First off, there is no need to admonish me about my civic duty. I have been summonsed so many times that I’ve done more than my fair share. In my 20’s, 30’s and into my 40’s I was summonsed at least a dozen times. Then once or twice after that. Then I was summonsed again about 2 or so years ago (virtual jury due to Covid). And now I’ve been summonsed yet again. Meanwhile I have friends (registered voters who are US citizens) who have never been called up. I don’t personally know of any one who has summonsed as many times as I have. It’s weird how often I get the notices. I’m just curious what the averages are amongst the Peas. If it makes any difference, I’m in Seattle. So, do tell! ________________________ UPDATE 10/5 TG, I have officially been released. I made it to the jury selection part but have been let go. This is the case and while I’d love to do my part to make sure he is convicted, i am very very grateful that I don't have to serve on this particular jury. www.cnn.com/2023/08/15/us/negasi-zuberi-not-guilty-plea-oregon-cinder-block-dungeon/index.html

I used to get called about every other year. As soon as I was eligible again. I’ve never served on a jury but have been chosen (they settled before the trial started). My husband has never once even gotten the questionnaire they send before the summons.

Once that I can remember. It’s possible I was also scheduled another time but was unable to attend so I called and they released me, though that could have been DH. This is from living in several areas in Texas: Austin, Lubbock, and San Antonio area. I don’t think I’ve been called since I moved into my small town outside of SA in 2008.

4 times, I believe. (Or maybe 3. I'm not exactly sure.)

Summoned at least seven times since we moved here 20 years ago. I've actually had to go in twice and was on a jury both of those times. Last time was Fall of 2021, so I'm overdue for my next summons...
DH doesn't get summoned quite as much as I do...

This is a fun question around my house and among my friends because it varies so widely. I have been registered to vote since the day I turned 18 and had never ever been called for jury duty. When dh and I lived in Washington, DC, before we lived together, he got called twice and his two housemates also got called. He used to say that his address had some sort of flag on it at the jury duty office. lol. Meanwhile I continued on never getting called. Never got called. Continued never to get called. Getting older now, never got called. Everyone around me got called. lol
Then, the pandemic arrived. Just as vaccines were coming out... yep, I got called! hahaha -- I went online to the link provided and told them I was not reporting to an enclosed room with a bunch of other people before everyone was vaccinated. They replied that I was excused and would be called again at some point.
I got called last year. They said I had to check the website after 5:00 on the afternoon before my report date, to see if they needed me. They did not, thankfully! So now I'm off the hook for the next three years.

3 times but have yet to serve…
First I was summoned from Nova Scotia 1 week after I moved to another province.
2nd I had just given birth and was excused
3rd I was all set to go and the defendant pled guilty the night before.
It’s now been over about 15 years since my last summons. I would gladly serve so maybe my turn will come again soon.

Hahaha, literally just had this conversation with my friend in NC. He has been called up 3 times. I am turning 59 this year and have never been summoned for jury duty here in VT. I told him I probably just jinxed myself though. 😄

I picked 4-7 times, but I am sure it is way more, I just don't remember. I have always shown up but never been picked.

4 times for state
Served on one jury (first time summoned)
Had to go in another but dismissed
2 times excused - once due to being caregiver & the other due to medical
1 time summoned for federal grand jury but was excused because I was a stay at home mom & my son's ride to school (no bus) & we had no one to watch him.

Once. Sat there all day and they seated the jury just before my section was called into the courtroom.

I can think of six times that I've actually gone to the courthouse. All but one of those times I was on the jury. Occasionally, I get a summons but my number is not picked and I don't have to report.
I know people who have never been summonsed.

3 times in college, had to show up once on Christmas Eve, sat for an hour and judge let us all go. He did that so it counted toward a year of service. LOL The other 2 I was told not to show up.
3 times since being a mom. Was always excused and now have 5 year excusals that I just renew as long as I am ds' primary caregiver. With our regional center we are granted long no service requests.
I wanted to serve when you get but have zero desire to do so now.

I have been summoned so many times I can’t remember. I picked 8-12, but even that I am not positive about. My Company used to offer unlimited paid jury duty leave and the courts knew that. We all got called so often! It has slowed down lately though, knock on wood.
My most enjoyable time was serving in the Beverly Hills courthouse. A couple of famous people there, along with some entitled ones who got fined by the judge. 🤣 But, I have only sat on two cases out of all those times I’ve been called in.

I've been summoned 2-3 times. I've never served but was excused because of medical reasons due to chronic migraines. I do realize it's my civic duty and I've always wanted to serve on a jury, but it's impossible to predict when a migraine will strike or how long an attack will last.

I have never been called for and hopefully now at 68 I won't be.
Can't imagine having to sit and listen to some of the sh*t that is said in courts these days I just don't want to know!

Probably about 4 times until I aged out of participation.
I was never selected to served--teachers and librarians were not favorites in Dallas county. The one time I was sure to be chosen (because of the way it is done), the DA collapsed and died and all of us were sent home.

Until about 15 years ago I had only been called once. It was in Louisiana and I didn't have to go because I had a young child. Made it close to 20 years in Texas without being called, while DH seemed to get called all the time. He was working out of the country so never had to go. Since then I seem to get called at least once a year. Mostly it's been traffic court and I've never been selected to serve on a jury. I was called for district court in August, but reschedule for mid-November. Since we are allowed to reschedule twice, I will do that again when it gets closer. Only 3.5 more years and I will be exempt (70 and older can claim an exemption). I don’t personally know of any one who has summonsed as many times as I have. It’s weird how often I get the notices. I have a theory that once they get someone who actually shows up when called, they are put into the rotation since they are a sure thing. Recently on the news they said that 70% of the people called in our county never bother to show up.

I chose 8-12 times. Sadly, I’ve yet to be on a jury.

Never for me, but my husband has been called 3 different times, and served on the jury once.
I registered at 18, and we have shared an address for 25 of those 27 years.

I've only been summoned once at 49. I was selected and it was six days. I really enjoyed it. Now that I'm retired I would totally be a "professional" juror! My husband has been summoned a few times and my son when he was 20 and deployed. I don't know why some people get summoned more than others.

Probably about 5 times. I have been excused every time due to being the sole caregiver to children under 16. My youngest turns 15 this weekend so that excuse only has one year left...

I want to say 4-5 times.
Twice I had to stay all day. Once i was excused by phone because I was doing physical therapy, so they did not make me postpone, they just released me. Twice I got to go home early.
Never served. Only made it into the courtroom once.

I moved to my house in 1997. Right after that move, I started receiving jury duty summons every 12 - 18 months. This continued for about 15 years, so I received at least 10 summons during that time. (You can get summoned after 12 months of 'serving'.) My husband only received one summons during that time. Most of the time I didn't have to go to the courthouse, but it still stressed me out.
The courthouse is quite a ways away from me (20+ miles) and since I would have to take public transportation, it would be a big hassle to serve on a jury. If it were closer or more convenient, I wouldn't mind.

Just about every year in our former town. I served on one jury for a horrific manslaughter traffic accident.
