I need to clean out our drinkware cabinet but we each like to drink from a different thing and, frankly, it’s annoying.
I use insulated plastic cups (I hate water rings) Dh likes mason jars Ods uses actual glass drinkware Yds uses plastic Tupperware cups
We also have mugs (both coffee and tea) I take a 32oz yeti to work everyday and we have several of those (dh & ds use them on occasion) We have an assortment of smaller yetis We have shaker bottles for protein mixes and overnight oats
And that doesn’t even include our barware which is in the family room.
Are we the only family with all this drinkware?

You are definitely not alone!
I have large coffee mugs for coffee, smaller mugs for tea, large and small travel mugs for coffee & tea, large drinking glasses, juice glasses, drinking glasses with lids and straws for iced coffee or for use in my craft area, wine glasses, and multiple sports bottles for my grandson for hockey. They fill an entire cabinet.

I use a 32 oz (purple) Yeti during the day. Then we have a large set of glasses in 2 sizes from a restaurant supply store. Half a dozen Fiesta mugs, a couple of Yetis for DH, and an assorted collection of sports water bottles for his bike. So it’s not just you! ETA: And a few lifefactory glass water bottles.

I use a Yeti for my water, a mug for hot drinks, and a Tervis Tumbler for everything else.

We are plastic cup people. We keep the plastic cups from places we eat at and use those most of the time.
We have coffee cups, wine glasses, bar ware as well.
We have a 6 pack of actual glass wear that we bring out when we have guests. Other than that they don't get used.

At home? Generally always real glass for me. I like a thin glass rim to sip from. I’m not a straw person. (I do use an insulated tumbler with a straw when leaving the house for practically and plastic glasses out by the pool for the same reason.)
My husband clings to a large old red plastic Coke glass like the kind they use to have at Pizza Hut. He’ll even bring it to a fancily set table!

it depends, lol
For my water, I have plastic cups - 26 oz from Walmart. DH has a handful of different cups for water - a plastic with a lid he's had for years, several different insulated ones. DD has some smaller plastic cups and a bunch of water bottles.
At dinner we use glasses - I have two sizes 10 oz and 20oz
We have WAY TOO MANY mugs and tea cups - but everyone has their favourites and apparently they are all well-loved and special and have to stay.
But yes - I have an entire cabinet (3 shelves) with glasses, plastic cups, and water bottles and another shelf and a half of tea cups and mugs

I recently thought to myself that I need to sort through my drinkware and pare down. We use the same things over and over again so it makes no sense to keep valuable space for things that we never use.
What I decided is that I use plastic Tupperware cups for drinking water, Gatorade, and pop. I like all these things over ice so I never drink out of bottles. I have one custom designed travel coffee mug that I use all the time when I take coffee on the go. I have several different ones but I use the same one exclusively. Jeremy has a custom one too (Kurt Busch design) that he uses to drink out of. So that one needs to stay. I have a variety of wineglasses. And there is really one set that I use exclusively so the others need to go. I love my fiesta big mugs for coffee. So they can stay and I have one regular mug when I am making tea.
Your post has inspired me to clean out the things I don't need anymore. Can I take the extras to goodwill?

We used to use regular tall glasses for drinking until our cat deliberately knocked over my DH’s glass of iced tea onto his work laptop. Thank goodness he drinks unsweetened tea and the laptop was fine after drying out. Now we only use Tervis cups with lids for cold drinks unless we have guests.
DH uses a regular coffee mug for coffee and I have 2 corckcycle mugs with lids that I switch out. We each have a larger corkcycle cup for travel coffee. DH has a few scotch glasses and I keep wineglasses in our sideboard since we rarely have wine. The only other glassware are beer glasses, kept chilling on the freezer doors. So we’ve got our drink ware pared down.

Can I take the extras to goodwill? I volunteer at a local charity thrift that supports our non-profit hospice organization. Believe me, we get tons of drinkware. Tons.

At home, a Coca-Cola drinking glass usually. Sometimes I will use a Yeti.
For work, I take a large Yeti mug or Tervis tumbler. I have a ridiculous amount of Tervis mugs.
Then there are the coffee and tea mugs. We all have different ones we like. I need to take some of the ones that don’t get used out of the cabinet.

I cleared out 99% of my mugs a few years ago. I kept just a few.
DH has a mug he uses for his coffee. I have a china cup for my hot tea. I also have mugs made from china as I like the "thin" china feel vs the thickness of a mug.

20 oz dark green Yeti is my go-to for most cold drinks, Yeti coffee cup w/handle for am tea, or one of four favorite ceramic mugs. Hate plastic and rarely use it. Yeti wine cup for wine. I scoffed at the Yeti propaganda ‘til I got one, now I love them.
Dh likes a huge yellow plastic cup from a local BBQ place for ice water, uses a regular glass tumbler for everything else. Dh doesn’t use any kind of insulated cup and laughs at me for my use of what he calls my “sippy cups.” I tell him he doesn’t know what he’s missing - but he did buy me a purple insulated cup for my car.

