That's a toughie---I've always loved "Grace", but am far from graceful, so that may not be a good choice, LOL! I've often read on parenting boards that naming a child Grace pretty much guarantees a child who isn't graceful...one of mine has it as a middle name (after a grandma) and yeah...she's a bit of a klutz

I wouldn't change my name. I've always liked it.

I mentioned on the Debbie thread that I didn't like my name when I was a child. I wanted to be a Melinda or a Michelle. My sister got the middle name Michelle, which I was jealous about. My middle name is very old fashioned (after my dad's aunt). I get called all kinds of derivations of the name Megan - Meg, Megs, Meggsy, Meggy, Meeg, Meegie, my ex-MIL always calls me Meegie Mouse. I know that Americans pronounce the name Megan differently than the way we mainly pronounce it here. In Australia it is most often pronounced with a long ee sound, like in the word tee or pee: Mee-gan. When I've heard it pronounced in the US or UK, it tens to be a short e sound, like in 'peg', or a slightly drawn out sound like 'meh'. I don't know what name I would choose if I were to change my name now. I still like Michelle, so maybe that. I wouldn't want to choose something that is trendy now, I'm a 54yo woman for goodness sake! š The only thing I do not like about my name is itās always mispronounced. Seriously how many ways can people find to pronounce Andrea. You need to move to Australia, there is literally only one way to pronounce the name Andrea. Although I've seen enough "how do you pronounce" threads here to know that it's probably completely different to how you pronounce it hahaha!Ā AN-dree-uh I have a cousin who pronounces it Mee-gan not Meh-gan. Everyone else I've ever met is Meh-gan. I'm fine with my name. I have thought it would have been nice to be named Autumn since I was born on the first day of autumn. One of my MIL and SIL's middle names is Rose and younger DD was born in June which is the birth flower. I wished we had used Rose as her middle name. I don't really like naming kids after family members, pressure and favoritism. If you name one do you have to name the other after someone also.

I wanted a name that blended in with my other peers of the 80's/90's. Jessica or Amanda seemed quite popular. I felt like I had an old lady's name.

Yet another Susan. I also had a super common last name, and I just hated it.
The names I would have chosen when I was a kid were along the lines of Valerie, Rosemary,or Elisa.
Iāve grown to like my name, but if I were to change now, Iād probably pick Jane. I love the simplicity, the stability, and Jane Austen.

Iād be Dewryce, which is my middle name. I've always wondered how you pronounce that. Does the "ryce" rhyme with rice, or is it like iris?

All this reminded me about a discovery I made last week. My next-number-neighbour (not next door though, because our houses are numbered oddly) shares my first name, and her surname is my maiden name. We often get mail for them and it's weird seeing my own old name on an envelope that isn't for me. Not only that, but I had tea with another new neighbour, and it turns out she also shares my first 2 names, but goes by her middle name. Our first name is not common but there are 3 of us who share it out of 35 or so houses in our road. As an aside, she and her brother have the same names as her 2 step-children. That must make life pretty complicated. lesserknownpea - if you do change your name, you'll have to come and live on our road and join the club. I love names.

I would keep my name. It's so special because my mom picked it and I'm named after an uncle that passed before I was born but my mom loved.

Iām Marjorie. I hated it when I was young. There were no other Marjorieās in any of my classes. I have grown to appreciate it in my latter years. I donāt like Margie or Marge. I prefer to be called by my full name. I didnāt have a name I would have preferred just something more common.

I changed my name legally in my 30's to Lisa. I didn't really pick the name - my husband (then bf) introduced me as that as a joke and it stuck.

When I was a kid, I went thru a Bambi phase. Also Libby. Now, I think Tess Olivia McKenzie would be cool. People would call me "Tommy", for my initials--- then when meeting me, they'd be surprised that I'm a girl. My grandmother's sister was Johnny. Her name was actually Janet, but when she was a little girl, someone asked her what her name was. She said "Johnny". Nobody knew where that came from, but it stuck. She was Johnny until she died in her 90s.

I never liked my name but there isnāt a name Iād rather have. I was named after my dad.
The other day a little girl at day camp came up to me and asked me my name. I told her and she said p, as only a 4 year old could, āthatās a beautiful name.ā I got misty eyed.
