I thought this year I’d stop fixing the weird autocorrect ones. And just let friends figure out when I intended to say. And it would be a Source of humor.
But some of them are SO wrong that the meaning would be lost
Also, do you do all of the commas and other punctuation?
I regularly type the phrase “ how doin” to my close peeps. I’m a lazy texter.

I find it hard to be sloppy, leave known mistakes, ignore grammar etc - it’s just been too deeply ingrained in me to let it go at my age 😄

I find I try to be to the point but then will over-analyze it and feel I sound too terse or vague or whatever and end up sending 3 more texts just to be sure I'm conveying the proper emotion... And it ends up being a whole thing...
Gotta add smilies too, to be sure I'm not coming across in a negative way. Ugghh

Depends on the person I’m texting with. My brother or DH who are terrible spellers? I don’t bother fixing it, LOL.

Absolutely anal about spelling, grammar and punctuation. Same. It takes me flipping forever to text, sometimes I feel carrier pigeon would be faster 🙄

I hate texting. The phone app on my cell camera works pretty good sometimes and it's a whole lot faster.

I usually follow basic grammar rules, but if I am in a hurry I will send a text where Siri decided I wanted to say something ridiculous. I usually read the sent text and then send a correction quickly if I don't think the recipient will know what I mean.
I use some shortcuts, like b/c or cuz for "because", EP for our two word home town name, or slang like Whatcha doin?

I use full sentences with proper grammar and whole words. I pretty much only drop punctuation with DH and the boys.
DH is like me. DS1 is lazy with one word answers, no punctuation. DS2 has a split personality when he texts. Me or DH get full sentences. His brother gets emojis, gifs, and memes. I've seen his texts to friends and they're letters, emojis, random shortened words, etc.

I have become more lax as I age, but overall I do like a clear message. Receiving really sloppy texts would annoy me. Misplaced or missing commas and autocorrect are no big deal though. My youngest (now adult male) was the worst speller, and grammar rules were meant for others. I proofread every paper he wrote for college with the reasons for the changes in pen (not red- wouldn't want to ruin his self esteem). His first job after college was to write manuals for engineering projects. Hahahaha. One day he texted me that absolutely no one had the decency to use the Oxford comma. That was the day I knew he was my kid.

Mostly neat. I don't obsess over a typo or leaving something uncapitalized that should be as long as it gets the message across.

I am a hot mess because I’m terrible at thumb typing. I just let it be with DH and the kids and they make fun of me endlessly for it.
I hate when clients want to text because I’m so bad at it. I’m the old lady who just wants to stick with e-mail, please.

I use full sentences unless a one-word answer is sufficient. I will correct errors and try to make sure things are proper. With some people I do abbreviate because as cuz for brevity's sake, but I almost always use full words, correctly spelled.
What annoys me is when the autocorrect swoops in in that split second before I send, and changes something so that it’s wrong, and it goes out that way.

I try to be very, very careful. Very.
I’ll sometimes dash off a quick text to my DD and not be so careful. But to my DH and sister? It has to be correct.
My DH is rather passive aggressive about my spelling and grammar errors. I sometimes use voice to text because of my low vision, and Siri will misunderstand me or use the wrong word. For example, if I say I’m going to go “buy” something and the word gets spelled “by”, I’ll immediately get a text from him. What do you mean “by”? I don’t understand. What were you trying to say? Ugh.
My sister, is a former French and English high school teacher. She can be brutal in her criticisms.
I’d really rather just call someone then have them critique my spelling, grammar and punctuation in a text. It’s just rude.

Sloppy for the most part. I often am in a hurry to get get the text or messsage off and do not see the error until it is sent. I am well known for sending a correction shortly afterwards. I also believe it often changes my words after I have hit send 😉🤣🤣

I can't text, I have to use the speaker phone function! With my accent, it gets a word wrong on most every text, so they are quite funny when the person I am texting asks me if I read my text.
So I am a sloppy texter.

Proper 97% of the time. But if I'm texting my kids or DH, I don't worry too much, and may even try NOT to be too proper (with the kids). I'm definitely one of those people who will send a followup text with the correct word if I am autocorrected incorrectly and miss it.
"I'll be there later with the poop kits." "Make that pumpkins."

To me, this is the perfect text. I'd let that one sit for a long time.

Even if I hit send and then see a mistake, I immediately send another text with an asterisk and the correct word. Especially when I text my son. He would freak out and think I was having a stroke if I texted gibberish.

"I'll be there later with the poop kits." "Make that pumpkins." Those things that do the rounds on Facebook etc listing hilarious conversations with autocorrect alterations always have me laughing out loud.

I'm a tidy texter. Can't help it. The punctuation isn't that difficult. I mostly use the swipe method of texting each word, then add punctuation. It does come up with some doozies at times, then I leave them in and send, then send another text correcting it and laughing at the autocorrect. My frequent phrase to DH is "On my way. xx" and I have a shortcut set up for that which is just PP so that I can find and type it quickly as I'm leaving work or the takeaway place. Have you got shortcuts set up for your regular phrase?

Also, I love those autocorrect articles. I used to love the Damn You AutoCorrect site and I was gutted when it closed down.
We have a friend who only uses voice-to-text without checking before she sends, and her messages are always completely hilarious, although we often have to ring her back for clarification.
