I need to wear my if badge but would like it on a retractable cord as it is also my door key. But I hate having anything pull on my neck. I have a holder that has like a slide on clip on the back but looking for another option. Some of my clothing options aren’t great with a clip- like right at my neck with some dresses you know? I teach kindergarten so that gives you an idea! I guess ideally I’d like a magnetic piece as I used to do for just my I’d badge but now that it is also my key I am struggling. Ideas?

I bought these (the black 2 pack with no lanyard). My badge itself is threaded in the plastic snap part and that is the part that pulls and retracts. I initially used the carabiner bit at the top to clip it on my waistband but it was harder to use if my hands were full. The lanyards I tried were all too short. I pulled out a longer fashion necklace with all circular links that is working well for me. I clipped the carabiner end to one of the links. The snap piece is free to pull and retract. Sometimes I will take the regular paperclippy part and slide it on my neckline. It keeps the badge on me (I sometimes will lose it if I take the necklace off and set it down) but it is hanging off to the side and out of the way. If I just wear the necklace down/loose like a lanyard then it smooshes into my stomach when I'm at my desk and gets in the way if I'm typing at the computer.

The male teachers just put the clip on them and take it off when needed.
I wear the lanyard with the ID and like 6 keys. This year I think it will be the ID and maybe a cabinet key.

And I do put it on my waist band if I’m wearing pants but with like a shift dress the only place is at my neck.

dexter, how about something like this? Eyeglass holderI googled magnetic eyeglass holder. This is just one of the first results as an example. You could clip the carabiner to the loop.

I have the kind with the clip and a retractable cord. I’d love a good solution for dress days as well - usually I just end up carrying it in my hand when I leave my room.
ETA, the magnetic ones on Etsy looked cute so I went ahead and ordered one. Thanks for the suggestion!

I use a decent sized safety pin. I put the pin where ever I want the clip to be then clip the reel to the pin.

I used to wear a magnetic badge holder, but my body temp would melt the adhesive after a while and it would fall off. one magnet fit in my badge holder and the other you put under your top with the fabric between the two magnets. I don’t wear a lanyard as I hate the way it bounces (large breasts) and it catches on my desk edge when I sit. My badge holder is clear plastic with my license and name tag. I clip it to my shoulder seam so necklines don’t matter. My swipe card for doors is on a retractable leash attached to my badge holder so I don’t have to fish it out.

What about something with a strong magnet attached to a pin that could be pinned to clothing? Then have the badge holder clipped to something the magnet will stick to.

I cannot have anything more than a necklace hanging from my neck. I clipped my id on my clothing for awhile but it just didn't work. Now I have my id and keys on my lanyard and take it when I leave my room done our doors are locked. No one seems to have a problem with it. Most people do this.

My very first year (24 years ago) I bought a length (I think 48" or so? It hangs to about my belly button level with the keys/id/knot/keyring) of plumbers ball chain to use as a key/ID holder lanyard around my neck. It's still going strong all these years later. I have UV color changing beads on it to make it fun and did an overhand knot at the bottom to hold a split key ring that I thread all my keys and ID holder onto. Just bought black leather ID holders on Amazon and hope they'll last until I retire in 12-16 years.

I have a Brighton Badge Clip. I think of it as jewelry like. For dresses I clip to my shoulder seam rather than my neckline.

Good idea, thanks. I still don’t think I’d want it touching my neck lol!
