I am sitting at Safelite waiting for my windshield to be replaced and trying to amuse myself. 😄
Is your name an uncommon name but not unique? The highest my name has been on the top female baby list is 154 in the 50’s. It didn’t make it onto the top 1000 until the 1930s. I was born in 1964 and think it was ranked in the high two hundreds then. Since then it has never really gone above that I don’t think. Is your name uncommon but not unique or was it one of the top 10 in the year that you were born? I always wanted a name that you could find on pencils or any of those little knickknacks that you got as a kid, but very rarely would you see it.
The top 10 for 1964 (from 1 to 10) was Lisa, Mary, Susan, Karen, Patricia, Kimberly, Donna, Linda, Cynthia, and Tammy.

I was born in 64! My full name is Cynthia! but my parents always called me Cindy. So I would be common for my time, but not many Cindys nowadays.

Born in the early 1960's and my name is Linda. Extremely common in that year. There were 5 other Linda's in my graduating class. I never cared that it was common.

My name with a different spellimg was fairly common, but moreso before I was born. I rarely run into anyone with my spelling amd if I do, they are typically 5 plus years older than I am.

My name was the 14th most popular girl's name in 1968. When I was little I thought it was an old lady name because the only Chris I knew was an old lady. But once I started school, there were anywhere from 2-4 Christines or close to it (Kristine, Christina, Cristina, etc).

I think mine, Laurie, was somewhat common in the 70's, and perhaps late 60's/early 80's, but not so much with my spelling. Lori was more common. I always wished my parents had spelled it that way.
I don't think either version has been used much at all since.

My name is a nickname of a longer name. In 1957 my version was #158. In 2021 it didn’t even make the top 1,000.

My name is Virginia, but I go by Ginny. If those popular name lists went back to the early 1800s, Virginia probably would have been high on the list, but it was not very popular when I was born in 1960. I used to hate my name, but it's kind of grown on me as I've aged. (I always thought it was an old lady name when I was young, and I guess I've proved myself right since I hated it when I was young, but like it now that I'm old. )

Well, I don't find much on my name other than it can mean to talk rapidly which I do very well. I did find this: "Between 1980 and 2019 there were 1 birth of Patter in the countries below, which represents an average of 0 birth of children bearing the first name Patter per year on average throughout this period. On the last available year for each country, we count 0 birth. More details here : www.popular-babynames.com/name/patter"

My name hasn't broke the top 10 since the 60's and didn't even make the top 25 in the year I was born. I have only met two other people with my name that are younger than me. The rest all were older. I did come across a birth announcement that was shared where the new grandbaby was named after their great-grandma who has the same name as me. I feel like my name is heading into the dated names like Vera or Rosemary.
One kid has a common male name. It's in the top 10 constantly. The other is not in the top 10 much but it is in the top 25.

My name is super common and I hate it.
My goal was to give my kids names unique enough they couldn’t find them on the personalized keychain rack 🤣
My DH has really awful initials, so it was important to him that our kids have cool initials.

We all have common/classic names but we compensate with a hard to pronounce and spell family name

My name was common for my time of birth, but would be uncommon for a newborn today. Sometimes when I see new parents agonizing over finding a name for their child that isn't "overused", I think "Just name them something popular when you were born, or when your parents were born."

My name was not common enough that I ever had to go by my last initial growing up, like all of the Sarahs and Jessicas. But common enough that people know how to spell it correctly and I’ll meet someone around my age with my name every now and then.
My son’s name was not super popular when I first decided on using it someday, but as the years go on it gets more and more popular. I chose his name because it is short, easy to pronounce, and spell. Not because it was super unique.

I was born in the early 60s and was always one of 4 or 5 in my class with my name. It is far less common now. My older DS has a fairly common but classic name - I went to school with guys with his name, and new baby boys are still being given the name. Younger DS has a less common name, but again a classic. My older granddaughter’s name was top 10 the year she was born and is still very popular. Younger granddaughter has a less common name, and her pronunciation of it is also the less common, I think.

my name is "common" but there are. many ways to spell it so I have to spell it every time. then, I pronounce my name the family way and almost no one gets it right or remembers it.
I had to spell. my maiden name--son or sen ending? then my married name I have to spell as it is two common short words put together with an extra t on the end. very uncommon name.
so my entire life I have. had to spell and say my name over and over and over,
all three of my kids have spellable common names. except gwen. she mostly mets old asian or black women with her name. I was going to go with gwennan, after a cousin, but it did not go with last name.

My mother's family tended to use the same two names, George for a male and Muriel for a female, going back several generations. I had several aunts, uncles, and cousins all with the same names which got quite confusing. Fortunately Mom only had one brother so the rest of the Georges and Muriels had different last names from each other. I am so thankful that my mother chose not to follow that tradition. Her older sister (as well as my grandmother) was named Muriel and when I was born, they were not getting along so I think that played in my favor, thankfully.

I was born Julie in 1966. I used to fiercely hate it. Now it just is.
Julie has perpetually been one of the most popular female names used in the United States. According to the United States' Social Security Administration, Julie was consistently in the top one-hundred registered female names in the forty years between 1951 and 1991; peaking at #10 in 1971.
One of my daughter’s best friends is Julie. She’s 20. I can’t believe it would ever be very popular again though.

My maiden name was a common one so my parents chose classic names which had never been fashionable, for me and my brother. Growing up, there was one other girl in my school with my name and she didn't spell it the same way. I hardly ever met others with my name.
10 years ago the short version which I go by became quite popular as a baby name.
Now for some reason there are 4 other women in church with my name, all different ages, not to mention the children. Makes things complicated...

#10 in 1967 #4 in 1968 #3 in 1969 #1 in 1970 #1 in 1971 (My year but I was born Jan 1 so I kind of fall in 1970) #1 in 1972 #1 in 1973 #1 in 1974
It didn't fall out of the #1 spot until 1980 when it fell to #2. But popped back to #1 in 1982.

My name has never been on any list, nor do I think it will ever be. It is a made up name combining my parents names, both of which are common. I always have to spell it. I always have to say it several times. I always get questions about it. But I quite like it, and always have.

I had no idea my name was so popular back in the day! I knew it was not uncommon, but the rankings surprised me. So, Susan was #8 in the year I was born - 1947 - and still on there at #3 in 1964. It stays for a few years and then drops off the top 50 list. I've never really liked it and am usually called Sue. It's only now, in my later years, that I am more comfortable with it. Weird, huh?
Other fun facts - One of my DGDs named her cat Susan. She says it's because she loves me so much and she likes my name.
My brother's first wife was also a Susan, so when she married him, she had my maiden name!
Girls I grew up with who are my age were named Diane, Nancy, Rosemary, Karen, Roberta, Marilyn, Betty Ann and Ethel [she changed her name when she was a teenager and refused to answer to Ethel, even with her parents!]

My name as it is spelled (Ryann) is not ranked for the year I was born, but it is ranked 368 for the "traditional" spelling (Ryan).
The most popular year for my spelling was in 2006, with 408 births. The likelihood is that most, if not all, of these are pronounced "Ry-ann" and not like mine, "Ry-en".
When my name is mispronounced as it often is, I correct the person and joke that the "second N is silent". I've always liked my name, even as a kid.
My two BFFs are Kristie (10 years older) and Jennifer (same age).
