I have travelled to many places but there is still more to see...
Although I haven't physically been to the Grand Canyon, I have see it by air several times. When flying to LAX or SNA and there were delays, the pilots have given tours and pointed out many things in the Grand canyon area. I've been to Hover Dam & Red Rock while we were in the Vegas area.
Cuba is a favourite place for me to go to alone but find the Dominican Republic a poor island.
Still to go is Scandinavian countries (been to Iceland). The travel to Africa, China, Australia, New Zealand & Japan is too long of a flight(s) for me.
Newfoundland is the one province that I haven't been to. I've been to most of the US states, not Alaska or Hawaii. Mexico has been visited, gulf and Pacific regions.
South America has been great as well as most of the Caribbean, as has been Western & Eastern Europe, England but not yet Scotland or Ireland.
I did my dream trip of a 2 week Rhine cruise for 2 weeks several years ago. Once you have done your *dream trip*, everything else is kinda pale by comparison.

I think New Orleans is the only one I haven't been to - I've been to Louisiana, but not New Orleans and have always been scared off by the feedback that it's dirty - not sure how true that is - but I love me some cajun food, so will have to hit it at some point! I did one of those where have you been apps one time and think West Virginia and Alaska re the only states I haven't been to/thru. We went to New Orleans in late December one year. It was great. Not too crowded. It did not smell (which I hear it can in the humid months). The food was awesome!! We had a great time.

Lots of places though I assume what is “popular” depends on where you live.
Never been to: Toronto (even though we’re only a couple hours away) Vegas (and not much interest in going) Texas California Hawaii South Florida/FL keys Caribbean Islands
Also, except for a HS exchange trip to Germany I’ve never been oversees.

I've never been to Mexico or the Caribbean. I don't like hot weather, or resorts, or sandy beaches (I'm not a big fan of the times I've got to Florida either), so while I do think I'd be interested in seeing some of the more urban sites, I haven't been interested in the resort-type vacations that are usually pitched to me.

Too many to list. At the top of my "to visit" list. Road trip New England Blue Ridge Mountains. Specifically The Waltons (TV show) Museum Road trip Oregon Coast North Carolina. Where the wild horses run on the beach. My mother in law LOVED the Waltons and had the time of her life at the museum. She knocked the games they had there (I think one was trivia and the other was a hidden object type thing?) out of the park. She was crazy, but she was a hell of a mother in law.

In the US, New Mexico, the western national parks, Nashville.

I've never been to Disneyland or Disney World and have no desire to go.
Same with Vegas-absolutely no desire to go.
I don't like resorts at all like all inclusive resorts so going to Mexico doesn't sound appealing to me at all.
I've only been west of the Mississippi once and that was for a scrapbooking retreat in Wisconsin.
I know the USA is huge and has a lot to offer, but I'd much rather travel internationally and explore new cultures.
Although St. John USVI will always have a special place in my heart.

Oh brother, I thought this was about common/popular places you haven't been that might surprise people, not places you want to go. The list of places I want to go is HUGE! I want to go everywhere! We travel a lot, and haven't even made a dent in all the places we want to see. Geez, we can't stop going to the UK because there is always so much that excites us, and we haven't been to Scotland yet really. Dh calls me Go Along, because I will always say yes to a trip somewhere. Come and visit me, you know you want to! 😄

For all the traveling we have done, I have yet to set foot in Hawaii! So that is tops on my list. Also have not visited Alaska which is #2 on my list. Other popular vacation spots I haven't seen are Rome, Spain, Portugal, Greece to name just a few. I have never been to Yellowstone. I would really like to go and have just started planning a trip for next Fall. You will love it! Be sure and spend some time in the Grand Tetons while you are there. Those are just as beautiful to me as Yellowstone is. I think New Orleans is the only one I haven't been to - I've been to Louisiana, but not New Orleans and have always been scared off by the feedback that it's dirty - not sure how true that is - but I love me some cajun food, so will have to hit it at some point! New Orleans will have more creole dishes than cajun, but it's seriously some of the best food in the world. And I say that having lived/traveled all over the world. We have lived in NOLA twice (DD was born there) and while it is a beautiful city it does have its issues. Just don't go in the summertime!

