Maternal were Daphne and Charles Arnel Paternal were James(Jim) Wilbur and Rilda Luella (Luella) they named my dad James Thad and called him Thad and so did most of his friends. Other teachers called him Jim but his siblings and a lot of my cousins called him Pinky so depending on what name he was called by we kids knew exactly who was friend, family or if it was stupid work call.

Dad (Allan) Parents: Holger Peter Thorvald (Danish) and his parents were Christian and Bertha Bodil Sofie Kirstine (Danish) and her parents were Jens Peter and Dorthea Bolette
Dad's sibling: Paul, Vera, Frank, Helen and Paul. It is interesting that even though my grandparents had 2 middles names, none of their children had any middle name.
Mom (Betty Ethel Agnes and hated her name) and her Parents: Francis Michael (Irish Catholic) his parents Michael and Ethel Agnes Sara (did not like this name so called herself Shirley) her parents Nathan Wolf and Bethsheba (Latvian Jews)
Mom's siblings: Francis, Walter, Lorraine, Robert and Frederick. They were all named after my grandfathers aunts and uncles although the names were different. My mother had my grandfather's mothers names as her middle names because his mother died when he was only 2 years old and my mom was the oldest daughter.
My kids are Christian Daniel (after my Danish great grandfather) and Adam Peter (after my grandfather who died).

My grandparents names were Patricia (Pat), Anne (Annie), Robert (Bob) and Richard.
I don’t have kids but some of my nieces and nephews: Rebekah, Charlotte, Thomas, Sam, Olive, Eloise, Desmond.
All seem to be of the more classic variety.

My kids have very traditional names, as do my nieces & nephews, come to think of it. So when they age their names won't seem any different from people who are older now or who were older when I was very young.
A lot of the names of older people in my family are still being given to younger members of the family. I think perhpas the biggest difference is that the older generations often had one name, but went by a nickname, whole the younger generation is more likely to just be named the nickname.
So we had Rosemarys & Margarets who went by Rose & Maggie, while now, some babies are just named Rose or maggie. Or Johns and Maximillians who went by Jack & Max, & now babies who are just named Jack or max.

Olive Harriet, James Abraham, Vernal Lars and the worst Elva Clorra. We have several family members named James and a couple of Harriets, my Dad’s and my older brother’s initials are the same as my paternal grandfather. We even have a dog named Olive LOL! No one has even come close the naming a child Elva.

My grandparents were
Paternal: Mary Jean and Lysle Paschal (Their siblings all had/have great names too - Gladys & Adeline/Erma, Jean and Doris) Maternal: Charlotte Joane and Chester Creighton (only boring sibling names for these ones!)
The great grandparents that I knew were Edith/Roger, Grace/John/Brian, Gertrude/Roscoe.
My daughter is Grace. If I'd had a second son, he would have been Calvin Lysle.

interesting! I've never seen this name before- is it pronounced like Lyle? some of my relatives another generation or two back had very German names- Valentine (a man's name that I think is great), August, Augusta, etc. And very Swedish names- Karl, etc.

I've seen other men who have spelled it this way. It was a named used frequently throughout his family history - they were from Alsace-Lorraine. What's interesting about his name is that his family had a tradition going back into the 1500s (that's as far as I looked) where the eldest sons were given names that started with LP then JL then LB then JL then LP etc. etc. So this tradition lasted for over 500 years until my cousin (LB) & his wife at the time decided they didn't want to continue it. It made my grandpa sad that the tradition ended but he never made a big deal about it.

Paternal: Ralph and Alice (I kid you not!!) I love it! not my family, but my older brother's best friend growing up, his parents names are Laverne (man's name) and Shirley. Their names never seemed weird to me growing up, but... I guess if all someone knew was the TV show, it would be funny.

Grandparens: Eva/James and Carrie/Raymond Parents: Ruth and William Kids: Rachel and Daniel Ruth definitely sounds old-fashioned to me. I don't think I've known anyone else with that name. Eva is an older one also but recently a family friend named her daughter that. And just today, I came across a woman in her 40's or so with that name. My mom is Ruth. She hates the name.
