I love fire, but hate smoke. I love being outside, but hate mosquitoes.
Do you have one? If so, what kind? How often do you use it?

I love fire pits. I don't love smelling like smoke, but it is a tradeoff.
When we had our patio done in 2020, we included a built in fire pit. We debated on gas or wood. We went with wood. I love the smell of wood burning.
We used it a ton during Covid. It was our entertainment. We use it the most during the fall. Summer gets hot, though, we have had 3 fire pits since summer began. We only do them on the weekend.

I love fire, so I love fire pits. I take a shower when I come in after I've been around a fire.
We have a gas one because I'm a start and finish type fire watcher and I don't always want to stay until the fire is out

We bought a firepit several years ago, set it up in the yard and never used it. Realized we didn't like being outside and the bugs.
Last year we had our deck replaced and got a gas firepit that sits inside a screened in gazebo on the deck. Now we are firepit people.

Doesn't the smoke keep the bugs away? We always used to light "smudge pots" to keep the skeeters away and thought it worked...

I want a propane fire table. Our besties have one and I love sitting out with them.
We have a wood burning thing that is messy and not great for sitting around, so it is shoved in a corner of the yard right now.
Thankfully, mosquitos and bugs are not an issue for us.

I love fire pits… it’s been a huge part of my entire life. The house we live in now is the first one where we can’t have an open fire, and it’s understandable… I’m in the middle of the forest.
I bought a Solo Stove a few months ago for DH. It’s supposedly smoke free, but that hasn’t been our experience so far. 🥴
I don’t like propane fires, personally… wood-burning all the way!

We bought a gas firepit at Home Depot a few years back. I love it. I like that it's easy, want to sit outside for half an hour, no big deal. No lighting or waiting for it to be out.

We have a fire pit. I don't like it. I despise smoke in my face and it's always following me. So, I don't usually go out when it's being used. I know, I'm a party pooper. I will go out if we have friends over and are making s'mores or that sort of thing but I really don't enjoy it.

We have on and I love it. We technically aren't supposed to have one unless it is being used to cook, so we always have marshmallows near by lol Ok with the kiddo! We typically only use it when we are trimming trees though. We just trimmed a huge oak, so we have a ton of wood that is drying out for fires

I like the idea, but not the smoke. I've been thinking about getting one of the propane ones!

I bought a Solo Stove a few months ago for DH. It’s supposedly smoke free, but that hasn’t been our experience so far. 🥴 We own one (bought during Covid) and love it! The smokeless feature is a bit of a misnomer because it is not 100% smoke free but darn close. Two things we have found to be important are ensuring it is set up in a way for the airflow to be correct, and using really dry wood. Once it gets going, the smoke should dissipate for the most part

We have one that’s sitting out in our backyard rusting away. We thought we would like it and use it because we have so many branches and twigs in the backyard. Unfortunately, our yard, although tiny, is over 3/4 trees. There really isn’t a safe place to use it without setting the whole lot on fire. Besides, the few times that we did use it, I could not stand the smoke smell. I hate it when our neighbors use theirs because our houses are so close together if there’s a window open the smell permeates my house.

We love a wood burning fire but I hate the smoke blowing in my direction so we had a proper fireplace put in the backyard. Smoke goes up the chimney, problem solved!

Mosquitoes and the neighbor's pit bull keep me from enjoying our fire pit. 🙁

I love a wood fire if I’m camping. But not on my patio when I’m home. My house also backs up to woods and it would make me nervous if the fire wasn’t 100% out when we were ready to be done with it for the night. I feel like the time investment for a fire is more challenging than cleaning up after one.

I hate them. My next door neighbor has one right by my fence and eveytime they lit it I had to run through my house shutting windows to keep the smoke out. Thankfully they moved this year and the new neighbors who moved in have never lit it!

I don’t care for them. When we have fires at the beach or when we go camping, I don’t like the smoke and how you smell like the smoke afterwards. SO likes them. He would like one in our backyard. I haven’t said no, but he hasn’t bought one yet. He is happy right now with his fancy BBQ. 😆

I like the idea of a fire pit but no...wood smoke is an asthma trigger for me, mosquitos love me, and I live somewhere that's only rarely cold enough for a fire

We had a portable one at our old house snd a built in one here. We used it a lot when we first moved but can only use when there isn’t wind as we live on a canyon. With wild fire danger we are extremely careful. We shower after we use it as we like the fire but not smelling afterwards. We still have some wood left from the previous owners after almost 8 years.

We just have a small one on our back patio. Like you.. I love it but I have to immediately take a shower cause of the smoke. Mine is one of those round ones from Lowe's or Home Depot.. just a cheapie.
We actually haven't used it much lately.. it's SOOOO dry here that it is silly to take that risk.

I bought myself a Solo Stove for Christmas and we’ve used it 4 times in the past 2 weeks. I LOVE it. Keep the wood below the top of the stove and it’s pretty much smokeless, unless there is a lot of wind. I love that we can sit all around it on our patio instead of on just one side if it was a regular fire pit.

I love the social aspect of a fire pit, but I always end up sitting in the spot that seems to get all the smoke. My enjoyment of them is very short-lived.

I Love a fire pit. I have a gas one because the wood one was not an option. I have a townhome with a small yard, so we were too close to the house to have wood. I have a service that exchanges the tanks on my porch, so I no longer have to deal with going to the store and searching for the guy with the key.

I love to watch fire, and I love the smell of wood smoke (part of why I married a firefighter!), but I don't like the heat of them that much. We don't have a fire pit like you mean, though we do have a huge burn pit (I don't know - maybe 20 feet across?) that we burn off every other year or so. I wish we did more often, but perfectly still (but not blistering hot) days are rare, so we don't. We plumbed a spot for a gas fire pit when we built the house 15 years ago but haven't ever put one in.
