told me she loves me and she’s proud of me. I was able to tell her how much I love her and how she inspired me in my art, photography, etc. I’m doing my best to comfort dh but this is uncharted territory. Neither of us have lost a parent before this. My sister in law asked me if I want any of her things. She was beautiful and elegant, sassy and vain lol. She has many expensive things but I asked for only one of her beloved and worn Raggedy Ann dolls, the ones she used to sit on little chairs and have Raggedy Ann tea parties with our little girls. I can hardly believe she’s gone. Her husband has dementia and can’t stay along and the house sold instantly, in days! An estate sale will clear their entire life and belongings. Life changes so quickly. 💔

So very sorry for your loss. May you and your family find peace and comfort during the difficult days ahead..
Think again if you, your girls and, particularly, if your DH would looked something of hers.

I'm sorry for your loss. Consider asking for a sweater. I have one of my dad's and whenever I miss him and really need his strength for something happening in my life, I put his sweater on and try to think of what he would say to me. I always feel better for having spent some time with his sweater on.
I wanted one of my mom's sweaters, but knowing that it was all I wanted, my sister got rid of all of them just to be mean. Well, at least she told me she donated all of them to the thrift store in town. I have her bathrobe and several pieces of jewelry that she gave me before she passed so I'm going to use a necklace when I need to feel close to her.

I am so sorry for your loss. And the fact that it must feel like a bit of a pig pile with the recent loss of Dandelion as well. Gentle long hugs are being sent out to you.
I too have been blessed with an abundantly lovely mil, and feel so lucky.

I’m so sorry. I have had a similar experience after my beloved grandparents died within 6 weeks of each other. All of a sudden, 60+ years of life together with and a house full of things and memories was gone. Hugs as you move through this.

I'm so very sorry for your loss. I'm sure that you feel like it's a lot to have your precious Dandelion pass and now your MIL. Sounds like you were close to her and that you had a good relationship. That kind of change where a family member passes and then the house that has been a part of your life for so many years is suddenly gone, is such a shock. I lost my house (divorce), my grandmother's house when she passed, and my parent's house when my dad passed. Those were all houses where we celebrated holidays and occasions for decades. You have all of the special memories of your mother-in-law, and I'm sure you have so many more than what you mentioned here. Hold them close to you and to your DH.
