I have been driving some sort of model of BMW for more than 15 years ...
My current one was a 535si xdrive ... a cushy car that I was in love with.
I got it in the divorce a few years ago (ex is a realtor and it was his "work car") ... he was very sad . Hahahahaha!!! .
A boat was involved and so he needed to keep the truck ...
The car is a 2011 so not new by any stretch of the imagination but looks really nice and wasn't giving me problems so I assumed I'd drive it for awhile ...
Wrong!
It started nickel and diming me awhile ago with needing the air conditioning to be fixed and then a new starter ... needed new tires ... now it needs a wheel alignment and tire rotation ... oh, and a new windshield ...
I took it to the dealership to have the work done and they found a bunch of other things wrong with it ... to the tune of $8000.
Ummmmmm, no.
I thanked them very much and came home and made an appointment with a Jeep dealership for the following afternoon ...
I'm living on a single (teacher's) income now so a new BMW is not an option but my second fav vehicle is a Jeep Wrangler!
I decided exactly what I was willing to spend and what options I wanted and walked in there by myself and had a really great experience!
I test drove a sweet black Wrangler in the pouring rain and knew then and there that it had to be mine!
We completed the sale, insurance and registration that afternoon and I moved my things from the BMW to the Jeep ... I took a couple of photos of the BMW to remember it and then I drove away in my new wheels!
Here it is:
I'm having running boards installed this week because it is a bitch to get into right now ... I'm only 5'1".
I can't wait to drive it around today and show all my friends and family ... my dd's already have the idea in their heads that they are going to take it for a spin!
Anyway, I just wanted to talk about my excitement and really let the Peas who are in the middle of dealing with divorces and crap know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel! You can be in your 50's and be independent ... own your own place and have nice things! Hang in there!