You could probably stay in just about every state just by visiting peas! Would take a very long time though. I still have yet to visit: Oregon Idaho Montana North Dakota South Dakota Hawaii Alaska Louisiana Mississippi Maine Vermont New Hampshire Massachusetts Rhode Island I think that's it. 14 left! How could you go to Delaware Pennsylvania New York and Connecticut, all surrounding us and not stop in New Jersey. We are the Revolutionary roadway between NY, PA and DC!! I've definitely been to NJ! ETA I lived in Bucks Co PA so, practically neighbors

Just America? I’ve never been to America 😊 As it happens, I’ve never (yet) been to the UK. 😂😂😂I think it’s next on the list though. I’ve also never been to Hawaii or any Caribbean island. No desire to visit Hawaii. Looking at the Caribbean though.

I haven’t ever been anywhere in Europe but would rather see all 50 states first. I’ve been to Canada and Mexico a couple times each. Been to Hawaii 3x, the Caribbean 2x, Tahiti /Moorea /Kiribati /Bora Bora.
The U.S. states I haven’t been to yet are (in alphabetical order): Alabama Arkansas Colorado Connecticut Delaware Indiana Louisiana Maine Maryland Massachusetts Mississippi New Hampshire New Jersey New Mexico New York North Carolina Oklahoma Oregon Pennsylvania Rhode Island South Carolina Vermont West Virginia
I think a lot could be knocked off in one trip to the NE and a lot more could be knocked off in one trip to the south.

Thought of another place - Zion National Park. I’d love to walk through the Narrows and climb up Angel’s Landing, although it would terrify me. We just got back from Zion a couple of weeks ago. DH and his friend hiked to Angel’s Landing. I stopped at Scout Lookout. There is no way I would go all the way. We hiked the Narrows as well. It was a great trip!

I was scared, but saw many others doing it and sucked it up. I'm impressed!! I didn't realize I had a fear of heights until Zion. Well, heights that are along a huge drop. I LOVED doing The Narrows. Such an incredible experience.

I've been to Louisiana, but not New Orleans and have always been scared off by the feedback that it's dirty - not sure how true that is Absolutely true. It's filthy, but there is so much New Orleans culture, the music, the food, the voodoo. Do not go to Bourbon Street. It's gross and touristy. We go to NO every year for Jazzfest and we love walking down the street and running into a jazz band or seeing local performers on Frenchman's Street. I even jumped into a hip-hop video when they invited the crowd to participate in a second-line parade after the performers. The weirdness of the place is part of its charm.

My top destinations are Japan, New Zealand and Australia. I would love to see Tokyo. I've been told it's really clean, organized and there's a lot to see and do.
Many years ago dh went to Sydney on business. He called and asked me if I would want to live there, because it was so clean, pretty and the people were so friendly. I wish we had taken that opportunity seriously, because it would be so cool to live in another part of the world for a while. I would love to go to Fiji, too. The list is endless.
I've been all over the USA and the one place I could go to again and again is NYC. Broadway, museums and shopping. I'm in!

We didn't have a specific opportunity but I think living abroad opens your eyes to the world beyond your shores and gives you life experiences you just can't get 'at home'. We'll just have to travel as much as possible to make up for it

NYC, Japan, London (all of UK), Berlin, Scandinavian countries, Australia are still awaiting my visit. I did have Egypt and Israel on my list, but things are so unstable there I won't visit. I was never able to go anywhere until I was past the age of 25. I've been busy making up for lost time. I have been fortunate enough to see and walk on The Great Wall, stand in Red Square, see the Alps, Paris and Munich. I have also visited Alaska, Hawaii and many of the lower 48 states. I have seen many of the US "well known spots" that have been mentioned by the Peas.
I took a cruise and we stopped in Havana for about an hour so I don't really consider that I had time to properly visit Cuba.

One place I definitely want to go back to is Scotland. My appendix ruptured 3 days after I got there and I spent more time in the hospital than before it blew. Luckily, I have a friend there who has an Air BNB so I can stay there when I go visit. Now it's just about the pesky detail of money

He called and asked me if I would want to live there, because it was so clean, pretty and the people were so friendly. I'd have been on the next plane. Nobody has mentioned anywhere in Asia except Tokyo. Tokyo is nice, but Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, and the whole region are incredible and very easy to navigate. Lots of English spoken and very safe. They're not super common vacation spots like Hawaii or the Grand Canyon, but there's lots of tourism. Hong Kong is my favorite place in the world. It's safer than many of our big cities, even with the protests. I like it better than Tokyo.
