When we were newly married my DH bought a Kirby vacuum from a door to door salesman when I was working. It was very expensive and I was very upset. Fast forward 27 years later and it is the only vacuum we have ever had. It has cleaned up after 3 boys and numerous pets. It is heavy, ugly, big and complicated but it still going strong and sucks up anything in its path.

Central Airconditioning! I don't do heat well at all, so it has been a blessing.

A bike riding lesson for my 8 year old. I’m am too old to be chasing after him and trying to catch him before he fell (tried 2 years ago and it ended with a crash into the bushes and him telling me he would never trust me again 😆) He took the class a week ago through REI. Best money spent! I find being an older parent, I need to outsource things like this.

My Garmin Varia radar tail light for my bikes. It detects cars approaching you from behind, starts beeping and shows them on your bike computer so you can see them as they approach.
Other than that, my bikes. I love a good bike.

My La-Z-Boy love seat. Full leather. Perfect for me since recovering from surgery. I even sleep on them, so comfy. I have had original La-Z-Boy furniture my entire life and I've had these loveseats for over 10 years. Still going strong.
My little Tykes wagon that I got at a yard sale 14 years ago. I bought it for my dgs when he was a babe and now that I live in a highrise condo, it is essential to bring groceries and other items to and from my unit. I can stack things high and it is so durable. Much better than those thin wire grocery wagons. Everyone in the building knows mine is the blue one. I also use it to hold the hot dinners that my ds picks up regularly. I use the low rise cartons (from soap or soda) to fit the 9x13" pan in and there is also more room to put dessert and other stuff. "Meals on Wheels" is the on-going joke when my friends see me hauling food to the front entrance.

The 1999 Honda Civic LX we bought new that I am still driving to this day. I love my car! It's stick shift (which I prefer), has wish-bone suspension, and is such fun to drive. It's got 120,000 miles on it, and has only left me stranded once and that was at a gas station near my house (can't remember what went wrong with it at the time, but it wasn't anything serious). That car is now 23 years old!
My first designer bag-a gorgeous navy blue leather hobo bag from Furla (an Italian designer) that I bought from Ebay listed as a new without tags for less than half the price of a new version-it was under $200.00. New was about $495.00-way too rich for my blood! Anyway it arrived and it looked brand new. I loved the style of the bag and have been using it every since and this was years ago! It still looks brand new! I liked the style so much I looked for another just like it and found one in black so I scooped it up. Haven't felt the need to buy any other bags since then. Before this I was paying around $100.00 year for a new handbag from QVC every year.
My Ikea desk system which I bought in 2001 back when they had a very nice office inventory and the pieces to go with it like 4 bookshelves, a round conference table and a cabinet. It was called Effektiv Office System and the desk pieces were all modular so that you could fit various pieces together to form a desk. I ended up with half of a finished basement to use as a scrap area so I put together a desk with 4 pieces and it is huge. I adore my desk to this day.

Probably 18 years ago, we spent what was A LOT of money on a DeLonghi Magnifica espresso machine. While our oldest was warming up with his soccer team for a game, we ran to Starbucks for coffee. The machine was on sale but still way more than we would have spent on an espresso machine at that time. We made sure it went to the coffee repair place for yearly tune ups and cleaning. It's still going strong and still makes the best shots of coffee with smooth crema. Recently, the digital display panel has been on the blink, but it's still pumping out delicious shots! Totally the best money we've ever spent on a thing.

I just bought a new iPad when the new models came out. It’s pretty much glued to my hand. I love my new iPhone too, but since my son bought it for me, I don’t count that as a purchase.

My iPad. If it takes a dump, I'd go to the store immediately and get a new one.

Headlamp to wear when I cut the cats' nails. That thing is So bright, and the light is always right where I need it because it's pointed where i'm looking. Not to mention the essential freeing up of my other hand. I told DH I wanted one for Christmas last year, and he got it for me, but he was pretty skeptical. It's been amazing. Of course now the cats aee me put it on and go slinking out of the room, but I can usually fool them by puttign it on in advance. I quickly read your post and misread it as to wear when you cut cattails. I couldn’t figure out why you had to cut them in the dark. 😄 I bet a headlamp does help with the nail cutting job, though. Well given the number of typos I made I'm surprised I didn't say cattails!

