Eta: we currently pay a BASE rate of $330.98/bi monthly with $1.17/100 cu ft tier 1. (Our water is never under $400/bi-mo even with conserving) This is proposed to go up to a BASE of $613.68/bi monthly with $3.81/100 cu ft tier 1 over FOUR YEARS! That’s almost double! That will take our bi monthly easily over $1000. This does not include electricity or natural gas. Property taxes this year were over $6k and we live in a modest 4bed/2bath with minimal outdoor watering that we built 20 years ago! So... we are dealing with a HUGE increase in water rates where I live. We pay water/sewage every other month. Just trying to get a feel of what others across the US (and within CA) pay. I'm in Calaveras County, CA. It's getting to the point that people cannot afford to live in one of the last "affordable" places in CA. People in fixed incomes are really going to be hit hard with these new rates. People are writing protest letters. We need 50% +1 to prevent this from happening. That means over 7,000 people who are serviced by our water district need to send in a letter. Fingers crossed this happens and we can prevent the increase from being implemented. This is on top of the added $150 to property taxes for the "new waste cell" at the dump. Oh, and the increase in homeowners insurance because we live in a "wild fire area". And the desire of locals to increase sales tax by 1% to "fund the fire department"- which are closed from time to time because they can't get people who want to work for what they pay. And the natural gas that had a "temporary increase" this winter that was never repealed- prices DOUBLED. Anyone willing to share what they pay?

I'm in Florida. We have septic so my water bill is $20-$30 each month. My daughter has water/sewer and pays $150-$200 a month.
My electric bill runs from $110-$180 a month depending on the month.
Property taxes are only around $900 because I've lived here so long and they have the SOH tax exemption.
My homeowners insurance is what is really worrying me. It renews next month. It was $2700 last year and my parents who were with the same company had theirs double when it renewed last month. They had to switch to Citizens. In order for us to switch, we would have to repipe our house. I am just hoping ours doesn't double or cancel. My house is worth much less than my parents and in a different county, so I am just saying prayers and hoping for the best.

We have SoCal Gas and 2 months were higher than normal but then we all got credits and it went down.
But we had 2 months of freezing weather and snow. So everyone's rates went up to being in new bracket for usage.
Now SoCal Edison...don't get me started.

My water bill is usually $21.50. The highest I’ve had it only once was $28.50. No sewage because I’m on septic.

I live in a private community with our own well system for water, and we have septic tanks.
We pay $500/year that includes our water and HOA fees for snow removal, etc. We pay $500 to have our septic tank pumped, and that’s every 3ish years with a house full of people.
I do utility billing for multi-family housing and see water bills from all over the country. Rate wise, your price per cf seems reasonable (on the low side, actually!), but the base fees I bill are always split between multiple people, so not nearly what you are paying for yours.

I live in Orange County and pay for water and trash every other or every 3 months. I’m actually not even sure. I don’t know my rates but my bill is about $120 each billIng cycle. I do not waste water but I don’t conserve either. I also do not water my lawn. I do water my plants & flowers though.
My biggest beef is the trash. I use my blue recycle can and green can for grass clipping but they also expect us to sort food waste into the green can. Then they raised our trash rate significantly! That’s BS and I don’t do it. I’m not putting food waste, that cannot be bagged, into the bottom of a green plastic can in 100° weather. That’s a maggot and rodents wet dream!

We have septic. Water bill is about $43 per month. It was in the $30's when we first got county water 17 years ago.
Our property tax has gone up 20% this year. They did a revaluation in 2021, the worst possible time. But it just worked out that way because the state requires a revaluation every so many years. I can't really argue with the value they put on my house. If I were selling, I'd want that much out of it. And compared to what I've read about in other areas of the country, our taxes are pretty low.

I'm in Butte County, California. I am on a septic but I do have city water, it runs me $26/month. Where I lived prior to this city water/sewer was $93/month and when they went to raise the rates there was so much public outcry that the solution was to just bill the items separately. So you get one water bill to one agency and a sewer bill from another agency. Together those items were around $125/month. Just insane to me.

I am in the northeast and I am in a condo/townhouse that is has a weird setup because of how they were originally built (as apartments) so we get one water bill for our whole building and it is divided by six. My building is basically single people or couples so is usually a bit less than some of the other buildings. They also power washed our building this quarter so that increased it for this billing, but just got my bill and it was just about 100. It is usually is around 70 or 80…which averages out to probably 25 to 35.00 a month.

Last month was 62. We have a single family home built in the 70s with a decent but not huge yard for the area.

We just put in a huge pipeline to carry water from a reservoir 40 miles a way which upped our water rates a lot. We do have a 3 tier rate and I try hard to not go into tier 3 and it doubles in price. I usually go into 2 a bit. Water is about $60 and sewer $25 per month.

My city currently has compost centers around and you put the items in a clear bag to drop off. The company they use does not allow compostable bags. Next month the city council is further discussing how to move forward with pick up services.

Water, sewer, garbage pick up are on one bill about $90-120. $49.30 of that is the sewer, garbage and recycling. I think its $7.25/m3 for water. Can't afford to water your lawn, the bill would be hundreds of dollars.
$261 was my combined power and natural gas bill. $48 power usage & $17 gas usage, $196 fees. $564 was my highest bill last winter.
Property taxes are have stayed steady for quite a few years and have come down over the years after a rise. $1950/year.
Canadian dollars

I'm in El Dorado County which includes everything between Sacramento County and South Lake Tahoe. We usually pay $250.00 bi-monthly but I know it's going to go up some because of infrastructure that needs replacing because of being old or damaged in the Calder fire.

I’m in LA county.
Our city has its own water. I think I pay about $100 monthly for water and that’s with a lot of conservation.
The city keeps raising rates on trash, gas and water. They haven’t figured out the whole green waste laws but we are going to see large increases when they get that going.
Electric bills (SCE)are the highest utility cost. Most people are paying $500-$800 monthly. We’re a beach city so no real excessive heat and cool evenings.
Property taxes are high too.
My pet peeve is car registration…shouldn’t cost close to $1000 annually to register a car.

Your car registration is initially set on the purchase price of your car, and it should go down every year until it reaches a certain minimum. I think the minimum is like $150 or so. Not sure about the amount. We have SDGE for electricity. They supposedly have the highest electricity rates in the country. Ugh! I am glad I live near the coast, but I still need the A/C, especially the past few days. As to the OP, our water bill is about $80 plus another $80 or so for sewage. Our trash service is around $30, depending on what size bins you have and how many.

I don’t think fees should be based on purchase price. And it seems that rates never really drop much. I’ve never paid anywhere near $150 for car registration.

By the time we sold it, we were paying around $249 (that exact number sticks in my mind for some reason. Lol!). Some states make you pay property taxes on your vehicles. So they will still get you based on the value of your car.

South Central Texas here in a small town. Our bill is combined for water & sewer, trash & recycling, and gas and is about $130/month. Our heat, water heater, dryer, oven and stove run on gas. We don’t water our yard much and it’s just the two of us in the house.

I pay approximately $40 every three months for water, no sewer because I have a septic system. My electricity runs about $80 a month but you have to remember we’re in western New York and our power is coming from Niagara Falls so it’s not very expensive. My school taxes run a little $200 a month, the yearly bill should be here any day, and my town taxes run about $100 a month that bill comes in January.

We get a bill e/o month that includes Water, Sewer, Street lights. Normally it's around $160 but in the summer with watering the garden it's round $200. The city built new water towers this past year so our bill jumped like $30-40 from where it used to be.