I’m in the same boat, OP. My daughters usually grab insulated tumblers or use their water bottles, I like a big mason jar (I swear water tastes better out of a mason jar) or a big Tervis tumbler, and my husband likes stadium cups or lightweight plastic cups. Then we have some assorted glasses that are the last ones standing out of their sets. All of those things combine to take up a lot of room in the cabinet.
We do have some nice barware and wine glasses, but we have a cabinet over our wet bar for that stuff.

For water, a chunky plastic tumbler. I feel it's better insulation and does not get condensation on the outside as fast.
For my Diet Coke, I reuse a large styrofoam Big Gulp style cup with the plastic lid and straw. So junky I know. I like to get a big fountain drink with the nugget ice and just replace it every 2 days or so. I refill with crushed ice from my ice maker but am toying with the idea of getting a nugget ice maker. I wish I was classier, but for around the house, this is how I roll.

I have a Cookie Monster Tervis tumbler that I just had to have, and after I got it DD claimed my old plain one that we got from one of DH’s vendors. That’s pretty much all we use now at home. DH prefers a water bottle that won’t spill when the idiot dog knocks it on the floor with his tail. He also has a small collection of heavy pottery coffee mugs that he likes to drink his coffee from.
Other than that, we have basically a whole cabinet full of other drink ware including Tupperware cups, assorted water bottles, insulated cups with screw on lids that no one likes, many other mugs in assorted sizes (12-20 ounces, although we did shed all the small 8 oz coffee cups before we moved ten years ago), and some 20 ounce plastic cups with handles that DH used to use before he got his water bottle. I’m sure we could lose half of what we have and wouldn’t miss it at all.
ETA: We have no wine glasses, champagne flutes or other traditional bar ware. I think I own two actual glass juice glasses which are only ever used to flatten drop sugar cookies.

I'm a bit of a mug addict and own way too many, I'm loving glass mugs atm as my tea just tastes better in them. I also have a collection of cups and saucers that rarely get used. I did try to declutter them all last year but ended up keeping them all

Everyone has their own Yeti, Tervis, or something similar. If a guest comes, I have something I can give them but we just get our own drinks whatever that may be in our own cups.

For hot tea and coffee I use a yellow Hydro Flask mug with a lid because it keeps my drinks hot. For my all-day-long iced tea guzzling, I use an insulated Contigo bottle because it keeps the drink cold. For sparkling wine, I use either my Waterford flutes, or lately these really pretty rippled coupes from Crate and Barrel. For mixed drinks I use our daily household tumblers which are thickish green hand-blown Mexican glass.

I drink water from some cheap plastic tumblers I picked up on clearance. The rims are starting to get rough so I'm going to look into replacing those this year.
We have regular 12oz glasses and 8oz glasses. DH won't use the plastic cups. I only use the glass ones when we have company or anything that's not water. We also have a variety of bar glasses: pint, tulip, stein, whisky, stemless wine and regular wine, margarita, and a mug for mules. DH kinda wants a martini glass as well. Plus several different mugs for coffee ranging from handmade to regular mugs that are sold everywhere. Despite having about 10 different mugs, we both have our favorite so those two get used the most.
When we moved, we downsized the amount of glassware we had. We got rid of the ones that had logos on them, put the rest in a box to give to one of the kids when they have their own place, and bought a new matching set.

Water is out of my insulated steel KS Chiefs tumbler or studded pink Star Bucks cup with straw.
Coffee and tea is out of a Fiestaware mug.
Dd uses both listed above. Dh uses a big Contigo or Fiestaware mug.
Ds has his Contigo cups.
I have zero glass cups.

I prefer normal glass drinkware. When it's summer I'll often use stainless steel tumblers (Yeti type but various brands) to keep my ice from melting.

We only use Stanley/RTIC/Yeti style cups.
Big, insulated, stay cold for days with straw kind of cups.
We have gotten rid of anything else. We don’t own any plastic cups, mason jars, drinking glasses, etc.

I use a walmart stainless insulated straw cup for water which I pretty much drink all day long. I fill with ice and water in the morning and refill as the day goes along. I have a simple modern 24oz hot cup that I take tea in first thing in the morning.
DH uses glasses unless we're going somewhere, then he takes a huge insulated cup he got at a trap meet. If he wants a hot drink, he takes his 16 oz simple modern hot cup.
DD (11) uses as many glasses as she can during the day in addition to the rubbermaid container she takes to school/gymnastics with water. If she wants a hot drink, she takes her 30 oz simple modern hot/cold cup.
DS (6) uses as many plastic to go cups as he can during the day in addition to his run over hydro flask (my bad) that he takes to school/gymnastics/baseball/soccer.
In the cabinet... For water to go: multiple extra simple modern water bottles with chug lids, a few extra hydroflasks. For tea/coffee/cocoa at home: lots of ceramic mugs For water/juice/milk/milkshakes: glass cups For cocktails/wine/beer: appropriate cups (too many as DH is the only drinker in our house) For Starbucks runs: reusable starbucks style cups with lids/straws
When adults come over, we offer them glass cups. When kids come over, we offer them plastic cups.
Glasses break, oops. Toss in the trash. One day we will have matching glassware.
Apparently drinkware is complicated.
