Did you purchase a class ring, jacket, or other such item in high school? Did you wear and enjoy them or regret purchasing them or not purchasing them? I did not get either and have never regretted it. I did get a yearbook every year. Also, my grandmother bought me a beach towel with our school mascot and information on it during a fund raiser once. That is about all that I had/have from my high school days and I was/am completely fine with that.

I got a ring and don't regret it.. I mean it was WAY back in 1986.. lol.. I think I wore it for an entire year after graduating. So I got my use out of it. The stone is really worn down and looks terrible now.. It has sat in my jewelry box forever. Not sure why I keep it.
No coat.. wasn't into sports or anything like that.
I have four years of yearbooks. I don't regret them either. It was really useful back when FB started and could look up old friends.. like last name spellings and all that. Friends you kinda forgot. Otherwise I haven't looked at them since the beginning of FB or before.

I and all of my friends who were in to sports and leadership had a lettermen's jacket (are they still called that? I'm old, graduated in 1979 so that's what they were called then). I know that a salesperson came around at some point to entice us all with rings but I don't recall a single one of us who purchased one. I imagine back then my parents were willing to pay for a lettermen's jacket (almost everyone had one) but not a ring?

My dad never had a class ring, and I guess that bothered him at the time, so it was important to him that I have it, so he told me I could have whatever I wanted, and so I went for some upgrades beyond the basic ring, as well. I did enjoy it for my senior year & perhaps the summer after that, but then I never wore it again. I do still appreciate that he bought it for me.

Yes, I got a ring and a letterman sweater. I probably wore the ring for a couple of years after high school, but I pretty much stopped wearing the sweater after graduation. A couple of years after I graduated, they had women’s letterman jackets available. I wish I could have had that instead of the sweater. I also still have all my yearbooks (3 year high school).

I have a ring that is on a gold charm bracelet with other important *stuff*. I have many yearbooks including my sister's high school yearbooks. ETA: Our high school mascot was a Bee but we joke that it looks like a mosquito on our rings. Kind of appropriate for NOLA where the mosquito is king.

I had the ring and the jacket. Never wore the jacket much, and I'm sure it's been donated to charity long ago. I still have the ring in a jewelry box. I wore it all throughout high school, though my BF and I never exchanged rings. I had always hoped to wear his ring with the April birthstone/faux diamond stone. Oh, I also have all four of my h.s. yearbooks.

I have yearbooks (4) and a senior book that was sort of like a scrapbook. We also had a senior t-shirt which I wore until it fell apart. I did some sports but didn't letter and had no interest in a class ring.

I had a class ring and wore it for several years. I still have it. Kids around here do not do rings, but jackets are kind of a big deal. My younger daughter did not want one and my older daughter had to have one. She wore it for three years. During the coldest months she wore a hoodie under it so it was a bit warmer. I have no regrets buying it for her. She attended a college where rings are a huge deal. She bought her own and I expect that she’ll wear it the rest of her life. She has bumped into alumni all over the country who notice the ring. The style does not change and it is a nice looking ring.

I bought a ring and wore it for a couple years. Where I grew up letterman jackets weren’t a thing. We did receive a letter (I can’t remember what that needlework style is called but it was the same type of letter that would be found on the letterman jacket,) for sport participation but I don’t know anyone who did anything with the letter other than tack it i on a bulletin board, or pack it away with momentos.
Those high school things lost their luster after I went to university. I did find my HS ring just the other day in a box if random stuff as I packed to move whereas my university ring hasn’t been off my hand for over 30 years. (X Ring, if you know, you know lol)

We didn't buy our letter jackets... you had to earn it.. and i had letters from speech n drama, pep squad and baseball (i ran stats for our team)
My grandparents gave each of us our class ring Christmas of sophomore year... so we would have them for 3 years... my jr n sr year i wore my boyfriends and he had mine on a chain... i still have it in my jewelry box.... and i dont wonder why i still have it... it was a big gift from my grandparents.. it has meaning and memories... i will never wear it but i will never part with it..
My dd wore my letter jacket when she was in jr high then high school... it got lost somewhere along the way... its makes me sad but she enjoyed it...

