What an utter debacle. I have been so happy in my little Twitter universe of smart, funny, passionate people. Right up there with my Peas! I hope it will stay together but it’s not looking good.

He’s brilliant, bold, and lacking a necessary level of social emotional IQ.

He’s brilliant, bold, and lacking a necessary level of social emotional IQ. Is he Autistic? I know I have seen rumors that he is but nothing ever for certain? Seems like his impulse control and lack of social pragmatics and whatnot got the best of him here. I don't want someone to save his ass but they can come in and fix everything and help the employees.

"The people have spoken. Trump will be reinstated. Vox Populi, Vox Dei," Musk tweeted, which is a Latin phrase that means "the voice of the people, the voice of God."
Trump's account was reinstated after Musk posted an online poll asking users on Twitter if he should unban the former president. Trump himself posted on his own social media platform urging his supporters to vote for him in the poll, which he ultimately won.
The final result was 51.8% of users voting yes and 48.2% voting no.
It appears Trump's follower count was reset and it is unclear if they will be added back.
Trump said earlier Saturday that he would not return to Twitter if reinstated when asked about Musk's recent poll about his banned account.
"Truth Social is through the roof, it's doing phenomenally well," Trump said of his own fledgling social media company. "And I'll be staying there."

I deleted my account today. The more people who leave, the more advertisers bail, the more likely it is to go under.

I deleted my account today. The more people who leave, the more advertisers bail, the more likely it is to go under. Why would you want twitter to go under? Seriously why? Its not like trump wasn’t on twitter before or that a lot of his followers remained on twitter and posted the same crap he did. Like this guy. But did you consider this? I live in wildfire country and anyone who does can appreciate how fast a fire can move once it’s started. During wildfire season there is a network of sites that post about fires as soon as smoke is sighted and in many cases before first responders even arrive. It gives one a heads up about what might be heading their way. And it’s not just fires.. From the Washington Post… LOS ANGELES — Kate Hutton was watching a Dodgers game one Friday night when she saw something strange in the outfield: The foul poles swayed, her TV feed trembled. The city emergency management coordinator knew immediately what was afoot, and she knew L.A.'s 4 million residents would have questions. So she tweeted. Within 10 minutes, Hutton had fired off three posts from the official Los Angeles Emergency Management Department Twitter account, confirming the 7.1 magnitude quake and reminding people how to prepare. “I’ve joked that my muscle memory is not going to be, ‘Drop, cover, hold on,’” Hutton said, referring to the earthquake readiness mantra ubiquitous on the West Coast. “It’s going to be, ‘Grab phone, tweet.’” Hutton, who left the agency in 2020, is among the legion of government personnel, public safety officers and professional disaster communicators who reach for Twitter, where tens of millions of Americans maintain accounts, during a crisis. Public agencies use the platform to issue evacuation orders, warn of active shooters, dispel misinformation and direct residents away from road closures or toward shelters. During disasters, stranded civilians use the app to call for help, evacuees use it to check on their homes and journalists use it to gather news.”

I was on the fence about deleting my account (I only started one because I write, I never posted) but it has been deleted.
I have no interest in Tik Tok, so I'll stick with Instragram for my book/writing stuff, and Facebook for keeping in touch with people I know (no strangers on there.)

I may not be a fan of Musk but hoping it survives and things get better. I’m hoping the voice of sanity from somewhere intervenes. Without the information people may die because they didn’t get the information in a timely manner. Wildfires move incredibly fast. We don’t have local radio or news stations so rely on stations in nearby cities and it can be hours behind if they even cover it they don’t cover it until it’s huge and thousands have been evacuated to squally so far from good info. I feel for the employees but still hoping it survives despite Musk.

So you are one of those who is willing to throw out the baby with the bathwater. In case you are not sure what that means. “Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater" is an idiomatic expression for an avoidable error in which something good or of value is eliminated when trying to get rid of something unwanted.” There is no question Musk shouldn’t have treated the Twitter employees like he did. Which is odd since he owns both Tesla and SpaceX two successful companies. But a functioning Twitter is needed so we will disagree on whether it should go under or not.

For those who think twitter should fail here are two examples of why a social platform like twitter is needed..
To complete the story this gentleman was found.
This tweet was posted a couple of times today. It was this area where two of the most destructive fires burned through. In 2017 a fire took out 5,000 homes in the northern part of Santa Rosa. In 2020 another fire raced through this area and took out two neighborhoods in the north east part of Santa Rosa. So one could understand why people might get a little nervous if they smell or see smoke in this area.
So if twitter dies, and it might, which social media platform can pick up the slack and get information “out there” where it’s needed as quickly as twitter can?

Perhaps some form of functioning social media is needed, it doesn’t have to be Twitter. Someone else can build a platform. Of course, you’ll have a hard time finding anything to post here when you can’t just copy and paste tweets all day 🤣 but the rest of us would be fine without it.

I too wondered what she'll have to post about. For her sake I hope it stays afloat, I guess. I don't have Twitter or care about Twitter in the least. I guess I don't have a burning need to know everything all the time as it's happening.