My Global knives.
My Apple products. I am a junkie.
My WW juicer.
All our Hondas, especially my van I no longer have. Hopefully, I will say the same about my Mazda CX5. I have only had it 2 years. But I love it. Just took in on a 3600 road trip.

My iPad. I’ve had it about 4 years and use it every single day, including reading books on the Kindle app. My soaking tub that we put in when we remodeled in 2020. It does wonders for my tired old bones.

My 2003 Escape. It gave me 19 years of problem free transportation. DH decided to have the repair made and it has been transferred to the Boy.
The 2021 CRV that replaced the Escape. Paid way to much for it thanks to circumstances when it was purchased. Stupid COVID! I am so happy with it that paying the car payment every month doesn’t bother me in the least.
The coffee grinder purchased as a Christmas gift for the Boy. It is used daily.
The Miele C3 vacuum cleaner…I love, love, love it! So happy my husband talked me into buying it.
Both KitchenAid dishwashers. The first one was the keystone to my housekeeping for 25 years. I loathed to part with it. The 2nd has been awesome, too. Though, the 2 hour wash cycle took some getting used to.
The Dooney & Bourke purses and Freebird shoes/boots. And, the Holo Taco nail polish. These just make me incredibly happy.

I recently bought a pair of Hoka shoes to wear when I hike. They are the most expensive shoes I've ever bought, and they are AMAZING. Sooooo comfortable. I love them, and don't regret one penny of the money I spent on them. DH got a pair and LOVES them! I was looking at getting a pair too, but got stuck on the price tag. Maybe I’ll rethink it 😆

What a fun topic Aunt Kelley. My item is my diamond ring which I received from DH last October as we celebrated our 60th wedding anniversary. He told me to get what I wanted, and I did!!! The 60 year anniversary is the diamond anniversary, and I had admired this brand of diamonds for years, never dreaming that I would have one. It came special order from Whiteflash Jewelry in Houston, and the stones are ideal cut and represent not only our life together, but also our three children. I still get a thrill every day from wearing it.

Sunday Basket from Organize 365 TELL ME MORE! I'm so tempted by this, but I've spent a shameful amount of $ on books and programs to get organized, and I still haven't "arrived" yet... It sounds like a great system, and I was a faithful listener to the Organize 365 podcast for awhile. It's worth it? Should I do it?

Our lake house. It was an impulse buy during the first Covid shutdowns before the housing market went crazy. We love it out there so much that we are moving out there when DD goes off to college in a few weeks. Major downsize in progress but looking forward to lake living full time!

My Cutco knives. Another kitchen item that I couldn’t do without. I bought the entire set when I got my first job making $350 a month (1970). So my knives are 52 years old and still going strong! They cost $115 and I paid $5 a month until they were paid off. They also came with a set of steak knives and a bunch of kitchen tools such as a spatula, pancake turner, slotted/unslotted big spoon, whisk, etc. And a set of dishes ~ service for 4. Now that we're pretty much retired, the best thing we've bought for ourselves is travel. We've been to Spain (2018), Italy (2019), Ireland (2022) and will go to Croatia/Slovenia and back to Italy for a week this September.

After reading through the replies I feel that I have to add to my previous comment (which was to nominate my Instant Pot). I want to add:
-- The switch to Apple. Worth every extra penny.
-- Honda vehicles. They just go and go and go and go... I keep asking our Honda dealer if we're nearing the end of ds's Pilot and he says "oh no, not yet, this one is still in excellent condition". lol

My Lexus RX. Cost twice as much as any car I ever had before, but it’s over 15 years old now, runs great, and I love it just as much as ever. I may keep it till it dies or I do, whichever comes first …
