Do you eat them as is, or turn them into a new dish?
I saw some video on Facebook about Chinese food, and it never occurred to me to turn them into a different meal...
What do you do? A curious Pea wants to know.
ETA: I have four kids (3 of them teenagers) we rarely have leftovers.

Leftover roast chicken can be so many other things.
Pasta i usually make a side dish at another meal
Left over veggies go so well in soups, stews etc

Mostly we eat them as is. Sometimes, especially if it's meat that's not in another recipe -- like roast chicken, or a pork roast, or something like that -- I'll cut it up and use it for something else, or freeze for another day.

Chicken or ground turkey get turned into a new dish.
Soup is served as is or I add pasta or rice to change it up a bit.
Rice is served with sauteed vegetables or or meat.
Vegetables are warmed and eaten as is.

it depends
sometimes leftovers are planned to be eaten again the next evening for dinner (planned overs)
sometimes leftovers turn into lunches
sometimes I freeze leftovers to eat another time
but with something like ham or turkey, while we will eat leftovers, I also turn some them into new meals (or freeze to later be turned into new meals)

The point of having leftovers is that you don’t have to do any work for the next meal.
I’m not creating work for myself by turning perfectly good food into other perfectly good food.

I always make extra pork chops so we can have pork fried rice the next day.
Usually we just reheat leftovers and eat them as the same thing. I purposely make extra so we have leftovers. I put in single serving containers, and take to work for lunch.

I think “leftovers” means it’s a meal in itself. Extra cooked chicken or cooked turkey is just that: extra cooked chicken (which even that wouldn’t normally happen - it would be inside of the enchiladas - and therefore leftovers…)

As is…leftovers mean no extra work.

It’s just the two of us and we’ve gotten really good at making just enough for a meal so the only time we have leftovers is from take-out (including pizza) and when we cook a tenderloin. The smallest they have is 1 lb, that’s 2 planned meals for us. We have all of it as is.
eta: Oh yeah! When we marinate pork shoulder for Cuban sandwiches it’s enough for several meals. So we plan to eat the sandwiches until it’s gone, no 4 oz of meat for those meals. No hardship there!

It depends on what it is.
~ Curry, stir fry, pasta, tuna mornay etc will just be left as is (although sometimes I will make pies with leftover curry) ~ Roast chicken might be used for sandwiches, or I might make chicken mornay or chicken and leek pies ~ Slow cooked lamb might be turned into Moroccan Lamb Bastilla (from the Save With Jamie cookbook) ~ Leftover pumpkin risotto will always be turned into pumpkin and goat cheese fritters

The majority of the time, as is. Most of our meals are one pot dishes (stir fry, stew, chili, etc.) that don’t transform into something else. If we have leftover roast chicken/ham/beef I may use some of the leftover for sandwiches, but I don’t make something else with them for dinner. I am in the camp that leftovers means I don’t have to figure out another meal.

It really depends on what it is. If it’s something basic without a ton of special seasonings like rotisserie chicken or roast turkey or pork chops, that is sometimes made into something else for the sole reason that it gets boring eating the same thing for 2-4 straight nights in a row. Something with more seasoning like taco meat, kebabs, chili, etc. is reheated and eaten as is.
We’ve gotten pretty good at breaking down bulk packages of meat and freezing it into portion sizes appropriate for our family so we don’t typically have a lot of leftovers. If we do, it’s generally only enough for one more meal or for DH’s lunch (I don’t usually eat leftover dinner for lunch). The exception is Thanksgiving or Christmas where we have a lot of turkey or ham leftover and that tends to last long enough that we’re all sick of seeing it no matter how it’s served up.

The point of having leftovers is that you don’t have to do any work for the next meal. . [/quote That’s not necessarily true for everyone. I sometimes cook a larger joint than I need so that I can use the leftover meat to make burgers or something the next day. Generally though I’m not into leftovers.

Almost always as is. If it is just meat, occasionally turn into something else, but nothing fancy.

It depends on what it is, so sometimes it can be reinvented into something different or sometimes left as was and reheated.

9 times out of 10, my one older kid will eat left-overs (often cold!) straight out of the container for breakfast. When that doesn't happen, then someone else will reheat them & eat them as is---typically for lunch the next day. We typically have only one serving of anything left, so it's rarely enough to even consider remaking into something else, kwim?

I said depends. I know when DH used to cook boneless country style pork ribs in ah-so sauce, the next meal was cutting up the left over ribs and making pork fried rice. Man, I miss that.

Not a fan of leftovers so selected other. Depending on what it is I often share a little bit with the dogs as a special topping on their food.

I can do both. If I have some chicken that is not enough for a meal I add it to pasta, or use it with mayo as a sandwich.

I can't stand to cook, so I would not want to have to make another meal out of leftovers. We eat them as we ate them when they were first cooked.

Probably 95% as is.. the only thing that comes to mind to make a new meal is Thanksgiving dinner.. I make turkey egg rolls with all the leftovers.. and then sometimes I will take leftover mashed potatoes and make potato patties (I can't think of the real name..) you batter and fry the potato.. potato cakes? lol
But yes I HATE to cook, so most of the time is 'as is' usually for work leftovers.

My vote for this time in my life is "as is." I have two growing teens in my house, so rarely is there any such beast as leftovers. If there are, my husband usually eats them for lunch in the next couple of days.
Now, when I do have a ton of leftovers for some reason, it depends. Like, if I make a ham, I don't usually do much else with it because my family could just eat a mountain of ham every night and be happy. But a turkey will become a few different things. I'm not generally one to dissect a meal - wash the gravy off a stew and reuse the carrots or something, like you see in some of these shows - but I might take the stew and turn it into a potpie or something.

I usually eat leftovers for lunch the next day. Last night I made carne asada and that is what I am having for lunch today (and probably tomorrow!).
I love leftovers for lunch vs. a cold sandwich.

It depends what the leftovers are, but I usually eat as is. Some things are good and switching up. Chicken breasts can be shredded and I can turn them into flautas, taquitos enchiladas, etc.