I got a ring. I wore it for a couple of years (we got them at the beginning of junior year). I don't care a thing about it now, but I think it was worth getting because of how much I loved it at the time. I had a jacket that was part of the required uniform for one of my activities, so technically I bought it, but I didn't really have a choice. Those of us who "lettered" put our letters on that jacket, even if the letter was for a different activity. My mom wore it as a dog-walking coat for years after I left home. My undergraduate college ring is still dear to me, and I wear it sometimes (I now wear mostly white metals; I'd wear that ring more often if it weren't yellow gold).

I begged my mom to buy the ring for me and she did, even though she thought it was a dumb purchase. Turns out she was right, that ring was a waste of money. I still have it in my jewelry box and that's where it's been for almost 40 years.
I have year books going back to 7th grade. I love looking thru those ever few years. I don't think those were a waste of money even though they will just go in the trash when I'm gone.

I bought the high school ring because my dad thought I should. Other than when I first received it, for about five minutes, I have never had it on. It has been in my jewelry box for the last half century. I don't care for the things that normally people do. Big waste of money.

I bought a ring. I wore it all the time unless my boyfriend and I exchanged rings. Then for me to wear his I found the fluffiest angora yarn and wrapped it around the band until it fit me. It looked like a ball of fluff. I wish I had a picture of it. When I didn't wear his ring on my hand it was on a chain around my neck.
Yearbooks....I have them from 6th grade through senior year of high school. I love the comments on them. So many memories!

I never bought a ring or a jacket in high school. Zero regrets.
I did have a letterman sweater from junior high. I still have it in a tub of old clothes in the attic.
I have my yearbooks from freshman to junior years. I graduated early and didn’t get my senior year.
I was class of 1980.

I spent my hard earned money on a class ring and have always regretted it! What a lot of hype for something so useless! I did get a yearbook every year and am glad I did.

We had the option of a school charm for our silver charm bracelets (later 70's). I have this charm on my bracelet that weighs a lot. Many heavy charms and the bracelet itself is quite intricate. I threw out the yearbooks after 20 years.

(X Ring, if you know, you know lol) That is a unique ring. I took a couple of long-distance classes thru x university. Too far from home to go there in person.

I did some sports but didn't letter and had no interest in a class ring. We had a senior scrapbook thing too.. I LOVE mine.. I still have it.. It was so jammed packed the binder broke. I have it packed away inside a bag in my cedar chest.. I love pulling it out time to time (usually only when I am cleaning out my chest to clear stuff away). Guess I was always into scrapbooking even if it wasn't called that.. lol We didn't get to order our rings until our senior year.. so maybe we had it just the last 1/2 of our year.. which is dumb. Why not get it in your Freshman year?

I bought a ring a wore it all through college until I got my college ring and wore that on my pinkie for a few years. I haven't worn either for at least a couple of decades. I don't regret either purchase.
Jackets were only for athletes which I certainly was not. Seniors could purchase a t-shirt with all of our names on it. I bought one and I still have it as memorabilia.

I had a senior class ring but lost it after I took it off to wash dishes at a job the year after graduation. I still have my high school yearbooks and am debating on tossing them. One year has all the yucky stuff from a then boyfriend (not dh).

I had no interest in a class ring. It just was never my jewelry style. I never played team sports so a school jacket wasn’t something I would wear either. No regrets on not having either. I did purchase a senior yearbook.

No to the ring but yes to the letter jacket. I wore it until it didn’t fit anymore. I still have it but it’s too small for even my 8th grader to wear. I lettered in gymnastics x3 (wasn’t on the team freshman year) and also for academics. I also have yearbooks from grade 8-12, the school I went to before that never did them.
I’ve bought my kid a yearbook every year since kindergarten. If she wanted a letter jacket or ring I would buy it for her. She will probably get letters for band and academics once she’s in high school.

I voted other - we don't have class rings or jackets in Australia. Most schools might have an optional hoodie/rugby top that you can wear for sports class days in Year 12 but it's not something you would ever wear after leaving school.

I didn't do either. I think at our school jackets were just for athletes and that wouldn't have interested me; definitely didn't want a ring. I was not a very school-spirited human, I'm afraid.

Yearbooks, yes. Jacket and ring, no. Though Dh has both. My kids didn't want anything either.
